1. GT Virtual UART driver
The GT Virtual UART driver enables communication between a computer running a
Windows and a GT02/GT02L/GT05/GT12/GT32 display connected with a USB cable.
Once the driver has been installed, the computer will recognize the USB port to which the
GT is connected as a COM port, although communications with the device will use the USB
protocol.

Notes
・ When accepting the terms of use before installation, please be aware that proper
operation of the driver is not guaranteed. If you encounter any issues during use of
the driver, please contact your dealer.
・ Do not connect more than one GT unit to a computer.
・ Once the GT Virtual UART driver has been installed, the computer will recognize
the USB port to which the GT unit is connected as a COM port, although
communications with the device will use the USB protocol. As a result, you must
select the appropriate COM port in order to transfer screen data via GTWIN or
peripheral tools, send or receive data, update the device’s firmware, or otherwise
communicate with the device.
2. Installing the GT Virtual UART driver
[Windows 10 / 11]

(1) Verify the location where the GT Virtual UART driver files are located (the "gtvuart”
folder).
There are three files:
gtvuart.cat, gtvuart.inf,
and gtvuart.sys.

(2) Turn ON the GT and connect it to the computer with a USB cable.
Ordinarily, the GT will be recognized as a “GT Series Programable Display” because
the standard GT USB driver has already been installed.
Open the Device Manager and verify that “GT Series Programable Display" is
shown.
(3) Uninstall the “GT Series Programable Display” from the Device Manager.
Right click “GT Series Programable Display” and select “Uninstall device.”
When the “Uninstall Device” dialog box appears, select “Attempt to remove the
driver for this device.” and click “Uninstall.”

The “GT Series Programable Display” will no longer be shown in the Device
Manager.

(4) Disconnect the USB cable connecting the GT to the computer and then reconnect it.
The GT will be recognized as “Other devices”-“Panasonic GT.” (The computer will
not be able to communicate with the GT in this state.)
(5) In the Device Manager, right-click "Panasonic GT" and select “Update driver.”
.

(6) When the Update Drivers dialog box appears, click “Browse my computer for
drivers”.
(7) When asked to specify the driver software, specify the folder identified in Step (2)
and click "Next."

(8) When the following dialog box appears, click "Close."

The GT Virtual UART driver has been installed on the computer.

3. GTWIN settings
To enable communication between the GT and the computer, you must select the
correct COM port number in the GTWIN “COM Settings” dialog box. You can find the
COM port number in the Device Manager. There is no need to set the baud rate. (The
setting has no effect on communications with the device.)

First, check the COM port number in the Device Manager.

Double-click "Device Manager" in the Control Panel to display the Device Manager.
(See steps (5), (6) and (7) in "Installing the GT Virtual UART driver.")

In this example, the

COM port is listed as
“COM3."

Notes
・ Do not connect more than one GT unit to a computer.
・ If the computer has more than one USB port, the COM port number will depend
on the USB port used to connect the GT. It is recommended to always use the
same USB port when using GTWIN. If you wish to use a different USB port to
connect the device, please change the COM port number accordingly.
Select "File" > "Transfer" to display the “Transfer Data” dialog box.

Click "COM Settings."

Set "Network type” to "RS232C.”

Set “COM port” to the port identified
in the Device Manager.

Since communication is performed

via USB, there is no need to change
the "Baud rate" or "Parity" settings.

Your computer will now be able to communicate with the GT.
