GOAL

A. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Concepts, principles, and approaches in the understanding of genders in the Philippine towards an effective gender responsive society.
Gender and Society is a three-unit course that ignites awareness to the students’ understanding of our country’s current problems in Gender inequality, Gender
mainstreaming, Gender preferences, and the likes. It equips the students with a broader perspective on their gender roles as they discern stereotypes and discriminations
as dictated by the society. It prepares students to be more gender sensitive in words and in actions as they build a new society filled with gender responsive individuals

B. PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO):

H. COURSE POLICIES
1. ATTENDANCE POLICY. Students' attendance is defined as active participation in an online and weekly threaded discussion, digital submission of performance
tasks/assignments, and completion of a quiz/test/exam. Students are required to attend their scheduled classes.
• Attendance will be checked by the instructor/class secretary at every meeting. Punctuality and regular attendance to all classes is required for all students.
• The grace period for the latecomers would be 15 minutes only. Beyond the grace period would be considered tardy/late.
• Absences of more than three (3) consecutive days of the prescribed number of class or laboratory periods during the school term except with valid reason, earn
no credit for the course or subject. (Section 9. Policy on attendance/BCC STUDENT HANDBOOK)
• The instructor may at his/her discretion, exempt a student for a just and reasonable ground, provided however that the student is not excused from keeping up
with lessons, assignments and examinations. (Section 9. Policy on attendance/BCC STUDENT HANDBOOK)
• A student who is absent with a valid excuse and an excuse letter will have the absence marked as excused, but no attendance mark will be given. The student
is allowed ONE WEEK from the day of return to complete any missed activities or quizzes.
• The absence of more than fifteen percent (15%) of the required number of meetings in lecture will result in a “DROPPED’ grade.

2. NETIQUETTE GUIDELINES. Strictly adhere to the netiquette and video conferencing etiquette presented.
• Be respectful. Use kind words and respect everyone’s ideas.
• Use your full real name. Log in with your complete name for proper identification.
• Keep your camera on. Unless instructed otherwise to ensure you are visible to demonstrate attendance and engagement.
• Wear appropriate attire. Wear proper attire as is attending a physical class.
• Mute your mic when not speaking. This avoids background noise and disruptions.
• Stay Attentive. Avoid multitasking and remain focused on the class.
• Follow instructions. Listen carefully and attentively.
• Students must enroll in the Google Classroom and be included in the class GC. Use the students legal name as a username in all learning platforms
(messenger, Google Classroom, etc.) using the format (last name, first name, middle initial).
3. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN LEARNING AT THEIR OWN PACE. Materials/links are provided.
4. MAINTAIN A STANDARD OF ACADEMIC HONESTY. Students are expected to exhibit personal accountability. Plagiarizing and cheating will
automatically get 70 and subject for disciplinary action.
5. PERFORMANCE TASKS/ASSIGNMENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED ON OR BEFORE THE DUE DATE. Failure to submit on the due date will
automatically get 70.
6. MIDTERM/FINAL EXAMINATIONS.
- There will be 2 Examinations (Midterm and Final).
- A student who failed to take a scheduled examination shall only be allowed to take the special examination due to the following valid reasons:
• Illness (supported by a Doctor’s Certificate/excuse letter signed by the Student, Guardian and the College Dean)
• Hospitalization (with a Hospital Discharge Certificate)
• Death of an Immediate Family Member (parents, siblings, spouse, children, grandparents/aunts/uncles (only if they are primary guardian))
• Emergency cases (i.e. fire, earthquake, accident, or such similar occurrences)
• Those who will be taking National Examinations (i.e. Civil Service Examination, TESDA Assessment, and the like)
- Student-examinee for the special examination is required to apply for a special test approved by the College Dean. He/she has to present the approved letter
(hard copy) to the instructor before taking the test.
- No make-up quizzes, homework, or exercises will be given not unless any valid reason (with proofs) mentioned above has been provided.
- Missing more than one exam; having fewer than the required number of quizzes or assignments; or missing exercises will ensure a failing grade, 5.0, in the
course.
- Take responsibility for your education.
- You are responsible for all information and materials in sessions and classes whether you are present or not.
8. After the final exam, students are given one (1) week to submit the final performance task. Should a student fail to comply on time, policy no. 5 stipulated herein
will be applied.
9. Once the final grades have been officially submitted at the Dean and Registrar’s Office, complaints and changes will no longer be entertained.
10. BE HUMBLE. Practice courtesy at all times.
