About Master of Public Health – AIIMS Rishikesh (MPH)
Public Health education for long has been expected to find solutions for multitude of Public Health
problems. However, the existing capacity and hence output in field of public health in India is highly
inadequate to meet these needs. To build and maintain a critical mass of Public Health experts, it is
essential to strengthen the training capacity of individuals working in healthcare.
The School of Public Health (SPH) at AIIMS Rishikesh is dedicated to provide excellence in public
health education, research, fellowship, training, and delivering the highest standards of care to the
community. The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at AIIMS Rishikesh is designed to provide
multidisciplinary training helping professionals tackle various public health issues and achieve
leadership positions.
The program aims to develop top-quality public health professionals capable of delivering
outstanding healthcare through evidence-based public health practices. At the School of Public
Health, AIIMS Rishikesh, students from diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds receive
training through various pedagogical methods, including problem-solving exercises, field-based
training such as observerships in public health organizations, case studies, and other interactive
approaches.

Note: Proficiency in Hindi up to the 10th standard is desirable, as the MPH
course at AIIMS Rishikesh involves extensive fieldwork and public
interaction.
*Note 1: All applicants are hereby instructed to read the terms & conditions in the
prospectus, including the eligibility criteria carefully before filling the form. All Candidates
shall be provisionally allowed to write the examination (Stage-I). However, any
discrepancy found later in the applications form shall debar you from appearing in the
Stage-II of exam (Departmental Assessment) or Admission to the course as the case may
be.

Results for the MPH entrance examination will only be available on the website at
www.aiimsrishikesh.edu.in.
The result of individual candidates will NOT be provided over the telephone, and candidates are
advised NOT to call the Examination Section for such information.

Objectives of MPH
On completion of MPH Course, a public health professional should be able to:
a. Identify and prioritize key public health issues.
b. Understand the principles involved in the management of health service organizations and in
planning the future development of health services.
c. Understand the principles involved in the economic assessment of health and
of services implemented/practiced for its protection and restoration.
d. Develop competency in research and understand the ethical principles relevant to public health
work.
e. Encourage community participation in health-related activities and programs.

At a Glance: Master of Public Health
Admission to Course
1. Admission to the ninth batch of Master of Public Health course will commence in January 2025.
2. Admission to the courses offered at the Institute is based on merit, determined through an entrance
examination conducted by the Institute, following the issuance of a nationwide admission notice. The
admission notice is published in leading national newspapers across India.
Duration of MPH course: Full time Two Years course.
Method of Selection
Admission is based on Entrance Examination & Departmental assessment only
Selections for t h e Master of Public Health course are made through written examination
and an interview.
Stage I: A written test carrying 200 marks, with a duration of 180 minutes, in t h e subject t h e
candidate has applied for. The question paper will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Candidates scoring more than 50% marks in Stage I will be considered for Stage II.
Stage II: Based on the merit list from Stage I, candidates, three times the number of seats
advertised, will be called for a departmental assessment (carrying 50 marks).
Final Selection: Candidates who secure 50% marks in Stage-I and II combined will be eligible for
admission and will be included in the final merit list.
Inter-Se Merit
In the event the two or more candidates obtained equal marks in t h e entrance examination,
inter-se- merit for selection to the course shall be determined as follows:

a. If marks obtained in the entrance examination are also the same, then the older (in
age) candidate shall rank higher than the younger one. The final decision rests with
the Director, AIIMS Rishikesh.
b. A candidate who has made more attempts in passing the qualifying examination
(MBBS, BDS etc.) will rank lower than a candidate who has made fewer attempts.
c. If the number of attempts made in passing the qualifying examination (MBBS, BDS
etc.) is also the same, the candidate with higher marks in the qualifying examination
will rank higher than the candidate who has obtained lower marks.
Course Fee
Indian Nationals: Rupees Five thousand four hundred forty (₹ 5,440/-) for the two-year
course. This is a one-time, non-refundable payment.
Examination (During Course)

At the end of each year, candidates will be examined both in theory and practical
examination. Internal assessment will be based on day-to-day assignments and their
evaluation. At the end of two years, successful candidates will be awarded Master of Public
Health Degree.
Joining time
Selected candidates must join on the prescribed date, as indicated in their admission letter.
The selection of candidates who fail to join by the specified date will be automatically
cancelled. Once the fee is deposited, it is non-refundable.
General Information
1) Candidates must fill out their online application form available on the AIIMS website i.e.
http://www.aiimsrishikesh.edu.in.
2) Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no correspondence will be
entertained in this matter. All particulars in the application form must be filled in carefully
and legibly. All claims made in the application must be supported with original
documents at the time of admission.
3) Candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from a Medical College not
recognized by the Medical Council of India are not eligible to apply.
4) Candidates currently employed must forward their application through proper channel.
Applications forwarded through the proper channel should be sent to the Dean
(Examination) of the Institute and must reach the office of the Dean (Examination)
before the closing date.
5) No request for a change of category applied for will be entertained after submission of
the application to the Institute.
6) The number of vacancies where indicated is provisional and may be reduced/ increased
without prior notice.
7) Roll Numbers/Admit Cards for appearing in the entrance examination will be available for
download to eligible candidates from the website. Candidates can log into their accounts

using their respective login ID and password. Roll numbers/admit cards will NOT be sent
by post.
8) Candidates are requested to cooperate with security personnel and other staff who are
instructed to carry out frisking at the entry of the examination hall/premises.
9) All candidates appearing for the entrance examination are instructed 'NOT TO BRING'
water bottles, car key (Remote), chains, any mobile phones/pager/pen/wrist
watch/ring/wallets/ladies’ purse/ornaments (Earrings, rings, etc.) or any other electronic
devices, even the envelope of admit card, to the examination hall. Candidates with these
articles will not be permitted to enter in the examination hall. Examination centers are not
responsible for the safe custody of candidates’ belongings, and candidates must make
their own arrangements for their safe keeping.
10) No TA/DA is admissible for the entrance examination/ interview/joining.
11) The decision of the Director of the Institute in the matter of selection of candidates in the

applied course shall be final.
12) Any attempt on part of a candidate to influence the selection process, directly or
indirectly, will result in disqualification.
13) Selected candidates must pay the fees, etc. on the same day; failure to do so will result
in cancellation of their selection, and the seat will be offered to candidates on the waiting
list in order of merit.
14) Candidates selected for the course must furnish a migration certificate from the
University/Institute from which they passed their last examination at the time of joining,
along with all other certificates in original in support of their qualification, experience, etc.
15) No individual intimation will be sent to unselected candidates, and no correspondence
on this subject will be entertained.
16) The period of training is strictly full time, and candidates will not be allowed to pursue
any other course or employment during this period.
17) Private practice in any form during the course is prohibited.
18) Ragging is a cognizable offence, and is banned at the Institute. Stern action shall be
taken against any offenders. Any one indulging in ragging shall be punished according to
institution rules and the law.
19) These rules are subject to change in accordance with decisions of Institute taken from time
to time.
20) In case of any dispute, it shall be settled within the jurisdiction of Uttarakhand High court.
