1.1 Overview
These instructions describe how to configure the DICOM options in the ACUSON Juni‐
perTM Ultrasound Systems.
The DICOM option implements computer networking standards for transmitting medical
images over the customer network. In the systems, DICOM protocols allow ultrasound
systems attached to the network to transmit images to a DICOM server.
A DICOM Host, DICOM Storage Server, DICOM Modality Worklist Server configured prop‐
erly perform DICOM storage, worklist, and printing operations activated from the DICOM
windows in the system software.
CAUTION
Authorized Service Personnel Only
The installation and service of the equipment described here are to be performed
by qualified personnel who are employed by Siemens or one of its affiliates or
who are otherwise authorized by Siemens or one of its affiliates to provide such
services.
Assemblers and other persons who are not employed by or otherwise directly
affiliated with or authorized by Siemens or one of its affiliates are directed to
contact one of the local offices of Siemens or one of its affiliates before at‐
tempting installation or service procedures.
CAUTION
The system contain components that are sensitive to damage by electrostatic dis‐
charge (ESD).
Observe all ESD protective procedures and use ESD protective equipment in‐
cluding an ESD wrist strap when the protective covers are removed from the
system.
CAUTION
The system contain hazardous voltages that can range from 90 VAC to 264 VAC
and cause serious injury or death.
Only authorized or Siemens-trained service personnel are permitted to re‐
move protective covers and access the energized components of this system.
If unexplained failures occur, contact the Siemens Customer Care Service Center.
