G. 1. Never True 2. Sometimes true 3. Always True 4. Always True 5. Always True
H. Solve each of the following problems.
1. Sofia paid ₱75.25 + ₱29.15 + ₱35.75 = ₱140.15 in all. Her ₱200 would be enough to pay all the things she bought.
2. Father bought 1.5 kg +1.75 kg + 1.25 k = 4.5 kg of fruits
3. The total weight of goods Mrs. Barredo sold that day was (19.25 + 45.32 + 52.85) kg = 117.42 kg.
4. Marivic got a change of 2(₱500) – (₱315.75 + 135.50) = (₱1000.00 - ₱451.25) = ₱548.75
5. 141.56 – 72.35 = 69.21; 72.35 – 69.21 = 3.14, the other number is 69.21.
6. How much greater is the underlined digit than the same digit that is not underlined?
a. 6.763 a hundred times greater b. 64.524 a thousand times greater.
c. 185.5187 Underlined digit is ten thousand times greater
Solution: In, a. 6/0.06 = 600/6 = 100 b. 4/.004 = 4000/4 = 1000 c. . 80/0.008 = 80 000/8 = 10 000
7. Zoie bought a total of (11.5 m x ₱11.50) = ₱132.25.
8. Onel walks farther by 111.45 m – 100.55 m = 10.9 m.
9. Some possible numbers are : 0.420, 0.531, 0.642, 0.753, 0.864, 0.975
10. L = 15.12 m ,W = 12.7 m ; P= 2(l+w) , P = 2(15.12 m + 12.7 m) = 55.64 m.
11. 2(2.318) + 16.783 = 21.419. The number is 21.419.
12. 550.24 mm – (185.12 mm + 185.12 mm ) = 550.24 – 370.24 = 180 mm, the third side
Challenge!
1. 42.5 L – (5.79 L + 9.2 L + 7.35 L + 3.14 L + 6.10 L) = 42.5 L – 31.49 L = 11. 01 L, therefore the tank has 11.01 L + 10.5 L
more. The tank holds a total of 21.51 liters of gasoline after it filled again.
2. a. 0.75 m x 30 = 22.5 m total of cloth for 30 pillowcases. b. Yes, she has enough cloth to make 30 pillowcases.
3. ₱25 270 – ₱85.50 = ₱25 184.50. ₱25 184.50/2 = ₱12 592.25 each of them should have if they had the same
amount. So, Jhamia has ₱12 592.25 while Sean has ₱12 592.25 + ₱85.50 = ₱12 667.75.
4. The internal dimensions are: L = 14.6 cm, W = 12.7 cm and H = 10.4 cm. Since the wood is 24 mm or 2.4 cm;
a. So, the external dimensions are:
L = 14.6 + 2.4 = 17.0 cm, W = 12.7 + 2.4 = 15.1 cm, and H = 10.4 + 2.4 cm = 12.8 cm.
b. Volume of Wood = External Volume – Internal Volume
External volume = 17 x 15.1 x 12.8 cm3 = 3285.76 cm3 ,
Internal volume = 14.6 x 12.7 x 10.4 cm3 = 1928.39 cm3.
Volume of wood = (3285.76 – 1928.39) cm3 = 1357..37 cm3.
5. a. {2, 3} → 0.2, 0.23, 0.3, 0.32
b. {4, 5} → 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, 0.54
c. {6, 7} → 0.6, 0.67, 0.7, 0.76
6. After 12 liters of water are taken out of a tank 4/5 full, it was only 4/7 full. That means the 12 liters were 4/5 – 4/7
= 28/35 – 20/35 = 8/35. That means 12 liters filled 8/35 of the tank. The full tank contained 12 x 35/8 = 105/2 or
52.5 liters
