World’s smallest snake found
Scientists turned over hundreds of rocks to rediscover the world’s
smallest known snake. The Barbados threadsnake is as thin as
a strand of spaghetti. It grows to about 4 inches long—the size
of a small earthworm—and likes to burrow in the ground. The
snake is so good at hiding that it hadn’t been spotted since 2006,
causing some experts to fear it was extinct. Finding it “reminds
us that we still have something important left,” a researcher said.

India revives visas for Chinese tourists
India has started issuing tourist visas (documents that allow
entry) to Chinese citizens after a five-year suspension, signaling
that relations between the two countries are improving. India
and China share a 2,100-mile border, but India banned visas
for Chinese tourists in 2020 after military clashes at a border
crossing killed 20 Indian soldiers. A Chinese spokesperson said
allowing visitors to enter India again was a “positive move.”

Ceasefire agreement reached
At a meeting in Putrajaya on July 28, the leaders of Thailand

battles between the countries’ armies that had taken place

in the fighting, and thousands fled their homes. The conflict,
which dates back more than 100 years, involves disagreements
over land that both Thailand and Cambodia claim to own.

Instructions
1. Grate the zucchini using a box grater or a food processor.
Place the grated zucchini in the center of a clean kitchen
towel. Fold up the corners, then twist the towel to squeeze
excess liquid through it over a large bowl. (This step will
prevent the zucchini from getting mushy in your dish!)
2. Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil and cook the
orzo to al dente (firm), according to package directions.
3. While the orzo cooks, heat the olive oil over medium heat in a
large skillet. Add the garlic and cook until the garlic is golden
and the oil is infused with its flavor, about 1 minute. Remove
and discard the garlic.
4. Add the zucchini, pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to
the skillet and cook until the zucchini has cooked down and
turned golden and caramelized, about 10 to 12 minutes.
