Wedding Ceremony Program

*After the Processional March*

Ceremony

Officiating Minister:

We have come together in the presence of God this morning to

witness the joining of ____________________________and
_____________________________ in the bond of marriage. The sacred
relationship of marriage was established by GOD as an example to
be followed and is meant to show true love for one another. It is at
once one of man’s greatest blessing and also one of his most
awesome responsibilities. Marriage is not to be taken or entered into
lightly but intentionally as a way to honor God and one another.

_________ and _________ would like to thank you all for joining them in
this very important day of their lives.

Let’s join together in prayer, let’s bow our heads down before the
Lord.

Prayer:

We thank you Lord God for this beautiful day that you have given to
us and not just to us but more and most importantly for _________
and _________ as they express their love for each other in the
matrimony of marriage. We thank You for the love and the goodness
you have given them. I pray that you would guard their hearts
starting today in their marriage and to teach them to love each
other and to love you with all their hearts. I also ask that everyone
here would feel the desire to encourage them in their marriage and
that you would lay Your precious hands on _________ and _________ .
That as they declare their vows for each other, they would keep
them by Your grace. They will not be broken, be it in sickness or in
health, in better times or worse, in plenty or in want and finally that
you would be here with us in this ceremony for without You, this
whole enterprise would be in vain. This is our prayer with
thanksgiving in Jesus’ name, Amen.

**Please be seated. **

WORD OF GOD
-Before we proceed to the wedding symbols,

I ask you _________ and _________ to take into consideration the

acceptance, forgiveness, respect, loyalty, and love that builds the
foundation for the strong and enduring marriage.

VOWS TO EACH OTHER

And now_______________ and _______________ it’s your time to say your
vows to each other and let’s start with Mr. _______________.

And now it’s your turn Ms. _______________ to say your vows.

RING CEREMONY
Now let’s have the Ring Ceremony. I would like to ask the ring
sponsor to please get the ring please.

3|Page
The Rings are the symbols of the covenant that _________ and
_________ are entering into and establishing this day.

These rings are never ending circles, indicating the continuing and
eternal love of God with which you are to love one another. These
rings are made of precious metal, one that is not easily tarnished.
This represents how valuable and precious your marriage covenant.

*Prayer to the rings*

I pray that you’ll bless these rings O’ Lord that the one who gives it
and the one who wears it, may live in your peace and continue in
your favor all the days of their lives. I pray that ___________ and
_____________, Lord, as they would wear this and see this as a symbol
of their commitment to one another, they would all the more grow in
love and be passionate for each other. This is my prayer in the name
of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

*We will start with you Sir. ___________, this is the moment that you
will give the ring to Ms. ___________, but before that please follow
after me.

___________ (Name of bride), I give this ring to you, as a symbol of my

love ,as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and with all that
I have, I will honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit.

Response of the Bride: I accept this ring with love and appreciation.

**********

___________ (Name of Groom), I give this ring to you, as a symbol of

my love ,as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and with all
that I have, I will honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

Response of the Groom: I accept this ring with love and

appreciation.

COIN CEREMONY
Let’s have the coin sponsor please…

Originally, there was an understanding of husband as bread winner

and wife as homemaker, so the coins will be given and received not
4|Page
in a spirit of reciprocity but in a give and take relationship.
Nowadays, the coins are a reminder of good stewardship for all
couples, that they will mutually support each other, their children
and the world around them.

_______________ and _______________, accept these coins and that it

represents of your love and dedication to each other and the true
prosperity of your marriage. Promise that you would love and
support each other in everything until death part you. May GOD
bless you in all of your enterprise.

Originally, what we do, usually when we do weddings like this. The

money is given to the bride. But this time, it should be different
because your relationship will not be a give and take relationship but
it’s a stewardship. Every blessing that God will give you, the two of
you will manage the money that God will give you. It will not be a
one way affair, it will not just be the husband or the wife’s decisions
but the two of you will manage whatever God gives you. Two minds
are always better one.

So I want you to clasp your hands together and Mr. _________, please
repeat after me.

I ___________ (name of husband) commit to your welfare _________,

(name of wife) and I promise you that I will love you and support you
forever.

I ___________ (name of wife) commit to your welfare _________, (name

of husband) and I promise you that I will love you and support you
forever.

BIBLE CEREMONY
Let’s have the Bible sponsor please…

_______________ and _______________, (For me this is the most

important part of the wedding, not so many couples really commit to
the word of God to the demise of their marriage.

In Psalms 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders
build in vain…” I would like to remind you that the Lord is in His

5|Page
words, so if you establish your marriage in the platform of Word of
God the Bible says you will succeed in everything. )

I present the written Word of God; it is spirit, it is life, it is light to

your path and let this be your guide in life and surely you will be
blessed will be a blessing to others. Jesus said: “Man will not live by
bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
God.”

Your marriage will thrive if you make the Word of GOD your manual
for life. Before this congregation, in witnesses affirm your
faith in GOD’s Word by putting your hands together on top of this
Word of GOD.

**Let us pray.

Father in heaven, you graciously granted us the secret of a strong

and thriving life, and in the case of _____________ and ______________
marriage and it is the commitment to obey your WORD. I pray that
_____________ and ______________ will wisely adhere to your will for
their lives and your will is found in your Words. No matter what
happens, let them commit to your Word O’ Lord in sickness or in
health, in time of blessings or in time of need. I pray that their home
will be founded not in the changing principles of men but on the
eternal power of your Word. Guide them now Lord, in Jesus’ name,
Amen.

CORD AND VEIL CEREMONY

Let’s proceed to the cord and veil ceremony,

As these will be put on, please kneel _____________ and

______________.

*After putting the Cord and Veil,

_____________ and ______________, the donning of the veil on your

shoulders symbolizes that just as Christ is the head of the Church,
you Mr. ___________ is the head and protector of your home and you
must do everything in your power to protect your loved ones and to
you Ms. ___________ , the veil is in your head and it is saying that in
mutual esteem and love. You honor your husband all the days of his
6|Page
life. The veil signifies God’s covering on your union with His love and
grace. Let it be that under mantle of His love, there is devotion r
worship in your home.

The chord symbolizes that marriage is a lifelong and unbreakable

bond. By tying the two of you together, you are affirming, we are
affirming the Biblical teaching that God intended marriage to last a
lifetime.

Let’s pray one more time for ___________ and ___________.

*Thank You Lord Jesus for this appointed day for ___________ and
___________ fulfilling their desire of joining their hearts before you
today. We ask that you hold their home, filling it with pure joy, peace
and confidence in your government. Let their guests and
acquaintances see and experience your presence as they enter their
home. Father help ___________ and ___________ to love each other
deeply and be willing to go out their way to support each other. May
they be sensitive of your presence each day be it in times of joy or in
sorrow and make you be the unshakable anchor in the sea of
uncertainties of life. Enable them Lord to be drawn to you Lord and
each other whether in health and in sickness, in need or in
abundance. We dedicate them to you. Embrace them Lord in your
loving arms. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit. Amen.

CORD AND VEIL CEREMONY

7|Page
Once again we ask the cord and veil sponsor to remove the cord
followed by the veil.

Thank you so much sponsors.

PRINCIPAL SPONSORS CEREMONY

I’m asking the principal sponsors to please stand.

When you consented and acted as the principal sponsors of this

wedding ___________ and ___________’ wedding, you become 2nd
parents to them. Therefore you have now an important responsibility
to them.

I now charge you to act as caring and loving 2 nd parents to

___________ and ___________. To assist them in their needs both
material and spiritual and do all you can to provide them with the
example and counsel they may need in their life together. Do you
promise to act this ministry to the best of your abilities? If so, please
say, YES WE WILL.

Thank you so much sponsors.

SIGNING OF CONTRACT CEREMONY

Now, ___________ and __________ , you’ll gonna be signing the
marriage certificate.

I am asking the Sponsors to come over to sign the contract in

witness with them.

* After signing, please encircle them and let’s pray for them with
you.

-Declaration of blessing in their new journey as a couple.

UNITY CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY

The two individual candles represent your two different lives as of
the moment. As you can see there are two distinct lights, each is
capable of going in different and separate ways as you now join in
marriage there should be a joining of two lights in to one. This is
8|Page
what the Lord meant when He said, “On this account a man shall
leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two
shall be one flesh. From now on, ___________ and __________, your
thoughts shall be for each other rather than for your own individual
selves, plans should be mutual, joy and sorrows shall be shared alike
as you each take a candle, and together light the center one and
you will extinguish your own candles thus letting the center candle
represent the union of your lives into one flesh.

As this one light cannot be divided, neither shall your lives be

divided but rather become a united testimony in a Christian home
and may the radiance of this one light be a testimony of your unity
in the Lord Jesus Christ.

*Please take one candle each of you. Light the big one and put off
your each light.
