CREAFORM VXinspect Tutorial 1 - Mesh-CAD Inspection Approximate time required to complete tutorial: 30 minutes Level of difficulty: Beginner VXelements 10.0.1 Navigate through the topics by using the blue arrows ( #/A*). To access the whole content or find specific information, click the menu S= (or the Contents tab in full screen mode) Introduction This tutorial is intended for users who need to become familiar with VXinspect. It will guide you through a simple mesh inspection workflow including the steps of creating an alignment and dimensions, and reporting the values. For the purpose of this tutorial, the session file was opened automatically with uploaded CAD model and mesh data already aligned together. Using a CAD model as a reference allows easily specifying the nominal measurements of different features that need to be inspected for every part. sample data or this tutorials provided by Caf t's the property of Cresform and is used for informations purposes oly recommended to use the 2D drawing as a reference throughout the tutorial. What will this tutorial cover? Step 1. Create entities to align the mesh with the CAD model, Step 2. Create entities and measurements. Step 3. Create snapshots and export inspection report. CREAFORM AMETEK’ Click A> to go to the next page. 1. Create entities to align the mesh with the CAD model Before extracting measurements from the mesh, the mesh needs to be aligned with the reference, in this case a CAD model, The type of alignment that will be used to align the mesh with the CAD model requires geometrical entities that will be created in this step. Visibility options Before starting the creation of entities, notice that the 3D viewer shows both the mesh and the CAD model. Multiple ‘options allow hiding or showing the mesh or the CAD model: + Holding the Ctrl key will hide the mesh if the CAD selection @ is enabled. + Conversely, i the Mesh selection Fis enabled, holding down the Cel key will hide the CAD. + Clearing the Show measured check box atter dlicking @i\ on the display toolbar in the 3D viewer will hide all measured components. Netra area ow annotations + Clicking @) will hide a specific entity, such as the mesh in this case. Click Plane 2, Select the 2 highlighted areas by clicking the surfaces of the CAD directly. This will create 1 continuous plane. 3, Click OK to accept. Plane 2 1. Click the highlighted surface on the CAD to create Plane 2. 2, Click OK to accept, Plane 3 1. Click the highlighted surface on the CAD to create Plane 3. 2. Click OK to accept. Click Cancel to exit the function. Create Circles 1, 2, and 3 The 3 circles will be created by picking surfaces directly on the CAD model and lying on Plane 1. 1. Click Add a circle. (-). All availabe circles on the CAD will appear outlined in blue. To make a selection, click directly on the CAD and choose 1 of the 2 half-circles. The program will automatically select the second half 2. For the Constraining plane, select Plane 1. 3, In the Dimensions pane, keep only the X and Y components selected. All components which are selected will appear in the final report. The order in which dimensions and snapshots appear in the final report is the same as in the Navigation tree. 4, Click the edge and click OK. 5, Repeat the last step for Circles 2 and 3. Create Circle 4 Circle 4 will be const Icted from existing Plane 2 and a cone, instead of picking them directly on the CAD, Click (GD next to Plane 1, 2 and 3 in the Navigation tree to hide the planes in the 3D viewer for better visibility Cone 1 1, Click Add @ cone 2, Clear all the check boxes in the Dimensions pane. 3, Click one half of the cone, the software will automatically select the other half. 4, Click OK to accept the selection and create the cone, 5. This type of alignment uses entity center points and specific constraints and weight to align the mesh. 1.cickAlignment J and chose RPS atgnment @y 2, Select the check boxes corresponding to the center points of the circles 1 to 4, They will be added consecutively to the table below. ee creaa IMO Circle 1 - Center Circle 2 - Center [ZO Circle 3 - Center Circle 4~ Center 3, Select the coordinates (X, Y, Z) to constrain each center point using the check boxes. In this tutorial, Circles 7 to 3 are constrained in ¥ and Z, and Circle 4 is constrained in X, ¥, and Z. 4, Double-click the weight of Circle 4 to set its weight to 5: This results in 1) Circle 4 having more importance than the others in the overall alignment calculation, and 2) Circles 7, 2 & 3 to influence only the ¥ & Z components of the calculation, leaving the X component to be entirely calculated by Circle 4 Pred Increasing the value of the Weight gives more importance to the entity in the final calculation, In addition, the software will only take into consideration the X, Y, Z components that were selected for each entity, ignoring those with cleared boxes. 5. In the Point errors pane, select the Show in report check box to include the deviation values in the final report. As expected, the deviation in X for Circle 4 is 0, 6, Click OK to create the alignment. In VXinspect, only 1 alignment can be active at any given time. Click A to go to the next page. 2. Create entities and measurements In this step, entities and measurements (color map, angles, and distances) will be created to be included in the inspection report Create a color map sce coor map @ 2. In the Error distribution pane, click Edit color mop. 3, Select Continuous as the Color scale type, and click OK. 4, Below the Error distribution graph, set the Min/Max. values to +/- 2.000 mm, and the tolerance zone values to +/- 0.200 mm, 5, Click OK to create the color map.
