SEVENTEEN Join The Ranks of Abhorrent, Repulsive, Dastardly Misandrists - Asian Junkie

SEVENTEEN has been criticized for allegedly joining the ranks of misandrists following a controversial gesture during a Music Bank interview. The backlash stems from incel groups reacting negatively to the group's actions, which they perceive as an insult. SEVENTEEN have added themselves to

the ledger of misandrists, recently joining
the list during the interview section of
Music Bank.

(ENG) Interview with SEVE…

Oh … oh the horror. How could do they do

this? Betraying their fellow men!

Get me my fainting couch!

——

If you aren’t familiar, Korean incel groups

have been telling on themselves recently,
kicking up a fuss about that pinching hand
gesture, basically thinking anybody who
does it is insulting their tiny cocks.
!
Normally, this would just be something
stupid to laugh off, but the thing is
companies are actually listening to their
whining, which makes the fuss quite
serious and terrible. In particular, Jaejae
has been made the face of this so-called
anti-male movement, which makes this
clip funnier since member Seungkwan
and Jaejae are close.

The hate against Jaejae was and is still ridiculous. But I'm
not surprised at all. She's a south korean woman who
doesn't care about beauty standards or gender roles, her
whole MMTG team is made up of 90% women and she's
actually quite funny. So of course incels would hate her.

They also hates on her because the school she used to

Now this is big dick energy. Even then the incels are
obviously only witch hunting for women.
Enjoying the discussions once western journalists started
reporting on this issue though lol.

Better yet, consider streaming their bsides, which are

not a bland mess that was clearly taken over by HYBE.
Especially Anyone, which I am convinced was the
alternative title track.

I’m very much convinced that the title track was

supposed to be Heaven’s Cloud since it ;ts the
album’s visual concept so well, music-wise and lyric-
wise (mentions watercolor drawings that’s covered in
;ve paints) and also the fact that the members
themselves keep heavily expressing their fondness
of the song (earliest, on weverse before the tracklist
was even out and most recently, in fansigns where
NO ONE said their favorite song of the album was
RTL, kinda sus? and no one bothered to hype up
RTL at all, even Seungcheol who often takes pride in
ALL their songs but in yesterday’s fansign, he only
mentioned HC)

It’s unfortunate the pallet for the album is so ugly too,

something like IU’s pallet would have been a fun
concept, but I’ve seen better videos in their concert
VRs.

That doesn’t surprise me at all; it’s clear as day when

you look at the album credits. I feel so bad for
Prism;lter; they’ve been providing such excellent
mixing for SVTs albums for years and they got
shoved aside for Bang PD’s ego. The difference in
production quality between the title and bsides is so
obvious it’s nearly embarrassing.

But of course we can’t say anything bad about our

faves music, even if it’s the music that they had the
least say in.

i do much prefer heaven's cloud and anyone but

ready to love isn't bad by any means and still miles
better than anything hybe's put out this year. the
mixing and vocal processing bother me the most.

that being said, the album as a whole is easily their

best since an ode so i can't stay too mad. their
concepts, artistic direction and graphic design have
been shit for years so that sadly isn't anything new. at
least the packaging this time is decent.

I didn’t say RTL is bad. I simply mentioned how HC

would ;t more as the title track for Your Choice
concept-wise and how it felt like they changed the
title track from HC to RTL last minute?
That being said, I personally don’t think RTL is a bad
song but it’s mediocre at best when placed in the
same album as amazing works such as Heaven’s
Cloud, Anyone, GAM3 BO1, etc.
Edit: While I’m at it, I also want to express my
thoughts about the mediocre MV we got for RTL. All
of the sets were super pretty but they can’t hold on to
even one scene for more than 5 seconds except for
the group’s dance shot so the pace of the MV was
super distracting with all the running and ambiguous
shots of members staring into the matrix, not to
mention the girl in the MV served 0 purpose. This is
such a huge downgrade from Left & Right’s fun and
energetic story throughout the MV and ending up
with shooting up their leader in a rocket-car where he
also landed safely and continued to dance and from
Home;run’s grand diamond chase/heist MV altering
from one/two member(s) in a thief hunt to another
member retrieving the diamond.

Like I said, I’ve seen them psychicly commune with

jying whales and fuck around painting a giant mural
in concert VR; this is so boring in comparison.

Maybe Big Hit caught them spending all their money

on fun MVs and cut them off, lol.

I mean, I can’t tell you how to feel, but I do not feel

the same. I know I’ve dragged HYBE for their
production before, but they have done some decent
work for TXT and Gfriend in the past, certainly work
that I prefer to this. Heck, I’d prefer furry anthem
Cat&Dog to this—at least Vernon, Jun, and Joshua
would have a grand old time.

I know you probably feel that Seventeen elevated this

song, but they simply aren’t present enough for me to
feel that. Seventeen’s music has always featured
Woozi’s elegant touch for layering, Bumzu’s careful
arrangement, and Prism;lter’s crystal-clear mixing.
Without their familiarity with the members’ voices
guiding the song, it lacks identity. This isn’t a
Seventeen song; it’s just a song Seventeen is singing.

With the Covid scare and the fact that this album is
going to sell a gazillion copies anyway, I don’t see
why I should settle with a subpar song just because
it’s better than somebody else and I guess that
means they win the Kpop ;ght. The b-sides might
save this album, but imo they don’t bring it to a level
that beats Heng:arae, even with the snafu around
Left&Right. At least Left&Right was a soundalike of a
bop, not a milquetoast BTS b-side.

Anyway, here’s a video of Woozi in a half-shirt crop

top, which I think we can at least all agree on is
downright amazing:

“for Bang PD’s ego” is the best case scenario and

putting it lightly. My worst case scenario is he
wanted a snippet of that sweet royalty money. And
knowing how the title track/lead single would be the
most promoted song of the album, it would have the
most streams/plays hence the most royalty. This
might be a reach but I think this could also be the
reason why the title track was changed from HC to
RTL. Take all of this with a grain of salt, these are all
my worst case scenarios in my head which I also
rarely express on twitter in fear of “saying anything
bad about our faves music is a sign of
ungratefulness” or “spreading negativity during cb”
so instead of that, I try to think of the best case
scenario and think positively, which is “Bang PD is
such a nice CEO! He de;nitely wants his artists to
grow so he gets involved directly with his artists
That’s so nice of him to do that”

2 ⥅

Melindustry > Jo − ⚑

Eh, if he really wanted that sweet royalty money he

wouldn’t have shared the spot with four other
composers—and with ARMY focused on keeping
Butter at the top I doubt they’ll contribute. I suppose
this song is boring and sunmery enough to catch the
public’s attention though.

I’m not honestly interested in staying in twitter

fandom’s good graces. It’s such a toxic and
exhausting place, and I’ve spent enough money on
SVT merch and tickets to put me up at least a few
hundred streams of a boring song. Men at the top of
Kpop companies shouldn’t get any support, that’s
how you get JYP’s cult and the clusterfuck that was
YG.
