who is advanced in undeviated devotional service and whose heart is
completely devoid of the propensity to criticize others.

transcendental nature; apagacchati — is spoiled; nīra-dharmaiḥ — the
characteristics of water.

Translation

Being situated in his original Kṛṣṇa conscious position, a pure devotee

does not identify with the body. Such a devotee should not be seen from a
materialistic point of view. Indeed, one should overlook a devotee’s having
a body born in a low family, a body with a bad complexion, a deformed
body, or a diseased or infirm body. According to ordinary vision, such
imperfections may seem prominent in the body of a pure devotee, but
despite such seeming defects, the body of a pure devotee cannot be
polluted. It is exactly like the waters of the Ganges, which sometimes
during the rainy season are full of bubbles, foam and mud. The Ganges
waters do not become polluted. Those who are advanced in spiritual
understanding will bathe in the Ganges without considering the condition
of the water.

Synonyms

syāt — is; kṛṣṇa — of Lord Kṛṣṇa; nāma — the holy name; carita-ādi —

Translation

The holy name, character, pastimes and activities of Kṛṣṇa are all
transcendentally sweet like sugar candy. Although the tongue of one
afflicted by the jaundice of avidyā [ignorance] cannot taste anything
sweet, it is wonderful that simply by carefully chanting these sweet names
every day, a natural relish awakens within his tongue, and his disease is
gradually destroyed at the root.
NOI verse Part 3
This is not called Nectar of suggestion, we need to understand this. This is
rather Nectar of Instruction, something we are bound to follow, if at all we want
to advance in spiritual life.
2
Atyahara also means ati-āhāraḥ which refers to overeating or too much
collecting, in short it means accumulating or eating more than needed.
1
prayāsaḥ means over-endeavoring for mundane things, this over-endevouring
or extra efforts which we put to achieve mundane things, we need to avoid to
be safe in our devotional service.

Antaranga Shakti is the internal potency of the Lord that keeps us in the service
of the divine couple, Sri Sri Radha Madhava.
Tatastha shakti is the marginal potency of the Lord, it is living entities who are
2
infinite in number.
Bahiranga Shakti is the external potency of the Lord, which we call as Maha-
1
Maya, which binds the conditioned souls in this material world life after life.

prajalpa refers to idle talking or wasting the time in idle talks which are useless.

The three ways of speaking are:

1. Satyam (must be truthful )
2. Priyam (should be sweet)
3. Hitam (must be helpful)

Q.How to know if you are doing prajalpa?

Ans: The taste for chanting, hearing and reading decreases.

‘niyamāgrahaḥ’ has two meanings, they are:

. practicing the scriptural rules and regulations only for the sake of
following them and not for the sake of spiritual advancement
. rejecting the rules and regulations of the scriptures and working
independently or whimsically.

It is important to understand that rules and regulations change as per the time,
place and circumstances.

Note:
. Who becomes ritualistic: The one who is attached to rules just for
the sake of following it and not understanding the goal of the
scriptures which is Krsna, becomes ritualistic.
. Who becomes a sahajiya: Those who reject the rules and act
according to their own whims become sahajiyas.

[We need to understand what Sahajiya means, Sahajiyas are they who act
according to their own whims, and take devotional service to the Lord which is
so exalted as very cheaply.

– When one faces false pride, he needs to remember the six Goswamis
of Vrindavana and how they lived their life.

– We should understand where we need to draw a line, it is when our

hearing reading and chanting are being Compromised, it is a high time
that we take a U-turn.

jana-saṅga means associating with worldly-minded persons who are not

interested in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Visha-Vishaya Analogy:

To understand this, we need to understand the Visha and Vishaya analogy.

Visha is poison and Vishaya means the materialistic association. It is
reccomended that this Vishaya is so dangerous that it is more harmful than
Visha. The reason is because this VIshaya, which is the materialistic association
can take away the spirit soul away from Krishna for lifetimes and while Visha
can only kill this one present body which the soul has, therefore it is advised to
strictly avoid jana-saṅga, association with materialistic worldly minded
persons who are not interested in Krishna consciousness.

laulyaṁ means being greedy for mundane achievements. This material greed is
very dangerous because it is very subtle in nature and can have a deep impact
on our bhakti.

– In the material world, everyone is in competition with one another but

in devotional service or bhakti, it works only on co-operation.

– Our goal is not liberation, our goal is to pass all the seventeen
planetary systems, all Vaikuntha planets, etc and reach gokoka
vrindavan.

Unless we avoid all these six instructions given in this verse, we cannot go
back to godhead, back to our home.
NOIVERSE 3(PART 1)
Get Josh Back in Bhakti
-HGRatnavali Mataji
O We need 6 things to be enthusiastic in bhakti
1. To continue bring enthusiastic
2. To do efforts
3. To have patience
4. To follow rules andregulations properly
5. To do shravanam,Kirtanam, smaranan of lord
6. To not associated with non-devotees and
follow the instructions of our Acharyas.

Krishna has dictated everything to Srila

Prabhupada when he was writing books
otherwise how could one complete it in such
asmall time

O The aatma of bhakti is Utsah

O Bhaktiis not mental speculation and

sentimentalism
1/5
O Utsah is practical action. When we will
practically serve then only enthusiasm can
Come in our bhakti

O99% of going back to godhead depends on

chanting but that 1%of service is also very
very important

Applying tilak means Iam surrendering to

Krishna and Vaishnavas and please protect
me from Maya

Utsah means to apply intelligence and it will

come by reading shastras

OWhen we have been practicing bhakti but

somehow lost utsah after sometime then we
ignore deity,criticize prasadam and show
lack of interest in hearing,we take guru and
gaurang for granted by which downfall in
bhakti begins which leads to destruction

2/5
OThose whose utsah remains consistent till
the end of life will surely go back to godhead
Ex.Our Gurumaharaj and disciples of Srila
Prabhupada as they have not lack enthusiasm

U We lack enthusiasm due to lack of taste

OWe lack taste due to following reason:

we don't knowthe subject matter of bhakti that
what we are doing, why we are doing this
chanting,reading etc.
The first step of bhakti is shraddha I.e firm faith
in the message of shastra which is the most
important

One may have faith in Guru and one may have

faith in holymame but the center of both the
faith is through shastra as shastra certifies bona
fide Guru and shastra is independent
Whenever we inculcate bhakti in new devotees
we should inculcate their faith in shastras
3/5
The degree of our bhakti depends on level of
enthusiasm and faith and knowledge of shastras

Three types of devotees are there depending

upon their faith:
1.Kanishta Adhikari- Very low faith in Krishna
2.Madhyam adhikari-Medium faith and medium
knowledge in shastras
3.Uttam Adhikari-High faith and Top level of
knowledge in shastras

Jiv goswami has written4 lakh verses and Rupa

Goswami has written 2lakh verses and other
Acharyas too have written so many verses and
we don't have that level to recite everything,we
don't know about ashtasakhisevas and so much
and we don't want to know it..such is our level

By associating with Uttam Adhikari and quru we

can have good enthusiasm

We don't believe in that God and guru who don't

believe in shastras

Laziness,many anarthas and involvement in

material things leads to loss in utsah

When we willrealize that why this human birth is

precious,we will leave laziness

NOI Verse - 5
kṛṣṇeti yasya giri taṁ manasādriyeta

śuśrūṣayā bhajana-vijñam ananyam anya-

Translation
One should mentally honor the devotee who
chants the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa, one
should offer humble obeisances to the
devotee who has undergone spiritual
initiation [dīkṣā] and is engaged in
worshiping the Deity, and one should
associate with and faithfully serve that pure
devotee who is advanced in undeviated
devotional service and whose heart is
completely devoid of the propensity to
criticize others.
------------------------------
Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī therefore advises
that we should meet with the Vaiṣṇavas in
an appropriate way, according to their
particular status.

In this verse he tells us how to deal with

three types of devotees

kaniṣṭha-adhikārī,
madhyama-adhikārī
uttama-adhikārī.

We must respect the devotees ,and

biggest obstacle in life is VAISHNAV
APRADHU.
Uttama-adhikārī

Uttam adhikari are the ones whoes eye gaze

itself can make that place becomes dham ,
makes each and every place dham ,
whichever place they go they make it dham ,
just like when srila prabhupada went to Los
Angeles that place also beacme non-
different than Vrindavan.

An uttama-adhikārī is not interested in

blaspheming others, his heart is
completely clean, and he has attained
the realized state of unalloyed Kṛṣṇa
consciousness.
According to Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, the
association and service of such a mahā-
bhāgavata, or perfect Vaiṣṇava, are most
desirable.

** why we must know our status is because

to know our level of sadhana and also to
choose our GURU

**when we know the levels of sadhana it

also helps in preaching
**There is a difference between judging
and discrimination ,
we must know the difference between
this two who all judges will always find
faults in everyone no matter whom .
The time when we cross line from
discriminations to judgement then at
that time we start doing Apradh.

When we do Discrimination what

happens

-We should always depend on Guru,

Sadhu and Shastra.

-just like : In Pandhavas we may think

using brain that Bhima eats too much ,
but if we listen and undertand Guru vani
,Sadhu , shastra we come to know that
Bhima was not normal like us humans .just
like humans have jathar Agni but Bhima
had Vriko Agni, Wolf's Belly.
we keep finding faults in others its because,
we have faults that's why we only see faults
only in other devotees .

that's why its important to know the

difference .

Chanting is like one overall progress , its

actually to feel the separation for Sri Sri
Radha Madhav ,

but we wont feel the separation until unless

we do good chanting ,

and our chanting wont get improved until

unless our Anarthas dosen't get cleansed
----------------------------------------

"If you hear something its responsible to

apply it "

we all must help each other to go back to

godhead by doing good Sadhana , we must
also check on others where they are lacking
so that we get others also to Krishna .
kaniṣṭha-adhikārīhe
kaniṣṭha-adhikārī is a neophyte who has
received the hari-nāma initiation from
the spiritual master and is trying to
chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa.

One should respect such a person within

his mind as a kaniṣṭha Vaiṣṇava.

One should not remain a kaniṣṭha-

adhikārī, one who is situated on the
lowest platform of devotional service
and is interested only in worshiping the
Deity in the temple.

madhyama-adhikārī
A madhyama-adhikārī has received
spiritual initiation from the spiritual
master and has been fully engaged by
him in the transcendental loving service
of the Lord.

The madhyama-adhikārī should be

considered to be situated midway in
devotional service.
