About the position
The Economics Department of Ashoka University has set up the Centre for Economic Data and
Analysis (CEDA), with the primary aim of facilitating informed debate about economic and social
developments. CEDA is currently working on a portfolio of research focused on gender and
employment in India. We are seeking to hire a research associate for one project in this portfolio.
The work will involve analyzing a field intervention to increase women’s employment. The work
also involves analysing secondary and real time data. This is an excellent opportunity for those
interested in developing skills in cleaning and analyzing big data, undertaking empirical research
work using experimental and non-experimental econometric methods. This is particularly suited
for those aiming to apply for a Ph.D. in the future.
The RA will work with Dr Ashwini Deshpande and Dr Kanika Mahajan and a team of other
researchers.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  ●  Data cleaning
    ●  Analyzing secondary datasets and undertaking econometric analyses
    ●  Conducting literature search
    ●  Contributing actively to the project and providing regular updates
    ● Survey conceptualization and coding
    ● Coordinating with survey agencies, training the surveyors and conducting pilots where
       required
    ● Coordinating with implementation partners and ensuring timely and seamless
       communication across various teams
    ●  Implementing experimental and quasi-experimental designs and analyzing the data
 Desired qualifications
    ●  M.A./M.Sc/M.Tech (Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Data science) or B.Tech (Statistics,
        data science), B.A./B.Sc. (4-year degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Data
        science) with research experience (and relevant skills)
    ●  Software Skills: Primary - STATA ; Secondary: Python, Latex
    ●  Knowledge of softwares like SurveCTO and Qualtrics, web scraping data will be an
        advantage
    ●  Excellent analytical and communication skills
    ●  Self-motivation to learn and pick up new skills if required, and being conscientious and
        having excellent work ethics to ensure that deliverables are timely undertaken
