01. Safety instructions

Throughout th is manual, the symbol is used to draw your attention to points which require special
precautions to be taken so as to prevent accidents and injury.
• Construction work-sites are busy places The ground is often wet and muddy which makes it difficult
for other workers to avoid machines which are not being driven carefully. The machines are designed
to comply with current technical and safety directives and they can be used under several different
conditions, but they nevertheless constitute a risk of bodily injury for the user or for third parties (or
damage to equipment) if they are not used correctly.

• Be careful and «think safety».

• DO NOT operate this machine if you have not received precise instructions concerning its use.

• The operation and maintenance manual is designed to enable the user to become familiarised with
the machine and way to use it. It contains important information on how to use the machine completely
safely, correctly and very effectively. Observing these instructions enables the user to avoid danger,
reduce repair costs and machine down time and to increase the reliability and the life-time of the
machine.

• The operation and maintenance manual must be available in the machine or on the work-site. The
instructions for use must be read and applied by all persons who are responsible for working with and
on the machine, in the following cases, for example:

– Adjustments, troubleshooting during work, removal of fuel and consumables.

– Maintenance (overhauls, inspections, repairs) or transport.

• In addition to the instructions for use and the regulations concerning the prevention of accidents and
the protection of the environment in the country concerned and on the places where the machine is
used, the operator must also observe recognised general technical technical directives concerning
safety and work compliance.

Safety instructions concerning the use

of the tool ecaDIAG
The use of the MecaDiag tool is reserved exclusively for maintenance personnel with the
relevant training provided by Mecalac or a Mecalac-approved training provider.
In order to avoid accident risks, before connecting the tool to the machine’s diagnostic socket,
the maintenance technician must:
Park the machine on level ground.
Remove any tools mounted on the quick coupler.
Extend the attachment and leave it resting on the ground.

Downloading
Before carrying out any downloading:
Park the machine on level ground.
Remove the tool from the quick coupler.
Rest the attachment on the ground.

WARNING
Downloading the incorrect software can cause the tool or the oscillating axle to unlock or can activate
a function when switching on the ignition of the machine.
It is strictly forbidden to download the software of another machine model.
The downloading of any software must only be carried out as part of a change of control unit or an
update recommended by Mecalac.
After any downloading, the technician must test all machine functions before releasing the machine
to the driver.

Remote coding
After any remote coding, the technician must test all machine functions
before releasing the machine to the driver.
Warning! An incorrect remote coding of the quick coupler can activate
the unlocking.

Settings
After introducing any settings, the technician must test all machine functions
before releasing the machine to the driver.

Learning mode
After any learning routine, the technician must test all machine functions
before releasing the machine to the driver.

Actuator test
Before testing any actuator, the attachment must be extended and left to rest on the ground.
After starting the machine, the technician must test all machine functions before releasing
the machine to the driver.

Changing a control unit

Before changing one or several control units:
Park the machine on level ground.
Non-contractual photographs.

Remove any tools mounted on the quick coupler.

Extend the attachment and leave it resting on the ground.
In the event of changing one or several control units, before starting the machine there must
be a check done to ensure any on-board software corresponds correctly to the machine and
the remote coding corresponds to the options fitted to the machine.

02. Description of the machine

The 10MCR excavator consists of a rigid central chassis, a turret, a cab, equipment consisting of three elements
and a backfilling blade.

Chassis
The chassis is equipped with multi roller tracks.

Transmission
The transmission has a closed hydraulic circuit controlled by hydraulic foot pedal (excavator mode) or left
control lever (Skid Steer mode)

Turret
- The upper carriage is connected to the undercarriage by a slewing ring supporting the cab, the motor,
the hydraulic floor, the attachment and the counterweight:
• The internally toothed slewing ring is driven by a hydraulic motor with a brake. Full 360° rotation.
• The 4 in-line cylinder turbo diesel engine is water-cooled.

Cab
The monocoque cab is sound-insulated and heated.

Controls
This excavator includes an operating mode selector system:
• Excavator mode: enables the machine to be operated as an excavator (turret rotation and equipment
control using control levers, travelling using foot pedals).
• Loader mode: enables the machine to be operated as a compact loader on tracks (travelling and
counter-rotation using the left control lever, intermediate boom raising using the right control lever).

Seat
A sprung, damped seat, height-adjustable and adjustable longitudinally.

Equipment
The equipment is in the centre of the machine. It is made up of four elements: the boom, the intermediate
boom, the coupling and the dipper.
• The boom is controlled by a cylinder permitting displacement of 130°.
• The intermediate boom is equipped with an offset jib (option) and by the action of a hydraulic cylinder
it enables the dipperstick and the tool to be offset symmetrically to dig beyond the machine’s range of
motion.
• At the end of the dipperstick is the quick coupling that enables the bucket or tool to be changed from the
cab without manual intervention.
• The bucket or tool has mechanical and automatic locking, only their unlocking is controlled hydraulically.
This quick coupling Mecalac is also equipped with the ACTIVE LOCK function, which allows for play
compensation if the tool is worn. Consequently, the tool is held perfectly without unwanted movement
caused by wear at the tool fixing points.

Upper structure computer 1.40 Calibration of temperature sender water/oil.
Addition of a parameter to read the version of the computer hadware Parameter/traceability/ECU hardware version.
Information : from version1.11 it is no more necessary to calibrate the water and oil temperature,
this is done by BOSCH and there is no access anymore with MecaDiag (failure of apprenticeship).
Special demand (Holland) : addition of a parameter which allows the offset in loader modus
Parameter/users parameter/offset loader mode.
Caution : this function prevents to get the slewing back in the loader mode.
