Noun- name of person, place, thing, animal, or idea.


Singular- count as only one. Plural- more than one
Plural Form of Regular Nouns- add -s or es to make its plural form.
1. Add -s to most nouns to make them plural.
girl- crayon-
festival- belief-
picture- idea-
mountain- tradition-
2. Ad -es to nouns ending in -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, and -z.
bus- iris-
dress- class-
wish- bush-
match- peach-
fox- box
quiz- waltz-
Sometimes, the end letter is repeated before adding -es, such as quiz- quizzes.
3. Some specific nouns ending in -o take -s or -es. You have to remember their plural
form. Some nouns however, can both end in -s and -es.
tomato- hero-
piano- radio-
zero- volcano-
4. For nouns ending in -y and preceded by a vowel, simply add -s. For nouns ending in
-y and preceded by a consonant, change -y to -i before adding -es.
boy- key-
city- story-
5. For many nouns ending in -f and -fe, change -f to -v then add -es or -s.

1. Some nouns change vowel letters within the word.

3. Some nouns retain their spelling and no change is needed.
deer- deer sheep- sheep
shrimp- shrimp swine- swine
4. Some nouns are always plural in form and meaning.

5. Some words borrowed from other languages have different rules of forming plurals.

FANTASY and REALITY
Fantasy- type of literature that has elements that cannot happen in real life, creativity
and imagination, example is Fable (characters are animals)
Reality- happens in real life, opposite of fantasy. Example Sherlock Holmes
