Restrictions on the installation environment

No. Item Description 1. The RTN 380AN cannot be installed on a light pole or utility pole.
2. The RTN 380AN with only a 0.3 m antenna can be installed on a guyed tower, and the antenna must be
installed no higher than 1/2 of the tower height.
3. Even if the requirements for link reliability can be met and the equipment installation environment
allows equipment to run properly in any weather conditions (the sway angle and twist angle of towers
1 RTN 380AN module
and poles meet requirements), use rooftop towers, thin mast towers, and common self-supporting
towers (non-high towers) with caution based on the local actual situations.

Restrictions on the installation on a rooftop upright pole

When installing the RTN 380AN on a rooftop upright pole, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2 Auxiliary material package 2. A mono-rooftop mast is supported by three stress support bars. The angle between the stress support
bars is 90º or 120º. This ensures that the mast can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or
twist in the wind.
3. Only one microwave antenna is installed on one pole.
4. A pole is supported by two side support bars to ensure that the pole does not sway or twist in the wind.
5. A pole is not higher than 6 m.
6. An antenna should be installed as low as possible and close to the support point and far away from the
3 7.6 mm-wide outdoor cable tie top of the pole. The antenna mounting brackets must be secured.
7. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.3 m, the antenna is used only at the last hop.
8. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.6 m, stress support bars are required to secure the pole for installing
the antenna and the antenna must be installed close to the point of strength of the stress support bars
on the pole.
9. Installation height: A 0.6 m antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the pole height, and a 0.3 m
antenna is installed no higher than 2/3 of the pole height.
4 3.6 mm-wide outdoor cable tie
Restrictions on the installation on a thick mast tower
When installing the RTN 380AN on a thick mast tower, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2. The antenna pole is installed securely. It can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist
in the wind.
3. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
5 Waterproof labels for outdoor use 4. Installation height: A 0.6 m antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the tower height, and a 0.3 m
antenna is installed no higher than 2/3 of the tower height.

Restrictions on the installation on a self-supporting tower (heavy tower in the

central equipment room)

Aligning Antennas
Aligning Single-Polarized Antennas

Determine the azimuth of the antennas according to the installation position and height of the
antennas. Then adjust the elevation of the antennas to the horizontal position. Adjust the elevation adjustment bolt. At the local end, rotate the antenna vertically and gently adjust
the elevation until the RSL reaches the maximum peak.
Repeat steps 3 to 4 to ensure that three signal peaks are tracked in both horizontal and vertical
directions. When the RSL reaches the maximum peak value in both horizontal and vertical directions,
You can use an alignment scope to align antennas. For details about how to install an alignment tighten the local antenna.
scope, see Appendixes.
Adjust the remote antenna. Ensure that the RSL of both the local and remote antennas reaches the
peak value.
Connect a multimeter to the RSSI port on the RTN 380AN at the local end and measure the voltage value V BNC.
Tighten all the screws of the antennas after the alignment is completed.

Keep the remote antenna fixed. Adjust the azimuth adjustment bolt and widely rotate the antenna at the
local end in the horizontal direction.
a. If three signal peaks are tracked, adjust the azimuth of the antenna until the received signal level (RSL)
reaches the peak at position 2.
b. If two signal peaks are scanned, adjust the azimuth of the antenna to the middle of positions 4 and 5.
Then, adjust the elevation of the antenna so that the three signal peaks (like the signal peaks on the line
