Pre Field Calibration

Note: NADA certified calibration requires 2 point calibration on each sensor prior to each use, this
procedure does not meet those requirements. For practical purposes the following guide should be
sufficient.

Check temperature (occasionally) against certified thermometer in a stirred bath – temperature rarely
needs adjusting.

Calibrate:

 Conductivity 1413uS (fresh standard do not recycle)

 Salinity 35ppt (from buffer)
 DO 100% (prepared using fish tank aerator pump in bucket of tap water for 2 hours)
 pH4 and 10 (from buffer)
 Turbidity 0NTU (distilled water)

When calibrating, ensure raw (d) number is stable before continuing.

For highest accuracy the calibration should be done before each use however less calibrations maybe
adequate for different applications. Regular calibration will provide data as to each sensors stability and
help identify if any issues exist.
