Read the text to answer questions 26-30.

Once upon a time in a charming village, there lived a courageous girl named Princess Carissa. She
resided in a grand castle with her parents, her spirited brother Prince Jake, and her beloved ginger cat,
Bolo. One bright morning, as sunlight poured through her window, Carissa was busy preparing breakfast
for herself and her furry friend. “Would you like biscuits, Bolo?” she asked, pouring crunchy treats into
his fish-shaped dish. Bolo meowed enthusiastically, weaving around her legs in delight. As the smell of
the biscuits wafted through the air, Carissa found herself tempted to sneak a taste, but Bolo nudged her
gently, reminding her that they were his snacks.

Once they finished their breakfast, Carissa was eager to get dressed for their exciting day ahead. They
planned to play at the park and visit the stables to feed carrots to the horses. Just as she reached for her
favourite mustard leggings, a thunderous ROARRRR shook the castle! Bolo, startled, dashed under the
bed while Carissa frowned, determined to discover the source of the commotion. Looking out the
window, she spotted a colossal dragon perched atop a hill, its fiery breath swirling into the morning air.
The townsfolk scattered in fear, rushing into their homes. Frustrated, Carissa crossed her arms; a dragon
was about to ruin all her plans!

“Bolo, are you coming with me to talk to this dragon?” Carissa called. Bolo’s sharp meow sounded very
much like a resolute ‘No’. Nevertheless, Carissa’s adventurous spirit surged. “I’m scared too, but I won’t
let fear ruin the day!” She pulled on her sturdy boots, squared her shoulders, and stepped outside,
feeling the heat radiate from the dragon’s fiery breath. With purpose in her stride, she approached the
magnificent creature. “Excuse me!” she shouted over the dragon's roar, causing it to pause and stare at
her, bewildered. “Why are you making such a racket? You’ve frightened everyone away!”

The dragon blinked, his golden eyes glistening with sorrow. “I didn’t mean to scare anyone,” he replied,
his voice a deep rumble. “I have a terrible toothache and was hoping someone could help me. But all I’ve
done is frighten the villagers.” Carissa’s heart softened as she noticed a tear rolling down the dragon’s
scaly cheek, forming a puddle beneath him. “I can help you,” she said gently. “But we need to calm
everyone down first. No one will help you if they’re scared.” With that, Carissa hatched a plan. She
gathered the townsfolk and explained that the dragon’s roars came from pain, not malice. Slowly, their
fear transformed into empathy as they realised even mighty dragons needed help.

Encouraged by Carissa's bravery, the villagers came together with ladders and tools to help the dragon.
The local dentist climbed up the ladders to examine the dragon’s mouth and discovered a large piece of
hedge lodged between his teeth. “I can’t remove this without bigger tools!” she exclaimed. Carissa
thought quickly, her mind racing. “We need the fire service! Their hoses are powerful enough to clear this
out!” The villagers rallied behind her, and soon the fire team arrived. With a mighty spray of water, the
stubborn hedge dislodged, freeing the dragon from his discomfort. The dragon, now relieved and
grateful, purred a sound reminiscent of Bolo’s contented meow.

“Thank you, Princess Carissa,” the dragon said, his voice now softer and friendlier. “You’ve shown
great courage and compassion. The village is fortunate to have someone like you.” Carissa beamed,
her heart swelling with pride. She had not only helped the dragon but also united the villagers in an
act of kindness. With the day’s adventure saved, Carissa and Bolo finally headed to the stables,
where they fed the horses sweet carrots, celebrating a day filled with bravery, friendship, and the
magical bond between all creatures, big and small.
