Chapter 01
1. Definitions: Mole, Avogadro number, Molar Volume, Percentage yield, Stoichiometry, Limiting Reactant.

Chapter 02
1. Postulates of Bohr Atomic model. Derivation for the radius of nth orbit, energy and frequency.
2. State Pauli Exclusion Principle and write the electronic configuration of the following:
* Z = 24, 29, 36, 42 * Cl- (17) *Br- (35) * Mg+2 (12) *Ca+2 (20) * K+1 (19) * Fe+2 (26) * Rb+1 (37)
3. Differentiate: Continuous & Line Spectrum, Orbit and Orbital
4. Define X-Rays. How they are produced? Write any four important properties and uses of X-rays.
5. What are quantum numbers? Describe the four quantum numbers that specify an electron in atom.
6. Short Note: Hydrogen Spectrum

Chapter 03
1. Definitions: Bond energy, Bond length, Bond order, Dipole moment
2. Draw molecular orbital diagram of N2, O2, and F2 molecules and
* Write MO configuration * Determine bond order * Explain paramagnetic & diamagnetic behavior
3. Write postulates of VSEPR theory. Predict shape of the following molecules:
* AlCl3 * BF3 * NH3 * PH3 * H2O * H2S * CCl4 * CO2 * BeCl2
4. What is hybridization? Explain the hybridization in the following molecules
* NH3 * CH4 * C2H2 * BeCl2 * CHCl3
5. Differentiate: * Sigma & Pi Bond *VBT & MOT

Chapter 04
1. State main postulates of Kinetic Molecular theory of gas.
2. What is plasma? Give its significance in life
3. What is meant by Effusion and Diffusion? Explain grahams law of diffusion.
4. What is an ideal gas? What are the causes of deviation of real gases from ideal behavior? Derive Vander Waal Equation
for correction of volume and pressure.
5. Derive general gas equation. Calculate the value of R in two different units.
6. State and explain the Dalton’s Law of partial pressure. Give practical applications of Daltons Law.
Chapter 05
1. Define: Capillary Action, Molar Heat of Vaporization, Evaporation, Surface Tension London Forces
2. What is Liquid crystal? Give its two properties and two uses.
3. What is viscosity? Give the factors that affect viscosity.
4. What is Hydrogen Bonding? Co relate the properties of water based on hydrogen bonding among molecules.

Chapter 06
1. Define: Transition Temperature, Anisotropy, Lattice Energy, Radius Ratio, Allotropy, Unit Cell
2. Differentiate: Crystalline & Amorphous Solids, Isomorphism & Polymorphism
3. What are Ionic Solids? Give their properties.
4. How can you determine the number of Na+ and Cl- ions in a unit cell of sodium chloride?

Chapter 07
1. What is Le Chatelier’s Principle? Discuss the effect of increase in temperature, pressure and concentration in Haber’s
Process.
2. State law of mass action and derive Kc expression for a general reversible reaction.

Chapter 08
1. What is buffer solution? How it resists the change of pH by adding small amount of acid and base. Give applications of
buffer solution.
2. Explain lewis concept of acid and bases through example of NH3 and AlCl3.

Chapter 09
1. What is rate of reaction? Enlist the factors which influence the rate and describe the effect of surface area, temperature
and concentration.
2. Differentiate: Homogeneous and Heterogeneous catalysis, Positive and Negative catalyst.

Chapter 10
1. What are miscible and immiscible liquids? Why n-hexane (petrol) is immiscible in water?
2. State Raoul’s law and derive its mathematical expression.
3. Differentiate: Hydrophilic and Hydrophilic Substances, Solution and Colloid.
