Text emphasis 1
Emphasized texts in technical documentation have the following meaning:
DANGER DANGER indicates when there is an immediate danger that leads
to death or serious physical injury.
WARNING WARNING indicates a risk of danger that may lead to death or
serious physical injury.
CAUTION CAUTION used with the safety alert symbol indicates a risk of
danger that leads to slight or moderate physical injury and/ or
damage to property.
NOTICE NOTICE used without the safety alert symbol indicates a risk of
danger that if disregarded leads or may lead to a potential situa-
tion which may result in an undesirable result or state other than
death, physical injury or property damage.
All texts labeled with the ” p ” symbol must be transcribed into the Test Certificate
included in the shipment.
These measurement values can then be used for the Acceptance Test required in Ger-

Definitions 1
AE Title (AET) DICOM Application Entity Title. Must be unique in a DICOM network.
Conformance Each manufacturer of a DICOM device has to provide this type of state-
Statement ment, since it provides an overview of the product’s DICOM capability.
DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Reduces the complexity of con-
figuring computers for TCP/IP networks. The following TCP/IP configu-
ration can be dynamically assigned by a DHCP server: IP Address,
Subnet masks, gateway and additional parameters, such as domain
name.
DNS The Domain Name Service is used to resolve the TCP/IP address from
a user-friendly host name.
Dongle Device plugged into the parallel port of the computer that provides a
unique ID for license handling.
A security or copy protection device for commercial microcomputer pro-
grams consisting of a serialized EPROM and several drivers in a D-25
connector shell, which must be connected to an I/O port of the com-
puter while the program is running. Programs that use a dongle query
the port at start-up and at subsequent programmed intervals. The pro-
grams terminate if the port (dongle)does not respond with the dongle's
programmed validation code.
Hub Distributor in a network using the star topology. A hub allows data
transfer between computers.
IP Address 32-bit address assigned to hosts using TCP/IP. An IP address belongs
to one of four classes (A, B, C, D) and is written as 4 octets separated
by periods (dotted decimal format). Each address consists of a network
number, an optional sub-network number and a host number. The net-
work and the subnet numbers are used for routing, while the host num-
ber is used to address an individual host within the network or the sub-
network. A subnet mask is used to extract network and sub-network
information from the IP address.
The IP is part of the socket address.
Port Part of the socket address. Different DICOM services on the same host
PC may use different port numbers.
Subnet mask The subnet mask is used to extract network and sub network informa-
tion from the IP address.

Requirements / Remarks / Introduction 1-5
Router A device that connects different networks. Different means either a dif-
ferent architecture or a different type of protocol. In a TCP/IP environ-
ment, a router is used to connect computers that are located in different
IP address ranges.
Service Key Required to enter the service UI. The key has to be generated prior to
the first software installation.
Socket The socket address consists of the IP and the port number.
Address
WINS provides a distributed database for registration and querying
WINS dynamic Net-BIOS names to IP addresses.
Vendor ID Unique identification number provided by a dongle.
Compression Running a data set through an alogrithm which reduces the space
required
Remote A service that allows remote clients running Microsoft Windows or Win-
Access dows NT to dial into a network.

NOTICE A service key is required to configure the station. If the 3D option
was installed in the factory, the service key can be found in the
system logbook. Otherwise it must be created in the intranet
before starting work. URL: http://www-td.med.siemens.de
A key for Service Level 7 is required.
Please have the Dongle ID ready, which is needed to create a ser-
vice key. Please contact the appropriate personnel in the
Regional Unit.
The generation process is described in ARTD-001.719.12.01.
“Service/ Application Licensing Process”.

Prerequisites for Host and Memoskop SW Update 3
NOTICE Please note the service PC settings.
Prior to starting the software updates, please observe the following:
- The serial interface cable used has to be fully wired and be OK.
- Switch off the screen saver and end the programs running in background.
- Check the jumpers D1.X95 / D1.D96 / D1.X 99. They should be set to position 2-3.
- Check the serial port FIFO settings of your service PC. The FIFO of the serial port must
be enabled (default settings).
- In case of correct host but incorrect MEMOSKOP communication, temporarily switch
D1.S3.2 to position ON. Ignore the error messages displayed at the SIREMOBIL user
console. Ignore the MEMOSKOP service software error message "No communication
with the X-ray system" and close it by clicking the "Ignore" button. Select the correct
type of MEMOSKOP and begin the necessary service work. After completion of the
MEMOSKOP service steps, switch D1.S3.2 back to the OFF position.
- Do not use the "SCENIC MOBILE 350" service PC. It is not compatible.

Note on the checks of the automatic videotiming recognition 7
NOTE Two different videotimings are present on the left TFT display
(live image).
Three different videotimings are present on the right TFT display:
1. Standard Timing (left and right display):
Monitor cart and basic unit are connected to each other;
the synchronization is realized by the video camera.
2. Timing stand-alone operation, monitor cart
(left and right display):
Monitor cart and basic unit are not connected to each other;
the Memoscope is synchronized internally.
3. Timing 3D reconstruction (only right display):
3D reconstruction PC supplies the video signal.
The automatic videotiming recognition of the TFT display needs
to be checked with all present videotimings.
The videotiming is automatically recognized by the TFT display. The following checks
need to be performed with different videotimings.
NOTE If the automatic recognition of one or several videotimings does
not lead to the expected results, you need to adjust the TFT
display manually. Use the replacement instructions of the TFT
display TD00-000.841.17... for this.

Notes on Backup and Restore 13 13 - 1
System-specific tables, such as tuneup tables and customer-specific configuration
entries, have to be backed up (and restored) when updating the software or when modify-
ing system parameter.
1. The regional settings, date & time, keyboard and language are not contained in
the backup set. Consequently, the configuration of regional settings has to be
executed after each software installation.
2. When using a MOD for backup, note that in the application the MOD media can
only be ejected within the ArchNet functionality or the patient browser.
