NGO Profile Belary Hope Givers Initiative
17 History Incorporated on May 24, 2021, the Belary Hope Givers Initiative
was founded by Ambassador Friday Ebi Abari, a visionary educator and
community leader. This initiative aimed to address critical educational and
societal challenges prevalent in Nigeria's Niger Delta region. The key issues
were financial constraints impeding access to a quality education and
recurring floods exacerbating the struggle. Ambassador Abari, also the
founder of Belary Montessori International School, witnessed firsthand the
distressing situation, fueling the inception of this transformative initiative.
At its core, the initiative focused on empowering youth through education by
providing scholarships and essential educational support to disadvantaged
students. Early efforts were centered on establishing a robust community
presence, collaborating with local schools, and forming vital partnerships with
governmental bodies and philanthropic foundations, all with a strong emphasis
on enhancing the quality of education accessible to the community.
THE VISIONARY BELARY HOPE GIVERS INITIATIVE
AMB. ABARI FRIDAY EBIPUAKEBINA KOFI JP
ENTREPRENEUR, EDUCATIONIST AND
PHILANTHROPIST.
EARLY LIFE
Born on the 7th of February, 1958, Ambassador Friday Ebi Abari has
experienced the good, the bad and the ugly which has informed the initiation
of Belary Hope Givers Initiative. As an only son of a Ghanian mother and a
Nigerian father who ended up separated, young AMB. Abari Friday
Ebipuakebina Kofi JP was caught in the web of a complicated parenting which
greatly affected his growing up. He was also a victim of cultural clash as the
Fante tribe of Ghana are matrilineal in their belief on the ownership of children
while the Izon tribe of Nigeria ascribe the ownership of a child to the father;
i.e., patrilineal. The names Friday and kofi are both symbolic as he was birthed
on a Friday.
Unlike other children, AMB. Abari Friday Ebipuakebina Kofi JP never had a fun
filled life while growing up but his life was however quite eventful; his ordeal
NGO Profile Belary Hope Givers Initiative
began as an infant when he was whisked away from his maternal grandmother
at the age of one year and four months and was sent down to Asamabiri in the
present day Bayelsa state, Nigeria, to his paternal grandmother and an aunt. It
was a traumatic experience due to the nonchalance and low sense of good
parenting that was meted on him by the duo (Grandmother and Aunt) at such
infancy stage of his life. At age nine, Friday also experienced the Nigerian civil
war and all the woes that came with it; Living in forests, sand banks, fishing
camps by the riverside, refugee camps, IDP in- mate and even as it were, taking
part in the civil war.
After the civil war, Friday saw himself stronger than before, he armed himself
with certain survival skills; he made lemonades out of the lemon life threw at
him. He had adapted to the almost orphanage life he was born into; he
struggled to fend for himself through hard jobs and even lent a hand to his aged
grandmother and her other grandchildren children.
A very significant event in Friday's life is the help he got from one Mr David,
Obuada Seitimibowei. Mr David paid young Friday's tuition at Standard 3. And
as his manner is, AMB. Abari Friday Ebipuakebina Kofi JP cheriches such
benevolent gestures hence has in his little way reciprocated it. This event is very
significant as it has open the mind of Friday to always look out for the poor and
vulnerable in the society.
EDUCATION
AMB. Abari Friday Ebipuakebina Kofi JP had long had a penchant for academics,
little wonder, he established a 21st century academic institution; Belary schools
which arguably is the best school in Bayelsa state. His love for academics could
be further seen in the number of institutions he attended and the number of
degrees he was awarded. He first bagged his first school living certificate at
Roman Catholic Mission School, Asamabiri in the year 1974. He went further to
complete his secondary schooling and bagged his secondary School Certificate
at Government Secondary school, Kaiama, in the year 1979. Notwithstanding
the value that was attached to such level of education then which allowed for
most people to settle at such level alone as they could survive on that, Young
Friday was foresighted and also hated mediocrity hence he went further to bag

a Certificate in accounting at the prestigious University of Science and
Technology Nkpolu, Harcourt in the year 1983.
Not resting on his oars, he consolidated on his gains by bagging a university
Diploma from the same university (UNITECH) in the year 1988.
He holds post graduate diploma in accounting from the Nigeria college of
accountancy Jos, in the year 2010, and also became chartered in the same year
2010 at the Nigerian college of accountancy. Elder Abari attended University
of Lagos, University of Lagos consult Akoka Lagos on in- service training in the
year 1993, and qualified as an executive management Accountant, an
HND equivalent. Abari also attended and had his master’s degree in
accountancy from Emmanuel University, USA, through the Raleigh seminary
at Aba, Nigeria.
SOCIAL LIFE
AMB. Abari Friday Ebipuakebina Kofi JP is a simple and a friendly man. He is
down to earth and
could relate to harshness of life owing to his journey in life. He is easily
accessible by his friends, associates, employees and family members. However,
he is a principled person; he never mixes business and pleasure. He also places
value on trust and commitment. His ethos in life is never to allow the voices of
fear to be louder than the other voices in the head; Voice of reason, Voice of
belief, and, the Voice of confidence.
