Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) aims at supporting sustainable
production in agriculture sector by way of -
providing financial support to farmers suffering crop loss/damage arising
out of unforeseen events
stabilizing the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming
encouraging farmers to adopt innovative and modern agricultural practices
ensuring flow of credit to the agriculture sector; which will contribute to
food security, crop diversification and enhancing growth and
competitiveness of agriculture sector besides protecting farmers from
production risks.
ASSISTANCE
 Insurance protection for food crops, oil seeds and annual horticultural
/commercial crops notified by state governments.
Uniform maximum premium for all farmers: 1) Kharif season-2% of sum
insured 2)Rabi season -1.5% of sum insured 3) Annual
commercial/horticultural crops-5 % of sum insured
The difference between actual premium and the rate of Insurance payable by
farmers shall be shared equally by the Centre and State
Claims of full Sum Insured (SI), without capping or reduction in SI.
If the sowing is not done due to adverse weather/climate, claims upto 25% of
sum insured will be paid for prevented sowing/planting risk.
When the crop yield is less than the guaranteed yield of notified crops, the
claim payment equal to shortfall in yield is payable to all insured farmers
If 50% loss in mid-season of crop then on account advance
payment, up to 25% of likely claims will be paid as immediate
relief.
Losses caused by inundation, hailstorm and landslide would be
assessed at individual farm level
Post-harvest losses assessment for damage to crops in cut and
spread in the field up to 14 days on account of cyclonic rain and
unseasonal rain in the entire country.
Use of Remote Sensing Technology and drones to supplement
Crop Cutting Experiments for faster settlement of claims
Implementing agency will be selected by the State Government
through bid

Pradhan Mantri Krishi
Sinchai Yojana(PMKSY)
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana is a national mission to
improve farm productivity and ensure better utilization of the
resources in the country. It is a flagship program launched by
the Government of India in 2015 to improve farm productivity
and ensure better utilization of water resources in agriculture.
It aims to achieve the motto “Har Khet Ko Pani” (Water to
Every Field) and focuses on water conservation, distribution,
and efficiency in irrigation.
Objectives:
The broad objectives of PMKSY are:-
a) Achieve convergence of investments in irrigation at the field
level
(preparation of district level and, if required, sub district level
water use
plans).
b) Enhance the physical access of water on the farm and
expand cultivable
area under assured irrigation (Har Khet ko pani),
c) Integration of water source, distribution and its efficient
use, to make best
use of water through appropriate technologies and practices.
d) Improve on-farm water use efficiency to reduce wastage
and increase
availability both in duration and extent,
e) Enhance the adoption of precision-irrigation and other water saving
technologies (More crop per drop).2
f) Enhance recharge of aquifers and introduce sustainable water conservation
practices
g) Ensure the integrated development of rainfed areas using the watershed
approach towards soil and water conservation, regeneration of ground
water, arresting runoff, providing livelihood options and other NRM
activities.
h) Promote extension activities relating to water harvesting, water
management and crop alignment for farmers and grass root level field
functionaries.
i) Explore the feasibility of reusing treated municipal waste water for
periurban agriculture, and
j) Attract greater private investments in irrigation
1. Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP)
a. Expedite the completion of large irrigation projects and the creation of
irrigation potential.
2. Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP)
a. Focuses on developing minor irrigation projects and ensuring equitable
distribution of water in farms.
b. Sub-components:
i. Command Area Development (CAD)
ii. Groundwater Development
iii. Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI)
3. Per Drop More Crop (PDMC)
a. Promote micro-irrigation systems (drip and sprinkler irrigation) to increase
water use efficiency.
4. Watershed Development (WD)
a. Focus on conserving soil and water in rainfed areas by adopting watershed
management techniques.
Major Benefits
Increased availability of irrigation water.
Reduction in water wastage and energy consumption.
Enhanced agricultural productivity and income.
Promotion of sustainable water management practices.
TAMILNADU GOVERNMENT

The Tamil Nadu government has several agricultural schemes to

help with drought, including water harvesting, micro irrigation,
and custom hiring centers.
Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture
Modernization Project (TNIAMP)
The Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization Project
(TNIAMP) is a World Bank-funded initiative launched by the
Tamil Nadu Government to modernize irrigation practices and
improve agricultural productivity. The project aims to
rehabilitate irrigation infrastructure, promote sustainable water
management, and strengthen agricultural value chains.
Objectives
1. Modernize Irrigation Systems: Rehabilitate and improve existing irrigation
infrastructure to enhance water distribution efficiency.
2. Promote Efficient Water Use: Encourage micro-irrigation techniques such
as drip and sprinkler irrigation.
3. Support Climate-Resilient Agriculture: Help farmers adopt climate-smart
agricultural practices to combat drought and other climate risks.
4. Enhance Farmer Livelihoods: Strengthen agricultural value chains by
promoting market access for farmers.
Components
Irrigation Infrastructure Development
Rehabilitation of tanks, canals, and groundwater systems.
Modernization of irrigation distribution networks.
