and was awarded her Ph.D. in History of Science from the University of Pisa
(2015). Her main interests are history of physics, history of mathematics and,
most recently, history of scientific photography. Her passion for Newton arose
while studying philosophy and led to a m.a. thesis on “Newtonian gravity: his-
tory and criticism of a concept”. She then investigated the reception of New-
ton’s Principia in the Kingdom of Naples during the eighteenth century, with
particular reference to Pietro Di Martino. At graduate school she focused on
sixteenth-century mathematics, and her doctoral thesis developed a critical
edition of a manuscript of the mathematician Francesco Maurolico, about tes-
sellation of space with regular polyhedra (De quinque solidis quae locum im-
pleant et quae non, Pisa 2015).
