Technical Bulletin 31_MNS-31 release_new RIB-6 software

1. We are proud to announce MNS-31 has now been finally released.

Please find: NS4000_MFD_2.00.012, build 2527 !

Please be informed that MNS31 gives user the possibility to upgrade the software without
uninstalling/reinstalling software from control panel.
Upgrade can be performed from v. 2.00.010 and later, which means MNS29 and later.
However if you are out for service on a critical system, it would be better to perform a clear
reinstallation using image file for OS.

IMPORTANT !!!
This automatic upgrade doesn’t work for upgrading MNS31 “rev.A” to current version.
Here a full reinstallation should be applied.

About the previously mentioned problem in setting NMEA talker in localhost:


 outputtalker must now be placed in: config/global/global/options
not in
config/global/global/nmeasentencesetupnmeaout1 (or out2,...) - like it could be before.

A minor issue was found regarding wind data display, we will inform you how to fix it shortly.

2. RIB6.1 is released with improved functionality.

 Increasing the sampling frequency at small scales up to 50 MHz


 The algorithm for primary processing of video signal modified.

RIB6.1 is same hardware as old RIB6 but with updated software v 3.7.
New boot loader and firmware is required to load v3.7 and this upgrade is therefore
not possible in field !

RIB6.1 is only supported in MNS31 or higher !

Older versions of RIB6 should always be upgraded to version 3.3 according to


RIB6 fw upgrade guide. This upgrade can be performed in field.

How do I know version of Boot Loader and firmware?

Connect to service port using serial cable and HyperTerminal.


Command PRINTENV have one line added in RIB6.1 called uboot_ver=0x02.
This line is simply not available in old RIB6.

To determine firmware version, let RIB6 boot in normal way and version will be
shown at the end of booting procedure, like below:
