WHEREAS Dodoma is the City within Dodoma region which

WHEREAS considering this strategic location of Dodoma,

WHEREAS following the declaration by His Excellency,

Tanzania, the Government has determined to establish and

develop the City of Dodoma as the Capital City of the United
Republic.

NOW THEREFORE, be it ENACTED by the Parliament of
the United Republic as follows:
Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Dodoma Capital City
(Declaration) Act, 2018 and shall come into operation on such

Application 2. This Act shall apply to Mainland Tanzania as well as to

3. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires-

“Capital City” means the Dodoma Capital City as declared

“Minister” means the Minister responsible for local

Declaration of 4.–(1) The Dodoma City is hereby declared to be the Capital

(2) The Parliament may enact a law for altering any

provision of this Act except that, any decision to alter the

declaration of the Capital City under this section shall be

supported by the vote of not less than two thirds of all members

(3) The provisions of the Local Government (Urban

Authorities) Act and other laws governing local government
