UPSC

▪ Lee Comssion - 1923


▪ Established on 1 October 1926 as Public Service Commission, it was later reconstituted as Federal
Public Service Commission by the Government of India Act 1935; only to be renamed as today's
Union Public Service Commission after the independence.
▪ conducts direct recruitment of officers to the All India Services and the Central Civil
Services (Group A and B) through examinations.
▪ It is also required to be consulted by the Government in matters relating to the appointment,
transfer, promotion and disciplinary matters. The commission reports directly to the President.
▪ The commission is headquartered at Dholpur House, in New Delhi and functions through its own
secretariat.
The UPSC Exam is one of the most competitive exams in India. It is the gateway to a
career in the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service, and other
prestigious civil services.

It is a long and challenging journey, but it is possible to succeed if you are willing to put
in the hard work and dedication.

UPSC preparation involves forming a well-structured study plan, consistent effort, and
a focused approach to succeed in the highly competitive Civil Services Examination.
UPSC - Eligibility Criteria

▪ Nationality: Indian

▪ Age: 21–32 (General), relaxation for others

▪ Education: Any graduate degree

▪ Attempts: General (6), OBC (9), SC/ST (Unlimited)

Strategies and Tips to Prepare for the UPSC CSE

1. The right mindset is crucial if you want to grow in life.

2. Start your preparation at least a year before the Prelims exam.

3. Analyse the Syllabus Thoroughly

4. Analyze Previous Year Questions (PYQs)

5. Start reading a newspaper regularly and make short notes based on relevant articles (Magazines)
6. Focus on Conceptual Clarity - Read the basic NCERT books and then go through the UPSC

Syllabus relevant Textbooks.

7. To attend the classes regularly and revise the content after class.

8. Make use of the internet and social media for your preparation carefully.

9. Start learning the basics of answer writing.

10. Don’t Neglect the CSAT Paper

11. Join a Test Series for both Prelims and Mains.

12. Revision is the Key

6:00 AM – 8:00 AM: First Study Session (Fresh Mind – Core Subjects)
1. Focus on high-retention subjects like Polity, Economy, or History.
2. Make short notes or revise previously covered content.

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Breakfast Break


1. Healthy, quick breakfast.
2. Avoid screens to stay mindful and refreshed.
8:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Second Study Session (Class/GS/Current Affairs/ Optional Subjects)
1. Deep-dive into regular class.
2. Practice daily The Hindu / Indian Express newspaper analysis + current affairs notes.

10:30 AM – 11:00 PM: Break / Relaxation


1. Tea or coffee, stretching, or light music.
