Ideation Management
• Posting Ideas is a social activity where users can collaborate in the ideation process by
adding comments and “liking” Ideas.
• While the majority of ideas will only amount to a posted
entry in the system, some will gather the interest of
other users and prove to be valuable contributions to
your business.
• These popular ideas may be the basis for creating
Proposals, Concepts, and Requirements.

Filter and Updates
• Use Filter By to focus all chart results on specific Idea types and narrow by date range.
• Latest Updates provides click-able numbers for:
– Ideas Created
– Ideas Updated
– Ideas Voted
– Ideas Commented
• Click one of the Latest Updates numbers to invoke a search for Ideas that fit that
category.

Status and Customers
• The Customer Idea Status chart presents the number of Ideas in a particular status.
• The Top Customer Contributors chart presents the number of Ideas aligned with a
particular customer.
• Click on a chart bar or piece to invoke a search for Ideas that fit that category.

Contributors and Tags
• The Top Contributors chart presents the users who have posted the most Ideas.
• The Tags section lists tags assigned to Ideas. The larger the tag size, the more Ideas
there are with that tag assigned.
• Click on the bar or tag to invoke a search for Ideas of that category.

Search for Idea Objects
Use the search features found on the Manage Ideas tab to find Idea objects.
• Basic search – name and description
• Advanced search – add fields and use operators
• Saved Search – use predefined searches

Basic Search
• Default search interface
• Expand the search section to use it
• Only Idea (Name) and Description fields available
• Uses parts of words without wildcard characters, for example:
– "tch" returns watch
– "hon" returns phone

Advanced Search
• Click the Advanced button while in
Basic search
• Use additional fields
• Custom fields are listed if the admin
designates them as searchable.
• Use operators such as Starts with,
Contains, and so forth.

Saved Search
• Save a defined search for easy reuse.
• Stores additional fields used and values added.
• Name the search and can set it as the default to run automatically when you access the
Manage Ideas tab.

Post Ideas
• To post a new Idea, click the Post Idea button in the upper right corner.
• Enter the following information: Idea (name), Description, Type

Idea Types/Classes
• Administrators can create Idea classes.
• Idea classes display to the user as Idea Types.
• Users can search by Idea Type.

Edit Ideas
• You can edit an Idea immediately after you create it or you can search for and edit it
later.
• Click the Edit button and modify
the following:
– Name
– Description
– Status
– Customers
– Relationships
– Attachments

Associate Customers
• You can associate an Idea with one or more customers by clicking the Associate
Customers button on the Idea.
• Move customer names to the Selected Customers field.
• The customer field applies only to Ideas and
involves no business logic.

Social
• Use the Social link to open the Oracle Social Network (OSN) panel.
• The action also creates a conversation for the object if one does not already exist.
• Use the conversation to exchange
thoughts and opinions, and to
collaborate about decisions.

Tags
• Add tags to categorize similar ideas.
• Add words without commas into the Tags field.
• Click a tag on the Tags panel of the Overview tab to invoke a search for ideas with that
tag assigned.

Actions
• Create Proposal: allows you to create a proposal based on the idea. (Covered later in
this lesson.)
• Manage Team: allows you to add or remove team members. (Covered next)
• Delete: allows you to delete the idea.

Idea Teams
• Teams define a group of users who can access and manage a specific Idea.
• You can add and remove users from your Idea's team.
• You can select whether only team members can access your Idea or everyone.
• Primary form of security.

Evaluate Ideas
Users can evaluate Ideas by:
• Clicking the Like or Dislike buttons.
• Adding Comments.

Idea Status
• Newly posted Ideas are typically assigned a Draft status.
• After adding further details to the Idea and receiving feedback from comments and
Likes/Dislikes, you may change its status to Accepted or Rejected.
• This status change will display to other users the acceptance (or rejection) of the Idea
and could also be used to find this Idea when searching Ideas based on their status.
• There is no workflow involved.

Create a Proposal
• Use the Create Proposal action to create a new proposal about the Idea you are
currently viewing.
• As the Proposal is created, a relationship between the Idea and the new Proposal is
created.
