Imam Al-Suyuti On Tafwid and Ta'wil

1. The document discusses different views on interpreting verses in the Quran that describe attributes of God (such as God being above the throne). 2. It says the majority view of early Muslims (the salaf) and hadith scholars is to believe in the meanings without interpreting how, and to "consign" the meanings to God. 3. It also says some later Muslims (the khalaf) took a figurative interpretive approach that suits God's majesty. The document analyzes different scholarly opinions on interpreting such verses.
