Binance Keywords and Their Meanings

Trading Terms

Spot: Buying or selling crypto instantly at current market price.


Margin: Borrowing funds to trade more than your balance (high risk).
Futures: Agreements to buy/sell crypto at a future date for a set price.
Leverage: Trading with borrowed money (e.g. 10x leverage = 10x your balance).
Market Order: Buys/sells immediately at the best available price.
Limit Order: Buys/sells only when a set price is reached.
Stop-Limit Order: An order triggered only when price hits a certain level, then places a limit order.
Stop-Market Order: An order triggered at a certain price, executed at market price.
Take Profit: Automatically closes your trade when a profit target is reached.
Stop Loss: Automatically closes your trade when a loss limit is reached.

Wallet & Funds

Fiat: Government-issued money (e.g. PKR, USD).


Crypto: Digital currency (e.g. BTC, ETH).
Wallet: Where your assets are stored on Binance.
Spot Wallet: Holds crypto for regular trading.
Funding Wallet: Used for P2P and Binance Pay transactions.
Margin Wallet: Holds funds used for margin trading.
Futures Wallet: Holds assets for futures trading.
Earn Wallet: Holds assets used in staking, savings, etc.

Market & Price Terms

Order Book: List of buy and sell orders in the market.


Ask Price: Lowest price a seller is willing to accept.
Bid Price: Highest price a buyer is willing to pay.
Spread: Difference between bid and ask price.
Volume: Total quantity of a coin traded in a given time.
Liquidity: How easily an asset can be bought/sold without affecting price.
Slippage: Difference between expected and executed price due to market changes.
Volatility: How much and how fast the price of a coin changes.

General Terms

KYC: Know Your Customer - identity verification process.


P2P: Peer-to-Peer trading (buying/selling directly with others).
Staking: Locking your crypto to earn rewards.
Airdrop: Free crypto given by projects to users.
Token: A crypto asset built on another blockchain (e.g. SHIB is on Ethereum).
Coin: Native cryptocurrency of its own blockchain (e.g. BTC, ETH).
Gas Fee: Transaction fee for moving crypto on a blockchain.
Burn: Destroying coins to reduce supply and increase value.
Liquidity Pool: Funds locked in DeFi used to enable trading on DEXs.
APY: Annual Percentage Yield - interest earned in a year.
ROI: Return on Investment - profit made compared to money invested.
ATH: All-Time High - the highest price a coin has ever reached.
ATL: All-Time Low - the lowest price a coin has ever reached.

Security Terms

2FA: Two-Factor Authentication - extra layer of login security.


Whitelist: A list of allowed wallet addresses for withdrawals.
Anti-Phishing Code: A code shown in Binance emails to confirm the message is legit.
