4. The CA360-B defibrillator maintenance
4.1. Service tasks
Responsibility of a serviceman:
He has to know, how this defibrillator is working
What kind of functions does the device have?
Check and adjust alarm settings
User menu, configuration menu and service menu
He has to have devices and instruments for testing and maintenance of the defibrillator
The defibrillator responsible for life of persons, so it must be ready for work at any
time!
4.1.1. Regular and periodic maintenance
Continuously make sure that the device and its accessories should be clean and undamaged.
Gel and other materials sticked to it, must be cleaned off from the electrodes. The undamaged
status of the electrode cables (cable insulation, breaking) must be regularly checked.
The battery condition must be followed with attention, if the device indicates the running
down of battery, it must be connected to the mains, in order to be replaced.
After some years of operation the battery capacity can reduce to that extent that it cannot
guarantee the operation conditions described in the technical data. In such cases the device
gives an alarm, the battery must be replaced. Battery replacement can only be carried out by a
skilled person.
Periodically (in 1-2 years) the main parameters of defibrillator must be checked and a
calibration must be made. The check and calibration only be made by a skilled service person
with adequate qualifications.
The continuous and reliable operation can be ensured by the allowance of a wake-up test. If
we set it, then the defibrillator will automatically turn on once in a day and it will carry out
some test examinations. Operation of the wake-up self-test is detailed in section no. 8.6. This
test ensures a continuous check-up, in case of errors or operation faults it will immediately
give an alarm.
The expected lifetime of the device is 8 years.

4.1.2. Cleaning of the device
Warning!
Do not use any aggressive, acidic chemical for cleaning the device, even if they
are diluted. Do not use any surface damaging granular material or flammable
detergent. Do not sterilize the device and its accessories, only in case it figures in
the instructions of the accessory.
Clean the defibrillator and the cables with soft cloth or sponge, not with aggressive detergent.
During cleaning, make sure that no liquid should enter into the connectors of the device. Pay
special attention when cleaning the tube of the blood pressure measurement cuff, because if
any water gets into the tube, entering inside the device during the operation of the blood
pressure measurement device, it can damage the valve and the compressor.
For cleaning you can use alcoholic solution, ammonium solution with water, peroxide
solution or any non-aggressive domestic detergents dropped on a dampened sponge.
4.1.3. Physical checks:
Surveying outer parts, remove dirt
Check cables (ECG cable, SpO2 sensor cable, Mains cable)
Check paddles (remove and put back child/adult paddle adapter and check springs inside)
Check pulse oxymeter probe
Check buttons and connectors on the device
Check that the defibrillator recognizes the cables and accessories
4.1.4. Checking the measuring channel:
Defi energy levels, pacer current: only test is possible, no adjust possibility
ECG: only test is possible, no adjust possibility
NIBP: measuring configuration, pressure measuring different levels, air leakage test,
calibration
Impedance: Test only, no calibration
SpO2: With test fingers for different saturation values, no calibration

4.2. Battery handling, maintenance
4.2.1. Indication of charging level
The CA360-B defibrillator works with 3000mAh, NiMH type battery.
The battery charging level can always be seen on the battery indicator in the screen. The
explanation of this indicator can be seen in the table in chapter 15.6 of user manual.
Cardio-Aid® 360-B Service Manual 7/46 V7
If the battery capacity level symbol on the screen indicates the low level of battery, then the
defibrillator must be connected to the mains power by a mains cable, and so charging is
started.
The charging process is indicated by the battery charger LED (see section no. 15.6 in user
manual).
In case of being completely charged, the LED is continuously lit. In case the device is not
connected to the mains, the LED is off.
The defibrillator, connected to the mains, is able to operate even with completely empty
battery, without battery or faulty battery as well.
4.2.2. Battery lifetime and formatting
Warning!
Due to the self-discharge nature of NiMH rechargeable batteries, the unused battery pack
requires regular charging.
It is recommended to charge batteries monthly regardless of it is in the device, or on stock.
Normally, the battery lifetime is 2-3 years. After 2 years the probability of sudden damages
are higher, and the drop of capacity is increased.
The capacity of NiMh batteries after several not full charging-discharging sequence may
decreases. The additional effect is that the determination of charging level becomes less
accurate.
That is why it is recommended to format battery regularly.
Formatting the batteries are advised every 3-4 month or if you realize the battery capacity
decreases down to 50-60% of new battery capacity.
Formatting procedure has two benefits:
initializes the charge level indicator on the display,
refreshes the battery which may lead to increasing capacity 10-15%.
Steps of battery format
1. Connect a power cord to the defibrillator and to the mains.
2. Enter the Service menu according to the chapter 6.1
3. Select the Calibrations Menu and enter with OK► key.
4 Here select the Battery online data menu line and enter with OK►.
5 The first line of the menu item is Battery data, the select sign is in this line. Press the OK►
key, the colour of the Off/Abort text changes to green.
6. With the ▲ or ▼ key select the “Format” item and press OK►. The format procedure
starts.
Under format we can see some different parameters on display: temperature, voltages,
currents, battery capacity, status, etc.
In the course of battery format the first step is the discharge below 89%, then charge to 100%,
discharge to 0%, charge to 100%. The duration of formatting depends on the state of battery.
V7 8/46 Cardio-Aid® 360-B Service Manual
At the end of a successful formatting the GSI_BATTERYFRMTSTATE, there must be
indicate “No Format” , in the GSI_PROHIBITCHARGE and GSI_SHORTEDCELLS
parameter have to show FALSE sign.
During format the Ready LED flashes in red, after formatting, it switches to green.
The formatting lasts for about 6-7 hours, de pending on temperature, and battery status.
In case overheating during formatting the device interrupt the process. After reaching a
defined lower temperature - continues it. So in case of overheating, it lasts longer.
If the formatting was unsuccessful, or the user aborts the procedure (Battery data Off/abort),
the battery charge is disabled, so the battery format must be repeated.
At the end, when formatting has been successfully finished, you have to check
BSI_FULLCHARGECAPACITY. This value will show you what is the current condition of
the battery. It shows exactly how much energy it can store when it is fully charged. This value
for a new battery is about 3000mAh, but after usage this value goes down.
If this capacity falls below 1500mAh it is recommended to change the battery to new one.
Battery lifetime depends on regular maintenance that is frequent charging minimum monthly
full charge, and applying formatting procedure as above.

GSI_BATTERYFRMTSTATE
4.2.3. Handling deep discharged batteries
If you missed the recommended monthly charging of the battery, it can become fully
discharged in which case the charging will not start automatically. You can find the required
procedure based on the used software version below.
4.2.3.1. Software version 1.5.2
In this version you will have to start manual charging of the battery using a PC based
software. The PC must be connected to the defibrillator with a USB cable (USB-B connector

7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Tasks in case of a malfunction:
First check the “Trouble shooting” instructions at the end of the user’s manual
If some of the accessories does not work, try to replace it if possible, and reduce the
place of the fault to one part. Use other cable, paddle, cuff, sensor and accessories to
do it.
PCBs are very complex, high density SMD technology is used, so only complete PCB
replacing is possible
Find the damaged PCB (do not mix up the PCBs inside, always take care of the
license code when trying to replace or build in modules.)
Make a note of the exact error messages during self-test
Take photos/video of the screen with error messages
Download and send service log files for the manufacturer to analyze the stored
information
Always check and inform us about the software version, serial number, device ID and
license code
Use the latest firmware update available
Provide as much information as you can
Prefer written form instead of phone calls
What is to be done in case of defibrillator malfunction?
The CA360-B defibrillator stores every technical events under work with a timestamp into a
servicelog file. If the defibrillator does not work due to an error, then the user has to make a
note of the error circumstances and time and date of error appearance and has to read out the
servicelog file mentioned above. The date and time of error appearance is important, because
we can find the registry about that error in the log file according to the date and time.
Warning!
The date and time always be set accurately, the stored events, the printout and the
service log are only usable in this case.
Please send this servicelog directory in compressed form with a note of the failure time and
description to Innomed Medical. To read out the servicelog file the first step is to enter the
service menu.
Here we describe some failures, with proposal how to fix them:
SD card failure:
-In case of SD card problem, most possible the SD card connector contact error. Fix it with
removing SD card, clean contacts softly with rubber eraser, and push back.
-If it does not help, remove the SD card and format the card in a computer, in normal SD card
slot and install the card in the defi.
At earlier SW version than 1.7.9 you have to install the whole SW package, (advised the
newest release) that will write up the necessary files on the SD card.
V7 20/46 Cardio-Aid® 360-B Service Manual
From SW version 1.7.9 or newer, it is possible to format SD card in the device from the
service menu and not necessary to install the SW again.
Power board failure:
The power board failure could lead the following effect:
The device can not possible to turn on (or from battery or from mains)
There is no battery charging.
Printer doesn’t work
Battery charging indication works badly
Bad Function during Energy charging
Failure at LED indication on the Front panel.
Failure at Defi board function
In this case it is recommended to change the Power Board.
Processor Board (keyboard):
In case Windows boot error, the Colibri processor core panel should be changed, or
reprogrammed. Contact to Innomed Support!
ECG patient cable detection error:
If the device does not detect, or detects a wrong type for the plugged ECG patient cable, most
possible fault is the patient cable itself. Try to disconnect-connect, or change the cable.
SpO2 does not work:
After checking all possible error listed in User manual Troubleshooting chapter – most
possible faulty the SpO2 interface board. It is recommended to change the Interface board.
Self-test error at defiboard: most common problem is the humidity or condensation on the
board if the device has been used or stored under extremely high humidity conditions for a
long time or the temperature of the environment changed a lot quickly. In this case, keep the
device on, an/or put it to a dry warm environment. Repeat shock a few hours later.
Consult with the Innomed service, if necessary. This problem can occur only if the user
exceeds the limitations for environmental conditions.
Problems with patient impedance measurement / patient detection:
If the device does not detect the patient, check the paddle connection (Unplug-plug it). It must
be plugged in quite strong.
Check the connection between Adult and pediatric electrodes of the paddles. Turn off the
adult electrodes, check/clean the spring contacts.
Advised to make an impedance measuring test controlled by the service menu, written in
chapter 8.3
Patient detects failure during pacemaker operation with patch electrodes:
Turn of the pace mode!!! Disconnect and connect the patch electrodes and the patch extension
cable plug at the defibrillator. Try again.
Advised to make an impedance measuring test controlled by the service menu, written in
chapter: 6.6

Paddles come out easily from the paddles holder:
In this case it is recommended to replace the paddle holders.
Problem with built in test patient load.
Check the contact in the paddle holders, inside the paddle at the pediatric/adult adaptor
contacts, and at the defi side.
Problem with built in test patient load.
Check the contact in the paddle sockets.

10. CA360-B – Dismantling
Important!
Before You start the dismantling of defibrillator, definitely consult Innomed
experts, because the repair of defibrillator cards generally are not possible.
This section provides information about the dismantling and re-assembly
procedures for the CA360-B.
The CA360-B is dismantled in steps braking the unit down into its major
components.
Note! The necessary precautions against Electro Static Discharge (ESD) must be
taken. This applies to all handling of electrical components as well as printed
circuit boards and all service involving dismantling the CA 360 B.
Note! Before starting to dismantle operation you have to shoot down the device,
disconnect power cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Before handling High
Voltage parts such as HV-capacitor, HV-circuit etc., ensure that there is no
voltage using a high voltage probe (1000:1). High-voltage parts are identified
with the “Danger High-voltage” symbol. Be very careful when connecting the
high voltage probe- avoid touching the terminals and use proper insulation If
voltage is present, leave the unit until the HV-capacitor is fully drained. If the
capacitor remains charged it can be discharged by connecting a drain resistor
e.g. 47kohm, 17W, directly over the HV capacitor terminals for min. 30 sec.
Be very cautious when connecting the resistor and use proper insulation. When
storing an HV-capacitor, always leave it in a short-circuit state. When re-
assembling the CA360-B taking care that the various rubber seals are seated
correctly.
Important Whenever an operation of dismantling and re-assembly of the CA360-B is
carried out, a safety and performance check must be performed.
Tools needed:
Torx screwdriver kit.
