DEMOCRACTIC INTERVENTION AND UNDEMOCRATIC PRACTICES

- It is the interpretation on the things that happen every day in communities.


Citizens have prior concern to make these routine or event become open.
However, this doesn’t mean that people have to do anything. They just have to do
the normal in different ways. If the routine business of politics is done in ways that
are open to citizens, the routines can become democratic practices. These
practices are reflected in the ordinary people asking one another when something
threatens their well-being.

Examples of Democratic Practices

1. Freedom of Speech – the ability to express thoughts, opinions, ideas, and


perceptions freely.

2. Inclusiveness and Equality – the practice of embracing and accepting all types of
people in the society and treating them with fair and just.

3. Suffrage – this is the right of a citizen to exercise the process of voting to any
political elections. The foundation of every healthy democracy, ensuring that
government authority derives from the will of the people.

4. Citizens Participation – is a process that gives person a chance to make positive


effects to public decisions and can take initiative to improve quality of life, work, and
relationship between society and government.

5. Right to Life – the right to live harmoniously in the society, that no one has the right
to punish, kill, or destroy the sanctity of living.

6. Minority Rights – the rights subject to members of ethnic groups, religious groups,
gender and sexual circles.

7. Constitutional Government – is defined by the existence of a constitution which


may be a legal instrument or merely a set of fixed norms or principles generally
accepted as the fundamental law of the polity that effectively controls the exercise of
political power.

Undemocratic Practices – it is a complex decision and process that is being held and
manipulated by one individual or few members of the society rather than by many.

Examples of Undemocratic Practices:

1. Drug War

2. Extra Judicial Killing

3. Gender Inequality

4. Racial Discrimination

5. Vote Buying
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary connections is the act of connecting or the
state of being connected. Meanwhile, relationship is the state of being related or
interrelated. As social beings, it is natural for us to crave connections. This can be proven
by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. This theory explains around the stages of needs
that all human have in their lives. Love and Belonging, a stage that might be considered
illogical due to overly sentimental connotation that it brings, is in reality, a crucial need
for humans. Every individual is connected to each other. Each one is like unique thread
in a tapestry, with unique capacity to contribute to the whole.

Having close, positive connections and relationship can give us purpose and sense
of belongingness.

What is CONNECTION?

- It refers to something that links or associates two or more things with each other.
It is the point of contact that connects and forms a relationship between persons
and things. It can also be explained as the manner and a feeling of understanding
between two or more people that eases communication. A connection is what
binds two or more people, concepts, or things to form a relationship. In addition, is
the successful completion of necessary arrangements so that two or more parties
can communicate at a long distance.

Here are some examples that can be considered a connection:

1. A person that you know from another school or institution.

2. The feeling you feel towards music that makes you more engaged in it.

3. The link or bond between mother and child.

4. Personal connection that increases your engagement and interest to things or people.

 Building connections with others is important in facilitating understanding between


people which produces better mood, relationships, work outcomes, and interest
over things and people.

What is RELATIONSHIP?

- It refers to the way things, concepts, and people are connected or related. It can
also refer to the close connection between people that is established over an
extended period. A relationship is a by-product of connection. It is about being and
the experience of connecting with someone over an extended period of time.

Here are some examples that can be considered a relationship:

1. Relationship between lung cancer and smoking

2. Boyfriend and girlfriend

3. Family members (mother and child)


4. Boss-employee relationship

 Building good relationship with others helps make work a better place to be. When
people have strong relationship in the workplace, team players are more likely to
perform better and build camaraderie that helps the team to better performance
and function as a team.

What is Network?

- Is the process of interacting with others to exchange information or idea among


people with a common profession or interest. It is used by people to expand their
circle of acquaintances in an informal setting. Through networking, people are able
to find out information about many things such as news, trends, jobs, concepts,
ideas, information technology and more in the world.
