SUSTAINABILITY &
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

In 2023, CooperVision partnered with Plastic Bank—a social enterprise building recycling ecosystems in coastal
communities—to stop ocean-bound plastic production, by offsetting their plastic consumption through Plastic
Bank’s Certified Plastic Neutral programme.
CooperVision purchase credits equal to the weight of the plastic we use in their one-day contact lenses and
packaging, and Plastic Bank collect an equal amount of plastic waste from the oceans.
Plastics are collected by local people who receive a "premium" based on the material
they collect. This premium covers necessities such as groceries, cooking fuel, school
tuition, and health insurance.
