Legends

Legends are the most useful when analyzing a relatively small number of categories. In Power
BI, legends have their own well in the fields section of the visualizations pane. To create a
legend, we drag the relevant field to this well. Only one field can be used to create a legend for
each visual.

Create a new visual:-

Axis – Category

Values – Sales

To find the sales as per category with respect to market we need to drag and drop market field
to the legend.
For every visual this option may differs:-

For Pie Chart it will fulfil by details field.

After drag and drop field in details it will show sub categories of the same.
Hierarchy
Power BI data hierarchy lets you organize data in a way where one element is ranked over the
other. By default, Power BI detects your data and organizes date-related
data hierarchy automatically.

In Power BI reports various features are used to enhance the reporting experience.

An example of a hierarchy could be Country, State, and City. Cities are in a State, and States
make up a Country.

Create Hierarchy
In a visual use two fields in axis, hierarchy will create automatically.
Write click on any bar and click on drill down.

You will see bars in the same visual with respect to the selected field.
For technology we have all the sub categories with respect to the same phones, copiers,
machines and accessories.

Dates Hierarchy
When any field have the date data type, power bi automatically converted it into the sub
hierarchies of year, quarter, month and date.

Select order date and sales in the visual.

Year Wise
Select any bar-> write click -> drill down->get new visual.
Ex: -> select 2011
- > Qtr 1,2,3,4 With respect to
sales.
-> Qtr 1
-> Jan, Feb, March
->Jan
-> 1…….30

Quarter Wise
Month Wise

Date Wise
Question – Find out the sales of 2011 4th Jan of technology
category.
- Move Category in legends in the above graph mentioned.
Ans – 425.95
Question 2 – Find out the profit of 2013 6th Dec of US Market?

Ans – 1468.74
Date Slicers:-

Method 2 :-
Table Visuals with data bars
Step 1 – Create table visual.

Step 2 – Format -> conditional formatting -> choose profit -> data bars
With respect to different markets:-

Drag and drop markets in Column Section.
