DAY AND NOVENA PRAYER.

First day:
Holy Spirit, Lord of light, from your clear celestial height, your pure beaming radiance give.

Let us pray – O God who has taught the hearts of thy faithful by the light of the holy spirit; grant
that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in His
consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Second day:
Come Father of the poor, come with treasures which endure, come light of all that live.

Let us pray – O Holy Spirit, Father of the poor, come fill my poverty- stricken soul out of the
plenty of your eternal riches. Warm me, I beg thee, of every opportunity in my daily round of
duty, to lay up treasures where no thief approaches nor moth corrupts, that I may enjoy them
together with thee forever. Amen.
Third day:
Come, Father who consoles, visit the troubled hearts and bestow peace.

Let us pray- O Divine consoler, and of all comforters the best to you do we come in trouble and
distress. Do thou, in the all- powerful name of Jesus, our Redeemer, and out of love for Mary, our
sorrowful mother and your chaste spouse, come to our assistance and comfort us in all our trials
and tribulations. Amen.

Fourth day:
Come Father who in toil gives comfort, gives pleasant coolness in the heat and solace in the
midst of woe.

Let us pray – O God, who did give the Holy Spirit to the Apostles, grant to your people the effect
of their pious prayers, that on those whom You have given grace, You may also bestow peace.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Fifth day:
Light immortal, Light Divine, Visit these hearts of Yours and our innermost being fill.

Let us pray – O God, may the Paraclete, who comes from You, enlighten our minds, we beseech
You, O Lord; and even as Your son has promised, may He lead us into all truth. Amen.

Come Father and stay in our hearts, if You take Your grace away, nothing pure in man will stay;
All is good is turned to ill.

purifying of our hearts and to our sure deliverance from all danger. Who live and reign world
without end. Amen.

clean of heart, our service may be well pleasing to You, who lives and reigns world without end.
Amen.

steps that go astray.

your Light, that they may be well pleasing to You in unity of faith. Amen.
Ninth day:
Come Father and descend upon mankind who confess and adore You, pour Your gifts, fruits and
charisms upon us we beseech You. Give us comfort at the hour of our death, give us life with You
and give us joys that which never end.

Divine Spirit, the intentions of this novena or what is most conducive to our eternal salvation
and glory. Amen.

LITTLE CHAPLET OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

This Chaplet has seven sections of seven beads, each group preceded by a bead to petition one
of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Begin by saying: I believe, Glory be to Father, Our Father…

On the Big Bead: Father, Father, send us the promised paraclete through Jesus our Lord. Amen.

On the Small Bead: Come Holy Spirit; fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of
Thy love…(wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the Lord, love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, mildness, faith, modesty, self-control,
chastity etc…)
After the seventh bead: Send fourth Thy Spirit and they shall be created and Thou shall renew
the face of the earth.
Let us pray: O God, who did instruct the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant us by the same Spirit to be truly wise and evermore to rejoice in His consolation, through
the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Suggested reflections:
First mystery: let us honor the Holy Spirit and adore Him who is love itself, proceeding from the
Father and the Son, and uniting them in infinite and eternal love.

Second mystery: Let us honor the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him in His Immaculate
conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, sanctifying her from the first moment with the fulness of
grace.

Third mystery: Let us honor the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him in the incarnation of
the Word, the Son of God by His Divine nature and the Son of the Virgin by flesh.

Fourth mystery: Let us honor the operation of the Holy Spirit and adore Him in the formation of
the Church on the glorious day of Pentecost.

Fifth mystery: Let us honor the operation of the Holy spirit and adore Him dwelling in the
Church and assisting Her faithfully according to the divine promise even to the consummation of
the world.
Sixth mystery: Let us honor the wonderful operation of the Holy Spirit within the Church
creating other Christs, the priests and bestowing the fulness of priesthood on the bishops.

Seventh mystery: Let us honor the operation of the Holy Spirit the adorable sanctifier and adore
Him in His hidden and marvelous work of the formation of saints in the Church.

Abba Father, send us your promised Holy Spirit through Jesus our Lord and Master
Come Holy Spirit fill us with Your Love, Patience, Peace and Joy, Self-control, Goodness and
Kindness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Humility.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.

On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to
You, eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the certain keenness of Your
justice, and the might of Your love. You are the strength and light of my soul. In You I live and
move and have my being. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace, and I pray with
all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought
and grant that I may always watch for Your light and listen to Your voice and follow Your
gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You by Your compassion to
watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds
and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You
Adorable Spirit, helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You.
Give me grace O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son, to say to You always and
everywhere, Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

( by St. Alphonsus Liguori)

Holy Spirit, Divine Consoler, I adore You as my true God, with God the Father and God the Son. I
adore You and unite myself to the adoration You receive from the angels and saints. I give You
my heart and I offer my ardent thanksgiving for the grace which You never cease to bestow on
me.

O Giver of all supernatural gifts, who filled the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with such immense favors, I beg You to visit me with Your grace and Your love and to grant me
the gift of Holy Fear, so that it may act on me as a check to prevent me from falling back into my
past sins, for which I beg pardon.

Grant me the gift of piety, so that I may serve You for the future with increased fervor, follow
with more promptness Your Holy inspirations, and observe Your divine precepts with greater
fidelity. Grant me the gift of Your knowledge, so that I may know the things of God and,
enlightened by Your Holy teaching, may walk, without deviation, in the path of eternal salvation.
Grant me the gift of Fortitude, so that I may overcome courageously all the assaults of the devil,
and all the dangers of the world which threaten the salvation of my soul.

Grant me the gift Counsel, so that I may choose what is more conducive to my spiritual
advancement and may discover the wiles and snares of the tempter. Grant me the gift of
Understanding, so that I may apprehend the divine mysteries and by contemplation of heavenly
things detach my thoughts and affections from the vain things of this miserable world. Grant me
the gift wisdom, so that I may rightly direct all my actions, referring them to God as my last end;
so that, having loved Him and served Him in this life, I may have the happiness of possessing Him
eternally in the next. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

(by St. Anthony of Padua)

O God, send forth Your Holy Spirit into my heart that I may perceive, into my mind that I may
remember, and into my soul that I may meditate. Inspire me to speak with piety, holiness,
tenderness and mercy. Teach, guide and direct my thoughts and senses from beginning to end.
May Your grace ever help and correct me, and may I be strengthened now with wisdom form on
high, for the sake of Your infinite mercy. Amen.
