Tracy McCoy- Professional Biography
Tracy McCoy began her professional theatre career working with TAP productions in the greater Detroit

mysteries. While attending college, she also began her television/film career, and attaining her SAG (Screen

In order to “work” her way through college, that was primarily funded through scholarships
and her parents’ generosity; she began her teaching career with children, by teaching theatre
classes/workshops/and directing productions for many children’s programs throughout the Detroit area.
Tracy received her Associates in Arts Degree from Michigan Christian College (’86-88) while
simultaneously attending Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan to supplement theatre and dance
classes not offered (at that time) at MCC. She continued on to attain her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts Degree in
Theatre from Wayne State University (’88-90).
After graduation Tracy continued her professional theatre & television career filming
commercials/industrials/local television shows and performing as a company member of TAP productions, in
a variety of Broadway Musicals and reviews, children’s shows, and original plays including: Pump
Boys and Dinettes, Little Mary Sunshine, Bubbalonian Encounters, Detroit’s original Motown Show, and a
personal favorite the “Lucky Seven” to name a few.
While still living in the Detroit area, she also performed at the Marquis Theatre, Port Huron Little Theatre,
Greenfield Village and Richmond Theatre playing some of her favorite roles including: “Eliza” in My Fair
Lady, “Juliet” in Romeo and Juliet, “Ado Annie” in Oklahoma, “Charlotte” in Charlotte’s Web, and
“Adrianna” in Comedy of Errors to name a few. She also toured throughout the mid-west in several
Children’s shows with City Stage Productions, a national touring company out of Boston, MA.

Tracy along with her husband founded the Timestep Players Children’s Touring Theatre Company. For the
next eleven years they directed and produced over 500 shows per year, sending tours to over 25 states in
