Yes absolutely. I still remember that back when l was still a primary school student,

moment. It is a very warm memory for me.
Yes, when I was a primary school student, my friend came to my house to celebrate
my birthday. The unforgettable memory is still fresh in my mind.
2. How to remember something important?
I think it depends. Some people are leaning towards writing them down, whereas

individual preference.
i think writing things down can be effective to store memory in our mind so that we
are able to recall the important information later.
3. Will you remember something important in future studies and work?
I guess so. Let's say, if I work as a teacher in the future, I definitely need to

terms of work, I will definitely remember clearly some of the most relevant skills for
my job.
4. Do you like to remember things?
I do like to consciously remember some crucial things, such as the appointment with
my supervisors. But when it comes to trivial things that need to be done routinely, I

such as the graduation ceremony when my friends and I took a lot of photos several
3
months ago.
5. Do you have difficulties in memorizing?
In most cases, I would say no. I have a sharp mind and I can easily memorize some
complex principles, formulas and etc. But in some cases, if I feel drowsy and dizzy, I

Yes, when I go to a new school, it takes me a long time to remember every name of
my classmates. I have such a poor memory.
6. Do people's memory better now or in childhood?
It's hard to say. Some people's memorization ability has been constantly declining
since their childhood, while others might find it easier and easier to remember
everything. I think the jury is still out on this question.
childhood ----
people had an amazing memory in their childhood because they could remember
very detailed information, such as their parents` phone numbers. Also, they could
even remember long poems when they were young. By contrast, now, they think it
unnecessary to store much information because of the help from their smartphones.

were strict about my routine
3. What do you do when you stay up late?

It depends. I am patient with something about which l am passionate, such as playing
computer games, watching live streamings, etc. But when it comes to boring things, I
don't think I can maintain my patience level.
Definitely. For example, when I want to buy a popular product, such as labubu,
I can queue /wait in line for hours without any complaint.
2. Do you think patience is important for work and study?
Absolutely yes. There are tons of things in our study or workplace that essentially
require us to behave patiently. You know, patience is an important virtue in such
situations.
Absolutely. If I lose patience, I am more likely to////be prone to make tons of stupid
mistakes, especially in math. so I think being patience is a crucial virtue in many
situations.
3. What do you feel impatient about when doing?
It must be those things which are repetitive, such as cooking, doing housework, etc.
Such things are routinely being done on a daily basis, which can hardly stimulate my
passion.
I feel extremely impatient when I am required to do anything I dislike. For example, I
am annoyed when my parents keep urging me to do my homework while I just want
to have a rest.
4. If you need to do something for a long time, how do you feel?
I think I might react differently towards different things. If it is something that is truly
challenging, I think I will be stimulated and motivated. But if it is boring and repetitive,
then it might drive me round the bend.
6
It really depends on what kind of thing I am supposed to do. If it is something
repetitive, doing it for an extended period of time will drive me mad/crazy. However, I
am willing to do whatever interests me.
5. Which stage do you think you are more patient, in your childhood or now?
I think I am equally important in both stages. I needed to be patient with my
homework back in our childhood. Similarly, patience is also required in the workplace
after l enter the society. You know, patience is an important virtue, isn't it?
Right now, I am much more patient compared to what I was in the past. For example,
I would make a scene if I couldn`t get what I want when I was young. Now, I am more
mature which means I am more likely to show patience even if things don`t go in the
right direction.
When I want to buy a popular product, such as labubu, I can queue /wait in line for
hours without any complaint.

Definitely. As I said, everyone does. To some extent, it has already become an
integral part of the modern society.
3. Have you ever sent messages to express gratitude?
Let me think about it. Yeah, donkey's years ago, I dropped my supervisor a message

that he replied a message back to me immediately to wish me a good luck in the
future. I was over the moon at that time.

become an integral part of the modern society.

⑥ Encouragement
1. Have you ever got others encouragement?
If my memory serves me, there was a time when my English teacher Frank
encouraged me a lot in my first English class. Initially I was very nervous, but I
became more confident after his encouragement. Finally l gave a brief introduction of
myself. I was over the moon.
2. Have you ever encouraged others?
Let me think about it. Yeah l once encouraged my cousin Frank to sign up for an
English speaking competition in his primary school. He was very nervous initially, but
he became more confident after my encouragement. Finally he won the first prize. He
was over the moon at that time.
3. Should parents often encourage their children?
I think they should do it as often as possible. Children are constantly expecting their
parents to encourage them, particularly those who are introverted. If I were a parent,
I would definitely do whatever l could do to offer emotional support to my child.
4. What are the advantages of encouraging children?
One of the main advantages is that children can be more motivated. Like whenever
they have suffered some setbacks, simply saying some encouraging words can truly
stimulate their motivation. I think this is a must for parents.
9
⑦ Praise
1. Have you been praised by others?
Yes definitely. I still remember how my English teacher Frank praised me back in my
primary school. There was an English class in which we should practice our speaking
skill. If my memory serves me, I was talking very confidently, and Frank praised me a
lot by the end of the class. I was over the moon at that time.
2. How did you feel when you were praised?
As l said, I was over the moon when Frank praised me. I think it makes sense to feel
happy whenever others praise you, right?
3. When was the last time that you praised others?
Let me think about it. Last week, I praised my cousin Mike regarding his patience in
his study. Although he had already studied for 5 hours, he still focused on his
coursework without being disturbed by others. Having seen that, I immediately gave
him a compliment. I think I did the right thing.
4. Do you think parents should often praise their children?
Yes definitely. I've seen quite a lot of children who are becoming more and more
confident as their parents praise more and more. You know, parents' encouragement
is crucial to boosting children's confidence.
5. Have you made any achievement recently? Did your teacher praise you?
I got the first prize in the English speaking competition I attended back in my
university. I still remember how nervous I was initially, but after taking a deep breath I
started to give a very vigorous and emotional speech. If my memory serves me, the
examiner praised me for my emotional tone. I think that was a milestone of learning
English speaking.

⑧ Machine
1. Which is the most commonly used machine in your home?
That must be the vacuum cleaner, which can be used to clean up the whole room
more effectively than simply mopping the floor manually. It is a must for me.
2. How often do you use it?
Almost on a daily basis. After I wake up everything, I will do it immediately to ensure
the tidiness of my house. I like to see everything in order.
3. Do you think washing machines and sweeping machines are important?
Absolutely. We could resort to them to most of things that could only be done
manually in the past. But if we overly rely on them, we might become lazy bones.
4. Do you read the instructions before using a machine?
Not necessarily. If a machine is not user-friendly, then reading instructions is a
necessity. Otherwise you might simply fiddle around with it randomly. But if
everything is handy, then I will use it straight away.
5. Who will you turn for to repair if the machine is broken down?
I might simply across through some social media websites, with the purpose of
finding something useful so that I could self-repair it. But if solving the problem is
beyond my capacity, then I must resort to the technician to come to help me.
11
⑨ Social Media
1. Do you use/like social medias (more often than others)?
To be honest, I'm quite an active social media user, though probably not as extreme
as some of my friends who are constantly scrolling. I mainly use platforms like We
Chat and Instagram to stay connected with friends and follow interesting content.
While l enjoy the convenience it brings, I try to maintain a healthy balance and not let
it consume too much of my time.
2. Do you think they are convenient?
Yes, of course! These functional platforms that specializes in different fields. Some of
them focuses on sharing so that people can take snapshots to share their highlight
moment, they could also post about their thoughts and creative works, interesting
videos or funny memes. On top of that, some social media has quite a lot informative
and educational contents while with discussion groups for people who have common
interests.
3. How often do you use social medias?
I'd say I check social media several times daily, mostly during breaks or when
commuting. It's become sort of a habit to browse through updates in the morning and
evening. However, I consciously limit my usage to about 1-2 hours total per day to
avoid getting too distracted from more important tasks.
4. Since when you started using social media?
I would say since I went to middle school, as around that time social media have just
came out and an increasing amount of people started using touch screen electronic
devices. I got my own mobile phone during that time and started to use social media,
before that I would go on website and join online forums to chat.
12
5. Do you think you/your friends spend too much time on social media?
Sorta.. I really tried cutting the usage of social media however I found out that I
almost couldn't leave without it. I kept a bare minimum of social media apps I had in
my phone but I really have to use them to connect with my family and friends and
other ones for getting information, such as renting a house and booking a cheaper
flight with coupons I got in those apps.
6. Do you want to do any job related to social media?
To be honest, I don't think a social media-related career would suit me. While l enjoy
browsing through creative content and interesting perspectives online, I'm quite
private about my personal life and wouldn't feel comfortable sharing too much
publicly. Besides, I haven't really developed the specific skillset needed for social
media professions like content creation or digital marketing. So for now at least, I'll
probably stick to being just an occasional social media user rather than making it my
profession.
13
⑩ Puzzle
1. Do you do puzzles in your childhood?
Yes, I got a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle as my birthday gift when I was a kid. It was a
little over my head, but I was so attracted by it. I had a strong sense of achievement
after putting all the pieces together.
2. Do you prefer doing word puzzles or number puzzles?
l am fond of doing the crossword puzzle, you know, one word can lead to another,
leaving you traces to find the missing part. I could also boost my vocabulary by that.
But number puzzles like sudoku are not my cup of tea. I would rack my brains but still
get stuck.
3. Did you do puzzle during your trip?
Definitely not, because the point of trip is to get a glimpse of the new landscape and
try new foods. I would be too busy to have time for puzzles. But when I'm bored,
puzzles can serve as a perfect pastime and exercise my brain.
4. Do elder people old people will do puzzle in their free time?
Well, I can't say for certain since I haven't noticed my own grandparents doing
puzzles regularly. However, I believe many seniors do enjoy puzzles as they're
excellent mental exercises that can help prevent cognitive decline. What's more,
since puzzles are also popular with schoolchildren, some grandparents might pick up
the habit while spending time with their grandchildren.
5. What is the benefit for elder people /old people to do puzzle?
Just as I said, puzzle can help keep the mind sharp by stimulating memory and
cognitive functions, which can help prevent conditions like dementia. Beyond that,
puzzles serve as an enjoyable way to pass the time—they are perfect for relaxing
with a cup of tea or bonding with grandchildren, reducing feeling of loneliness.

Part 2
Describe a time when you saw children behave badly in public
You should say:
Where it was?
What the children were doing?
How others reacted to it?
And explain how you felt about it?
I want to share with you a time when I witnessed how a naughty child misbehaved in
a public place. There was a day when I went to the local park to get some downtime,
but there was a child who was constantly making some disturbing and annoying
noises.
The main way in which other people reacted to it was to do everything to stop him
from causing further noises. Initially, the child's parents were asking him to 'pack it in'
when they noticed his naughty behaviour, such as dragging clothes along the
grassland while simultaneously creating some sharp noises, but obviously the child
didn't take his parents' order. At that time I was feeling extremely mad. So I went all
the way up to where the child was to stop him from annoying others orally. What l
didn't expect was that he even invited me to play the hide-and-seek with him, without
giving any thoughts to what I had asked him to do. It wasn't until that moment that I
came to realise it is truly the children's nature to behave immaturely. All of my
dissatisfaction immediately faded away and I started to play games with him. Even
now I look back on what happened, I still feel I did the right choice. Sometimes
people have to be more tolerant.
15
Part 3
1. What bad behavior do children usually have?
It varies from contexts to context. In the school contexts, children always tease their
peers. Because children tend to react to things instinctively rather than behave
rationally. If they see something or someone look funny, the immediate reaction they
will take is to mock at it. In the family contexts, children might watch TVs overly. I've
seen quite a lot of children who are addicted to watching TVs, and this is still the
case after their parents stop them from doing this.
2. How should parents stop their children from behaving badly in public?
I think one of the most effective measures that parents could possibly take is to set
examples for them regarding what is a good behaviour in public. The truth is that
children may not be knowledgeable enough to distinguish right from wrong
themselves; instead, they need some guidance from their parents. If their parents
could show them the right behaviours, the chances are that they are able to correct
themselves. I think such instructive measures are crucial in terms of educating
children about how to behave.
3. Are parents these days stricter than those in the past?
I think it depends. Some parents, as I mentioned, prefer to take an instructive action
to teach children about the difference between right and wrong. In that sense, they
are less stricter. But parents could be stricter. They might punish their children
severely until they realise they are wrong and get to know how to correct their
wrongful behaviours. I`ve seen quite a lot of family violence cases in which parents
abused their children overly. In such cases, parents used the wrong measures to
attain the right goals.
16
4. Whose influence on children is more important? Friends' or parents' ?
I think it depends on the children's cognitive development. For those children in their
early childhood, friends might influence them more greatly. Because children in this
period might have a strong emotional attachment to those who might share some
common interests with them, such as their peers. Once they become friends with
other, they might find it more compelling to play with their friends rather than their
parents. As such, they friends might have a bigger impact on them. But for those who
are in their middle childhood, parents might be more influential for them. Since
children in this period have gained enough knowledge about the indispensable role of
parents through their classes, they tend to emotionally fallback on their parents more
greatly.
5. Why should be patient to kids?
The most obvious answer to this question is that kids are always impatient. It makes
sense to treat someone patiently if he or she is constantly impatient. Otherwise, there
might be some conflicts that happen unnecessarily. I've seen some cases in which
parents unreasonably push children to do something they disliked, in utter disregard
of whether kids can take it or not. Usually the result would be extremely terrible in
such cases. But if parents could be more patient enough, everything would have
been different in the first place.
6. What should parents do when patience is useless?
One of the possible actions that parents could take is to punish them. Sometimes
punishment can work more effectively for those children who don't care about the
patience of others. For instance, some naughty children might not be able to listen
carefully to others who are patiently taking to them, whereas they might be deterred
by the punishment that might be possible taken when they behave wrongly. I think it
is the human nature that punishment can work far better than patient and friendly
talking.
17
7.Why do friends sometimes have negative influence to children?
One of the main reasons, as I said, is that children cannot distinguish good from
wrong. Because of a lack of the relevant cognitive skills, they might not be able to
stop themselves from being influenced negatively from their friends. Examples in this
regard might include the vandalism, children bullying, violent activities and etc.
18
