focused point appropriate for a paragraph. (1 point)
3/ SUPPORT SENTENCES (IDEAS): The paragraph’s body contains examples, facts,
and/or details that show or explain the meaning of the topic sentence to a reader. (2 point)
4/ CONCLUDING SENTENCE: The paragraph ends with a concluding sentence that
captures the point of the paragraph in a fresh way. (1 point)
5/ UNITY: The paragraph’s examples and details stick to supporting the topic sentence.(1
point)
6/ COHERENCE: All the sentences and ideas fit together in a logical way, and connectors
are used properly. (1 point)
7/ GRAMMAR: Sentence structures vary, and are easy to understand. Verb tenses, articles,
prepositions, and so on are used appropriately. (1 point)
8/ VOCABULARY: A variety of appropriate and academic words are used in the paragraph.
They are spelled correctly. (1 point)
9/ NUMBER OF WORDS: The paragraph accounts for the sufficient number of words.
Exceeding the limited number by below 10% is accepted. (1 point)
