Removal
Removal/installation of timing chain requires:
Sump removal.
Engine at TDC on No.1 cylinder.
Install camshaft alignment tools 1 , 2 & 3 .
Ensure camshaft alignment tool abuts cylinder head.
Insert flywheel timing pin 4 .
Slacken central bolt on each camshaft adjuster 5 .
Remove:
Timing chain tensioner 6 .
Central bolt on each camshaft adjuster 5 .
Camshaft position (CMP) sensor discs.
Camshaft adjusters.
Install flywheel locking tool 7 .
Compress oil pump chain tensioner and install locking pin 8 .
Remove:
Crankshaft pulley central bolt and hub.
Blanking plugs from cylinder block and cylinder head 9 .
Timing chain guide retaining pins 10 & 11 .
Timing chain guide bolt 12 .
Tensioner rail, chain guide, timing chain and crankshaft sprocket as an assembly.
Balancer shaft cover.
Install balancer shaft alignment tool 13 .
Installation
Ensure flywheel timing pin inserted 4 .
Ensure camshaft alignment tool abuts cylinder head 1 , 2 & 3 .
Ensure balancer shaft alignment tool installed correctly 13 .
Install tensioner rail, chain guide, timing chain and crankshaft sprocket as an assembly.
Install crankshaft pulley hub. Tighten crankshaft pulley central bolt finger tight.
Note: Crankshaft pulley central bolt MUST only be used once.
Remove oil pump chain tensioner locking pin 8 .
Tighten crankshaft pulley central bolt. Tightening torque: 300 Nm.
Remove:
Flywheel locking tool 7 .
Balancer shaft alignment tool 13 .
Install:
Camshaft adjusters.
Camshaft position (CMP) sensor discs.
Central bolt on each camshaft adjuster 5 . Finger tighten bolts.
Timing chain pre-tensioning tool 14 .
Screw in adjusting screw until in contact with tensioner rail.
Install camshaft position (CMP) sensor disc setting tool and fit to cylinder head 15 .
Ensure dowel pins locate in holes of camshaft position (CMP) sensor discs.
Pre-load timing chain with pre-tensioning tool to 0,6 Nm 14 .
