India Triumphs Over Bangladesh with 6-

Wicket Win in Champions Trophy 2025

Overview
In a pulsating Group A encounter of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India
edged past Bangladesh by six wickets in a closely contested match at Dubai’s
International Cricket Stadium. Despite an early wobble, the Men in Blue
regrouped brilliantly to chase down a modest target of 229 with 21 balls to
spare.
Bangladesh’s Tumultuous Innings
Bangladesh’s batting faltered early on as they stumbled to 35–5, thanks largely
to disciplined Indian bowling. However, a determined partnership between
Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy added 154 crucial runs, lifting Bangladesh’s total
to 228 in their allotted 50 overs.

Key Players of Bangladesh:

Towhid Hridoy fought through cramps to score a remarkable maiden

international century, showcasing his determination. Meanwhile, Mohammed
Shami was the star for India’s bowlers, taking 5–53. His outstanding
performance not only helped contain Bangladesh but also earned him the
milestone of 200 ODI wickets.

Though Bangladesh’s middle order showed flashes of resilience, wickets

continued to tumble, and their innings ended at 228—leaving a target that
appeared within reach for India.
India’s Resolute Chase
Batting second, India started their chase with determination. An explosive
opening stand from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill laid the foundation early
on. Although Rohit’s dismissal for 41 in the powerplay slowed the momentum,
Gill anchored the innings with an unbeaten 101 – his slowest hundred in six
years – which proved pivotal in stabilizing the chase.

Crucial Partnerships:

Shubman Gill led the chase with a steady, unbeaten 101, giving India the
backbone, they needed. KL Rahul provided a quickfire 41* down the order,
helping push the team closer to victory. Virat Kohli chipped in with a hard-
fought 22, while Shreyas Iyer’s 15 kept the run rate in check during the middle
overs.

India’s calculated approach allowed them to gradually build momentum,

eventually reaching 231 for 4 in 46.3 overs and clinching the match with 21
balls remaining.
Post-Match Reactions
Shubman Gill, named Player of the Match, said his innings was "one of the
most satisfying I have played," emphasizing how it anchored the chase and set
the tone for India’s resurgence in the tournament.

Captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged the early pressure but highlighted the
team’s unwavering belief. “We had our moments of pressure in the early stages,
but the team’s belief never wavered. Our bowlers did an excellent job, and
Shubman’s performance has given us a huge boost,” he said.

For Bangladesh, while Towhid Hridoy’s century was a bright spot, the overall
team effort fell short against a disciplined Indian side that capitalized on early
breakthroughs.

Looking Ahead
With this win, India now have a strong foothold in Group A. The team will look
to carry this momentum into their upcoming match against Pakistan. For
Bangladesh, the focus will be on regrouping and analyzing their shortcomings
to improve in subsequent fixtures.
