KEYBOARD

Meaning of a Keyboard
 A keyboard is an input device.
 It is used to type letters, numbers, and symbols into the computer.
 It helps us enter data and give commands.

Main Parts of a Keyboard


 Alphabet keys – A to Z (for typing words)
 Number keys – 0 to 9 (for typing numbers)
 Function keys – F1 to F12 (used for special tasks)
 Arrow keys – ↑, ↓, ←, → (used to move the cursor)
 Special keys – Enter, Spacebar, Backspace, Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Delete
 Punctuation keys –. , ; : ? ! @ (used for punctuation and symbols)

Functions of Common Keyboard Keys


 Enter – Moves cursor to next line or selects an option
 Spacebar – Adds space between words
 Backspace – Deletes characters to the left
 Delete – Removes characters to the right
 Shift – Used with other keys to type capital letters or symbols
 Caps Lock – Turns capital letters on or off
 Ctrl (Control) – Used with other keys for shortcuts
 Alt (Alternate) – Used for commands and shortcuts

Keyboard Care Tips


 Do not eat or drink near the keyboard
 Wash or clean hands before using the keyboard
 Press keys gently to avoid damage

Meaning of File Management
 File management is the process of creating, naming, saving, and organizing files and folders in a
computer.
 It helps us to store and find information easily.

 Examples: a document file, a music file, a picture file.

Meaning of a Folder
 A folder is a container used to store files or other folders.
 Folders help us to keep our files well-organized.

 Video files – (e.g., Movie.mp4)
