1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives data to find the operating empty weight of the aircraft and to calculate the center of gravity.

NOTE : To get accurate results, we recommend to weigh the aircraft on a level area in a hangar with:
. the hangar doors and windows closed.
. the hangar heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems stopped.
Wind and air flows prevent accurate results.

(4) Do a check of the IDG oil level and refill if necessary (Ref. AMM 12-13-24-612-041) .

(1) Retract the spoilers (Ref. TASK 27-60-00-866-002-A).
(2) Retract the flaps (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-009-A) or (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-009-A-01).
(3) Retract the slats (Ref. TASK 27-80-00-866-005-A) or (Ref. TASK 27-80-00-866-008-A).
(4) Make sure that all flight control surfaces are in the neutral position.
(5) Externally and internally examine the aircraft to make sure that all the weighing conditions are correct
(galley equipment, ground power units connected, etc.).

F. Defueling of the Aircraft
(1) Defuel the aircraft for the weight and balance procedure (Ref. WBM 1-20-07).

(4) Close all the access doors/panels if opened.

A. Weigh the Aircraft and calculate the Position of the Center of Gravity

NOTE : You can weigh the aircraft in these configurations:


. aircraft on wheels
. aircraft on jacks
. aircraft on landing gear jacks
Airbus recommends that you weigh the aircraft on wheels.
(1) Weigh the aircraft and calculate the position of the center of gravity with the aircraft on its wheels
(a) Put the weighing devices in position.
(b) Refer to WBM (Ref. WBM 1-80-05) to:
. prepare the aircraft for weighing,
. find the aircraft pitch attitude,
. find the aircraft weight,
. calculate the aircraft center of gravity.

(2) Weigh the aircraft and calculate the position of the center of gravity with the aircraft on jacks
(a) Put the jacks and the weighing devices in position (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-582-002-A).
(b) Jack up the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-581-001-A).
(c) Refer to WBM (Ref. WBM 1-80-04) to:
. prepare the aircraft for weighing,
. level the aircraft,
. find the aircraft weight,
. calculate the aircraft center of gravity.

NOTE : If you use platform scales, you must subtract the weight of the jacks.
(d) Lower the aircraft on its wheels (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-586-002-A).
(3) Weigh the aircraft and calculate the position of the center of gravity with the aircraft on landing gear
jacks
(a) Put the jacks and the weighing devices in position.
(b) Jack up the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-582-003-A).
(c) Refer to WBM (Ref. WBM 1-80-04) to:
. prepare the aircraft for weighing,
. level the aircraft,
. find the aircraft weight,
. calculate the aircraft center of gravity.

NOTE : If you use platform scales, you must subtract the weight of the jacks.

(3) Get a SPIRIT LEVEL to do the leveling procedure.
(4) Go into the FWD cargo compartment.

NOTE : To do this procedure two persons are necessary


. one in the cargo compartment to move the spirit level
. the other near the aircraft to operate the jacks.

B. Aircraft Lifting

CAUTION : YOU MUST NOT LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE SAFETY STAY.

(1) Lift the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-581-001-A).

NOTE : Do not put the safety stay in position before you make the aircraft level.

4. Procedure
Subtask 08-21-00-581-052-A
A. Leveling of the Aircraft
(1) Transverse alignment
(a) Put the spirit level on two adjacent roller tracks, in the ”Y” direction.

NOTE : To install the spirit level, you can find an area easily available between the FWD frame of
the FWD cargo door and the frame FR34.
If the distance between two adjacent roller tracks is more than the spirit level length,
install the spirit level on a straight RULER - STEEL of sufficient length.
(b) Operate the hydraulic jack below the wing to get the transverse alignment.
(2) Longitudinal alignment
(a) Put the spirit level on a roller track, in the ”X” direction.
(b) Operate the hydraulic jack below the fuselage to get the longitudinal alignment.
(3) When you have done the longitudinal alignment, do a check of the transverse alignment.
(4) Put the safety stay in position between FR73 and FR74.
5. Close-up

A. Aircraft Lowering
(1) Lower the aircraft on its wheels (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-586-002-A).

4. Procedure
Subtask 08-21-00-581-056-A
A. Leveling of the Aircraft
(1) Transverse alignment
(a) Put the spirit level on two adjacent seat tracks, in the ”Y” direction.

NOTE : To install the spirit level, you can find an area easily available between the FWD frame of
the FWD passenger crew/door and the frame FR40.
If the distance between the two adjacent seat tracks is more than the spirit level length,
install the spirit level on a straight RULER - STEEL of sufficient length.

. Make sure that the the spirit level (or the ruler) is set on the seat tracks.

NOTE : If the carpet top level, or the floor top level is higher than the seat track top level, install
2 shims that have the same thickness, between the seat tracks, and the spirit level (or the
ruler).
There must be a gap between the floor and the spirit level (or the ruler).
(b) Operate the hydraulic jack below the wing to get the transverse alignment.
(2) Longitudinal alignment
(a) Put the spirit level on a seat track, in the ”X” direction.
(b) Operate the hydraulic jack below the fuselage to get the longitudinal alignment.
(3) When you have done the longitudinal alignment, do a check of the transverse alignment.
(4) Put the safety stay in position between FR73 and FR74.

(2) Get access to the parameter call-up menus (Ref. TASK 31-36-00-740-008-A).
(3) On the MCDU keypad enter the alpha call-up code into the scratchpad:
. PTCH for the pitch angle to do a check of the longitudinal alignment,
. ROLL for the roll angle to do a check of the transverse alignment.

Subtask 08-21-00-581-054-A
A. Leveling of the Aircraft

CAUTION : YOU MUST NOT LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE SAFETY STAY.

(1) Lift and level the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-581-001-A).

NOTE : Do not put the safety stay in position before you make the aircraft level.
(2) Read the pitch and roll angles at the bottom of the display (scratchpad).

NOTE : Angle value:


. A positive degree value angle of the roll means that the right wing is down.
. A negative degree value angle of the roll means that the left wing is down.
. A positive degree value angle of the pitch means that the nose of the aicraft is up.
. A negative degree value angle of the pitch means that the nose of the aircraft is down.
(3) Operate the hydraulic jack below the wing at rib 9 to get the transverse alignment.
(4) Operate the hydraulic jack below the fuselage at FR8 to get the longitudinal alignment.
(5) When you have done the longitudinal alignment, do a check of the transverse alignment.
(6) The pitch and roll angles must be 0 plus or minus 0.8 degrees.

(7) Put the safety stay in position between FR73 and FR74.

(1) Lift the aircraft on the jacks (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-581-001-A)

NOTE : Do not put the safety stay in position before you make the aircraft level.
Subtask 08-22-00-480-050-A
D. Put the Sighting Rods and the Sight Tube in Position
(1) Put the sighting rods SIGHTING RODS SET (98D08103500000) (98D08103500106) and
(98D08103500107) at points 2L and 2R on the wing lower surface.
(2) Put the sighting rods SIGHTING RODS SET (98D08103500000) (98D08103500101) and
(98D08103500102) at points 11 and 12 under the fuselage.
(3) Put the SIGHT TUBE in position near the aircraft. The sight point is located on the Z axis at -3500
mm (-137.7953 in.) from the datum plane.

4. Procedure
Subtask 08-22-00-210-050-A
A. Aircraft Leveling
(Ref. Fig. 08-22-00-991-00300-A - Transverse and Longitudinal Alignment)
(1) Operate the hydraulic jacks installed at RIB8 to align points 2L and 2R with the sight tube. You get the
tranverse alignment.
(2) Operate the hydraulic jacks installed at FR8 to align points 11 and 12 with the sight tube. You get the
longitudinal alignment.
(3) When you have done the longitudinal alignment, do a check of the transverse alignment.
(4) Put the safety stay in position between FR73 an FR74.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the sighting rods.
(2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other
items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Aircraft Lowering
(1) Lower the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-586-002-A).
