KLAY Curriculum Preview

October’24/Edition-7

Pre-K

Quote of the Month

‘ Play gives children a chance to practice

what they are learning.

- Fred Rogers

From the Facilitator’s Desk

Dear Parent,

Time truly does fly when we’re having fun, and that’s the magic we experience every day at
our KLAY centres. Can you believe we’re already into the second month of Term 2? There’s
so much excitement ahead, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

As the festive season unfolds, our little ones will dive into the joy of celebrating Dussehra,
Diwali, and Gandhi Jayanti. These celebrations aren’t just about fun; they help foster a deep
sense of unity, cultural pride, and understanding. Our classrooms are buzzing with curiosity
and enthusiasm, as we craft a rich array of activities that spark wonder and nurture a love
for learning in every child.

You may remember from our September Curriculum Preview, we hosted our 6th
International Summit on Early Years, themed "Children of the Future: Nurturing Skills,
Embedding Technology, Empowering Parents" — and what an incredible success it was!
With thought-provoking insights from keynote speakers like Dr.Maureen Healy, Ms. Rashmi
Bansal, and Ms. Neelam Kothari Soni, it was a truly enriching experience. From engaging
morning workshops to a dynamic evening summit, the event left us all inspired.

We’re also grateful for the success of our first-term Parent Conference. Thank you for your
active participation — your involvement is what makes these moments so meaningful.

There’s plenty to look forward to this month, and we can’t wait to continue this joyful
journey with you and your little ones!

Warmest Regards,

KLAY Preschools and Daycare

Values of the Month

Being a team player, tolerant, and cooperative

Giving and Sharing

Values are good for us and happiness they bring

If we are focused to do the right things

These will be taught and practiced in our centres

Mom and Dad, help us at home with them too.

Values like being a team player, tolerant, and cooperative

We may be really young but yes! This is possible!

Theme of the Month

October has arrived, and our young learners are excited to explore the fascinating world of
animals! This month, they’ll delve into the products we get from farm animals and how these
products fit into our daily lives. They’ll also have the chance to learn about various wild
animals and share their findings.

They will be introduced to letter sounds d/, /g/, /o/ and will learn how to identify these
sounds in words. Imagine how grown up they are going to feel when they trace different
patterns on paper or slates using crayons or chalk!
Blending and verbally saying learnt sounds /at/ and /it/ and introduction of sight words-
“my, she, he" is also a part of the language plan!

Our young friends will be saying hello to one more number friend- 5 this month. This
journey is going to be a lot of fun as they listen to stories, sing rhymes, learn to recognise
them and even trace these numbers. There is also going to be a lot of action as they learn
the positional words of left and right. In addition to this, they will be learning about creating
the neutral colour grey by mixing black and white colour.
Everyone loves to move to music and rhythm! This month children will be learning to not
only move rhythmically to music but also associate actions with words and try to match the
tone while participating in action songs and singing.

Our little M.F Hussains will be exploring different art techniques like bead printing, glue art,
thread painting.

As our young learners dive into these activities, we’re focusing on nurturing their physical
development. We’ll emphasize both fine and gross motor skills. Children will strengthen
their finger muscles through activities like manipulating play dough, solving peg puzzles,
and using large tongs. They’ll also enhance their skills with writing and drawing tools.

Larger muscles will be kept in motion by exhibiting balance while using equipment (jumping
on a trampoline, climbing on a ladder, using a hula hoop etc.)

We’ve planned activities to nurture children’s social and emotional development. These
include fostering empathy and care for others, respecting classroom materials, and
encouraging them to seek help from adults when needed.

Wow Activities of the Month

Here are some interesting activities children

can look forward to in October.

• Get ready for a vibrant STEAM adventure!

Children will dive into the art of block printing,
blending creativity with science.They’ll experiment
with patterns, textures, and colours to create
beautiful prints while exploring concepts like
symmetry, repetition, and ink absorption. It’s a
chance to see how art and engineering come
together in this timeless technique!
• In another exciting activity, children will embark
on a treasure hunt, using directional arrows and
positional clues to uncover a hidden toy treasure.
• Roleplay continues to captivate, and this month,
children will step into the shoes of forest rangers,
immersing themselves in the wonders of nature
and conservation.
