Story Outline:
In the peaceful town of Skylight Valley, everything
seems normal until one day, strange things begin
happening in the sky.
The clouds start moving backward, the sun
flickers like a broken bulb, and birds freeze mid-
flight. A strange, pixelated distortion spreads
across the sky. It looks like the sky itself is…
glitching.
A young coder named Nova, along with her trusty
flying robot Byte, sets out to uncover the mystery.
Using her glitch detector, Nova discovers the
shocking truth: the sky is actually part of a digital
simulation, and it’s being corrupted by a powerful
virus.
ANIMATE-A-THON
Determined to save her world, Nova and Byte
travel to the hidden Sky Control Tower to fix the
system. There, they come face-to-face with a
terrifying Glitch Monster, a creature born from
corrupted code. Nova quickly writes a digital patch
to fix the glitch, but her first attempt fails. She
spots a tiny coding mistake, fixes it, and finally
defeats the monster.
The sky is restored—more beautiful than ever,
with glowing auroras dancing overhead. Just as
everything seems normal again, Nova notices a tiny
“Loading…” icon in the corner of the sky… leaving a
hint that this digital world may still have secrets
left to uncover!

Mode of the Event: Offline
Domain: VIII & IX
No. of Participants: 3
Event Overview:
Participants must design and build an autonomous black
line follower robot equipped with an LCD display. The
robot will follow a curved black path and detect vertical
poles placed along the edges. It must accurately count
these poles and display the final number on the LCD
screen upon reaching the finish line. The goal is to
complete the track in the shortest time while
maintaining maximum accuracy.
SMART ROBO COUNTER
Zero Drivers, Maximum Thrill
Competition Objectives:
The robot must be capable of:
1. Following a black line.
2. Detecting vertical poles (paper rolls or wooden
sticks) along the path.
3. Accurately counting the number of poles.
4. Displaying the count on a 16x2 LCD screen (live or
final count).
5. Reaching the finish line quickly and reliably.
Gameplay & Track Details:
Track Specifications:
The track consists of a black line on a white surface
Features include:
Multiple curves and turns.
A clearly marked Start and Finish Line.
Pole Placement:
Poles (15 cm tall, black sticks) are placed randomly
on both sides of the track, within 5 cm of the line.
A total of 5 to 20 poles will be positioned.
SMART ROBO COUNTER
Zero Drivers, Maximum Thrill
Pole Placement:
Poles will not touch the track but will remain
within the detection range.
Robot Specifications:
Type: Fully autonomous line follower.
Use of IR sensors or equivalent for line tracking.
Ultrasonic or IR sensors for pole detection.
Display:
A 16x2 LCD screen is mandatory.
Must show either live pole count or final count
upon completion.
Size Limit:
Maximum dimensions: 30 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm.
Power Supply:
Only onboard battery-powered robots are allowed.
No external power sources permitted.
SMART ROBO COUNTER
Zero Drivers, Maximum Thrill
General Guidelines:
During the Competition:
1.Each team gets 1 minute of setup/preparation
time at the arena.
2.One official run per team.
One retry is allowed only if a technical failure
occurs at the start.
3.Robot must operate autonomously.
Manual control during the run is strictly
prohibited.
4.Robot should count only upright poles within the
detection range.
False or extra counts will incur penalties.
5.The LCD must clearly display the final pole count
at the end of the run.
6.Display must remain visible for evaluation after
stopping.
SMART ROBO COUNTER
Zero Drivers, Maximum Thrill
Disqualification Criteria:
Manual interference or touching the robot during
the run.
Robot leaving the track for more than 5 seconds.
Incorrect or missing display on the LCD.
Damaging the track or any of the poles.
Judgment Criteria:
Accuracy of Pole Count
Time to Reach Finish Line
Robustness & Design
LCD Readability & Clarity
Bonus: Live Pole Counting
Tie-Breaker:
In the event of a tie in pole count accuracy, the
completion time will determine the winner.
If multiple teams have the same count and time,
design and innovation will be the deciding factor.
SMART ROBO COUNTER
Zero Drivers, Maximum Thrill
Bonus Tips for Participants:
Use IR or ultrasonic sensors mounted on the sides
for efficient pole detection.
Implement debounce logic or delays to avoid
multiple counts of the same pole.
Consider using interrupts or edge detection
techniques for improved accuracy.
Test your robot on tracks with varying pole
distances and curve patterns for best
performance.
