Hands On Programming, Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Instructors Live In Class(Online via Googlemeet)

All class recordings are available for downloads

Who Should Attend?
1. PLC Programmers
2. Commissioning engineers
3. Electro - Mechanical engineers
4. Instrumentation and control engineers
5. Maintenance engineers
6. Electrical engineers
Course Aim:
To empower participants with advanced knowledge and hands-on expertise in
configuring, programming, and controlling Siemens S210 servo drives using the S7-
1200 PLC over PROFINET, while integrating custom motion control interfaces on the
KTP700 HMI for complete real-world industrial motion applications.

Pre - Requisite
1. Must have gone through core training in PLC and SCADA before joining this Master
class.
2. Seek advice from course instructors on the basic to advance levels available for PLC,
VFD AND SCADA before joining this Master class.
3. Must have a good system for programming.
4. Must be available on weekends online.
5. Optional: Watch the recorded class in case of job shifts or emergencies. You would
surely be opportune to meet the instructor afterwards watching for their questions or
clarifications.)
6. Must have strong internet service provider for the online classes.

Weekend 1 – Segment 1: Servo Systems & Hardware Architecture

Objective: Build solid servo motion control foundations and establish hardware
connectivity
► Introduction to S210: Capabilities, applications, and differences
► Understanding the servo system structure (Drive + Motor + Feedback)
► S7-1200 PLC integration with S210 over PROFINET
► Telegrams used for each drive (Telegram 1, 3, 750, etc.)
► Encoder feedback and safety concepts (Safe Torque Off)
► Hardware wiring:
► Power and motor connections
► Encoder feedback loop (S210)
► Digital I/O (limits, home sensor, enable)
► Device configuration in TIA Portal:
► Configure and add drives via GSDML
► Assign Telegrams
► Topology and device names
Practical 1:
⚫ Drive-to-PLC wiring demo
⚫ Basic drive test via Starter / TIA Portal commissioning
⚫ Motor jog via drive panel or Starter software

Segment 2: PLC Logic for Servo Control – Homing, Jogging, Positioning

Objective: Implement core servo motion profiles using S7-1200 logic

⚫ Control Word and Status Word structures for servo motion
⚫ Homing strategies (hardware limit, software reference)
⚫ Jogging logic (directional manual movement)
⚫ Absolute and relative positioning
⚫ Speed and acceleration profile configuration
⚫ Diagnostics and fault handling
⚫ PLC code block design for motion control

Practical :
⚫ Execute homing cycle from PLC
⚫ Implement Jog and Move Absolute in ladder logic
⚫ Use watch table to monitor motion parameters live

Weekend 3 – Segment 3: Servo Synchronization & Application Tuning

Objective: Implement coordinated motion and tuning for industrial scenarios

► Position synchronization (cam/follow modes basics)
► Speed and torque control overview
► Application examples: pick & place, rotary indexing, conveyor sync
► Servo tuning using Siemens software (S210 → Startdrive)
► Feedback loop tuning basics: gain, inertia identification

Practical:
⚫ Synchronize axes (S210)
⚫ Tune servo response to load
⚫ Demonstrate motion repeatability with sensor feedback
Weekend 4 – Segment 4: KTP700 HMI Integration & Full System Demo
Objective: Build an operator-friendly interface and validate the entire motion
workflow
► HMI tag mapping for S7-1200
► Create HMI screens:
► Axis control (Jog, Home, Move)
► Fault display and reset
► Motion status visualization (position, speed, torque)
► Recipes and parameter adjustment
► Safety screen: interlocks, alarms, STO

Practical:
⚫ Operate servo axes from KTP700
⚫ Display real-time motion feedback
⚫ Run full demo with HMI-triggered motion cycle and alarms
