1. Given the complex numbers 𝑧1 = 3 + 5𝑗, 𝑧2 = 3 − 4𝑗 , 𝑧3 = 4 + 3𝑗 ,determine

8. A closed cylindrical container of volume 200𝑐𝑚3 is to be made from a metal sheet.
Determine the radius and height of the container that will give minimum surface area. (5 marks)
9. Table 1 gives the frequency distribution of the number of orders received each day for the past
40 days. Calculate the mean; (5 marks)

a) In large consignment of test-tubes to distributor, the mean number of broken test tubes in
a packet is 5. Determine the probability of a packet containing:
i. No broken test-tubes;
ii. Exactly 3 broken-tubes;
iii. At least 3 broken test-tubes. (10 marks)
b) Given that 𝑿𝒏 is an approximation to the root of the equation
