SB 1.10.21 – The Ladies’ Reverent Discussion
Context: The ladies of Hastināpura gathered on their
rooftops, Arjuna holding an umbrella above Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Their
conversation was said to be dear both to the ear and the
mind, more attractive even than the srutis (hymns of vedas).
Translation (Ladies of Hastināpura):
"Here He is—the original Personality of Godhead as we
definitely remember Him. He alone existed before the
manifested creation of the modes of nature, and in Him only,
because He is the Supreme Lord, all living beings merge, as
if sleeping at night, their energy suspended."
Initial Reverence and Recognition
Since Vyāsadeva came to Hastināpura, these ladies, hearing from him,
remembered and recognized the original Personality of Kṛṣṇa.
They began with reverence: pointing their fingers at Kṛṣṇa and declaring
His avishesha (incomparable, without any equal).
Essence of the Bhāgavatam
They knew the cātusloki Bhāgavatam—the four-verse summary revealing
Kṛṣṇa’s supremacy.
Their talk reflects the heart of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, more attractive than
any hymn.
Theology of Cosmic Sleep
In Kṛṣṇa’s yoga-nidrā (cosmic sleep), all jīvas merge in Him like sleepers at
night, their energies suspended.

SB 2.9.33 – I Am the Supreme Personality
Translation (Brahmā speaking):
"Brahmā, it is I, the Personality of Godhead, who was existing
before creation when there was nothing but Myself. Nor was
there material nature, the cause of this creation. That which
you see now is also I, the Personality of Godhead, and after
annihilation what remains will also be I, the Personality of
Godhead."
Two Types of Dissolution (Pralaya)
Daily Dissolution: End of Brahmā’s day—everything merges into
Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu.
Grand Dissolution: End of Brahmā’s lifespan—everything merges into
Mahā-Viṣṇu; material cause dissolves into mahat-tattva.
Analogy with Sleep
Just as one sleeps and forgets the day’s activities and then awakes, jīvas
merge and later re-emerge.
Beginningless Nature of the Jīva
Anādi: Jīva’s conditioning is beginningless.
Jīva Gosvāmī explains: no soul was ever created; all are tatastha
(marginal), subject to karma from eternity.
Shāstra-Yonivat (Scripture as Birthplace)
To understand our origin, we follow śāstra—the scriptures—as our guide.
Jīva’s Origin and Liberation
Jīvas are tatastha-śakti, neither strictly spiritual nor material.
Different Brahmās have different lifespans; thus, universes dissolve into
Mahā-Viṣṇu at varying times. Similarly Krsna can put jivas in different
universes after the desolution of there previous universe.

Eternal Existence of Viṣṇu’s Expansions
Mahā-Viṣṇu (MV), Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (GV), and Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu
(KV) eternally exist.
Material creation is an ongoing cycle under Maha Visnu’s plenary expansion
