prior to cleaning, finishing, treatment and application of coatings.
2. Conceal fasteners, except as otherwise shown.
3. Maintain continuity of line and accurate relationship of planes and angles. Provide secure
attachment and support at mechanical joints, with hairline fit of contracting members.
4. Reinforce work as necessary for performance requirements and for support with
the structure. Separate dissimilar metals with bituminous paint or preformed separators
which will prevent corrosion.
5. Finish Hardware Preparation: Prepare aluminum frame units to receive mortise
type and concealed finish hardware, including cutouts, reinforcing, drilling and
tapping in accordance with the final finish hardware schedule and templates provided
by the hardware supplier. Locate finish hardware as shown on final approved shop
drawings, or if not shown, in accordance with "Recommended Locations for Builder's
Hardware", published by the National Building's Hardware Association".
B. Aluminum Frames and Doors
1. Fabricate tubular frame assemblies and aluminum doors, as shown, with
mechanical and welded joints in accordance with manufacturer's standards and with
concealed fasteners.
2. Provide members of the size, shape and profile shown in drawings. Reinforce
internally as necessary, to support the required loads.
3. Apply a bituminous coating of an approximately 30-mil dry film thickness or
other suitable permanent, separator, on the concealed contact surfaces of dissimilar
materials, or surfaces in contact with concrete or concrete masonry units, before
assembly or installation, wherever there is possibility of corrosive or chemical
reaction between dissimilar materials or metals.
2.04 ALUMINUM FINISHES
General:
1. All aluminum sections shall be powder coated, non-metallic of color designated by
CLIENT, with a protective clear UV resisting overcoat and applied by an applicator approved
in writing by the coating manufacturer and under the coating manufacturer's direction. Pre-
treat aluminum to obtain primer bond. Color and sheen shall be uniform with no variations
detectable by the naked eye at a 1500 mm distance.
2. After fabrication of metal work, prepare surfaces for finishing in accordance
with recommendations of aluminum producer, finisher or processor.
Finish all components of each assembly simultaneously so as to attain complete
uniformity of color. Adjust and control direction of mechanical finishes (as specified) to
achieve the best overall visual effect in work, as determined in consultation with a CLIENT
Representative.
3. Color Tolerance: The CLIENT Representative reserves the right to reject aluminum
units because of color variations which are visually objectionable, but only where
variation exceeds range of variations established by the manufacturer prior to work,
by means of range samples which have been accepted by CLIENT.
Prepare range samples on extrusions of profiles and shapes similar to, and at least 50%
as large as, the actual members of work.
