1. Manual opening
When opening the door of the centrifuge fails, or the door can not be electrically opened arising
from sudden power failure in the running process of the centrifuge, but the sample in the
centrifuge chamber must be taken out at once, here the lid can be opened by manual method and
opening steps are descried as below:
 Make sure the rotor stops completely (observe from the observation hole at the top of lid);

In the case of power failure, there is no brake function when the rotor stops running, so it will

take a long time to make the rotor stop completely, please wait with patience!

 Turn off power switch;

 An emergency door-opening hole is available on the left top side of the machine (shown as 2 in the

above figure) and you can use a screwdriver with diameter of less than 4mm or any other hard tool

(shown as 1 in the above figure) to vertically insert into the hole and push hard, door lock will be

released and here the lid can be opened. After the lid is opened, manual opener will be automatically

reset under the action of spring force. Here the state of door lock is the same as that after opened by

pressing “Open” button and it can be normally used when electrified next time.

Attention: the method is used only in an emergency and it can not be used at

will.

2. Precautions for centrifuge installation
Desk centrifuge must be installed on the rigid enough horizontal table (the area required for
Neofuge 13R is about 30cm × 52cm; at least 15cm space shall be available around the machine.
After installed, the machine shall be horizontally adjusted to make the four standing legs at its
bottom uniformly supported on the table.
After a new machine is unpacked, it must not be started immediately; the lid must
be opened first to take out the cushion for fixing rotor and the rotor; the chamber
and rotor shall be cleaned; then the rotor shall be installed correctly for starting of
the machine.
Electrical connection
Before the centrifuge is made power on, make sure the power supply voltage is in conformity with
the nominal voltage indicated on the nameplate of the centrifuge (Neofuge 13R applied power
supply is AC230V, 50/60Hz); an independent power socket shall be used; power wire must be
reliably grounded.
Power switch
Main power switch is on the right side at the back of the centrifuge. After the centrifuge is made
power on, LCD screen will display the logo icon of Heal Force and version number of software
several seconds (the machine is normally initialized) and subsequently enter into main interface.
Prompt: after the power switch is turned off, setting parameters of final running of the machine
will be saved automatically.

3. Installation and replacement of rotor

Before installing the rotor, make sure the centrifugal chamber is clean and rotor cap has been
locked.
Special tools supplied along with the machine must be used when installing and dismounting the
rotor.
Rotor installation
Hold the rotor by both hands and align the center hole of the rotor with motor shaft; then vertically
put it down till it fits closely to motor; finally lock the rotor with special tool.
Rotor dismounting
Unscrew the lock sleeve with special tool; hold the rotor by both hands and vertically take it out.
Attention:
The rotor must be moved in the vertical direction no matter it is installed or taken out, or else main
shaft may possibly be damaged.
4. Rotor loading
The following rules must be strictly complied with to avoid an accident and damage.
Load balancing
In order to avoid the damage to the centrifuge and samples arising from rotor shaking, all rotors
must be loaded in balance and test tubes and test tube racks must be distributed uniformly and
symmetrically, and multi-gang test tubes must be also uniform and in the symmetrical positions to
reach the best balance.
Maximum load
The centrifuge will generate a great centrifugal force during high-speed running; the safety
coefficient, i.e. the rotor has enough mechanical strength when working at the rated maximum
speed, has been taken into consideration at the beginning of design of each rotor; the safety
coefficient is based on that rotor load does not exceed its maximum rated load.
When a rotor is filled with test tubes and all test tubes are full of 1.2 g·cm-3 (density) liquid, the
rotor reaches its maximum rated load. (Note: maximum rated load of each rotor has been indicated
on the rotor body.)
When the density of the sample to be centrifuged is greater than 1.2 g·cm-3, test tubes can only be
partially filled with liquid to guarantee that total load does not exceed maximum rated load;
another solution is to reduce rotor speed and allowable speed of the rotor is calculated as follows:

Maximum rated load

Allowable speed= Maximum speed*
Actual load

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Start and no display

Troubleshooting method:
Firstly, check power input whether it is normal; if it is normal by check when the shell is not opened,
check the circuit of main board or display screen; open the front cover (Note 1) and check input
fuses F1 and F2 of main board whether they are in good condition (Note 2) and then check the
connecting wire between main board and display screen whether it is in good condition. If necessary,
check the digital power supply part on main board and measure the voltage of “5VD” testing point
and “3.3VD” testing point on main board to “SGND” testing point after starting the machine
whether it is respectively within 5±0.1V and within 3.3±0.1V , and check the fuses F5 and F6
whether they are in good condition.
Note 1: When the circuit on main board is checked or measured, the front cover needs to be opened; main board is

placed horizontally and then power switch is turned on or the machine is started, and here it is under power-on operation,

personal protection measures are basically ineffective. Therefore, please confirm the qualification of the operator and

protective measure whether it is sufficient before operation. The same below.

Note 2: The positions of such electronic devices as F1 and F2 have been indicated on the above-mentioned layout

diagrams. The same below.

6.2 E30 MOTOR OVER HEAT

Troubleshooting method:
Generally, the “BRAKE RESISTANCE OVER HEAT” alarm arises in the consecutive and frequent
deceleration operation. Because when main motor is decelerated, it needs brake resistance to absorb
the most of feedback electric energy as a result that the temperature of brake resistance will rise; if
the temperature is higher than a certain value, the alarm will arise.
In the maintenance, firstly exclude the false alarm arising from external interference; and then give
consideration to frequent deceleration operation, or unsmooth internal ventilation of the machine as
a result that the heat of brake resistance is accumulated.
Check the on-off state of brake resistance temperature switch. Measure the on-off state of X4 on
main board with a multimeter and it is closed under normal condition; or measure the level of TP3
testing point on main board to PGND and if it is low level (approach to 0V), over temperature will
arise.
If brake resistance or main board is faulty, it shall be replaced.

6.3 E34 BRAKE RESISTANCE OVER HEAT

6.4 E37 CONVERTER OVER LOAD

Troubleshooting method:
Current detection system for converter module is available on main board. If current is over a
certain limit, CPU will give the “CONVERTER OVER LOAD” alarm.
R61 on main board is SMD resistor used to detect the current of converter module U26. The alarm
may impossibly arise when it is over load, or converter module and main motor function
improperly.
So in the maintenance, firstly exclude external factors, e.g. interference, over load and even
blockage; and then check main circuit board and replace it if damaged.
When detecting over current, measure the level of pin 4 of optical coupler U14 on main board to
SGND with a multimeter; if it is low level (approach to 0V), over current will arise.
6.5 E40 ROTOR NOT SECURED
Troubleshooting method:
The speed detection board of TL13R centrifuge can detect the speed of motor and the rotor ID
board can also detect the speed of rotor when identifying the rotor. The “Rotor Not Secured” alarm
will arise when the speed difference between motor and rotor in the running process exceeds a
certain value and accumulatively exceeds a certain number within the specified time.
So in the maintenance, firstly exclude the false alarm arising from external interference; and then
check the rotor whether it is unfixed; check the rotor ID board, speed detection board or main board,
and replace it or them if damaged.
Output signal of rotor ID board is detected by TP22 and TP23 testing points on main board; in the
start and non-running state, lightly rotate the rotor by hand and respectively measure the voltage
value to SGND; the voltage value shall vary from 0V to 5V; if no level varies, the rotor ID board
may possibly break down.
When testing the speed detection board whether there is speed signal output, open the front cover in
the start and non-running state and lightly rotate the rotor; then observe whether there is level
fluctuation (high level: about 5V; low level: about 0V) at TP19 and TP20 testing points on main
board to SGND; if there is no level fluctuation, the speed detection board may possibly break down.

6.6 E41 LID NOT SECURED

Troubleshooting method:
When the “LID NOT SECURED” alarm arises, it is because CPU detects main motor runs at a
speed when the lid is in open state (connecting terminal X6 of lid switch is disconnected).
Exclude the alarm arising from manually rotating rotor and external interference; and then check
internal circuit and door lock whether there is a fault.
Open the front cover and check the condition of door lock; inspect whether the lid is not locked or
lid switch is out of position. Terminal X6 on main board is in closed state when the lid is closed;
inspect terminal connection whether it is in good contact; manually inspect lid switch whether it
acts normally in the case of shutting off power supply.
If door lock or main board is damaged obviously, it shall be replaced.
6.7 E42 LID OPEN FAILED

Troubleshooting method:
Electromagnet controlled by the CPU on main board; open signal is transmitted from CPU;
electromagnet action is driven by terminal X3 on main board and lid position is judged by lid
switch.
The “Lid Open Failed” alarm is given arising from lid switch acting improperly within a certain
time after CPU received the door open key signal and outputted the electromagnet control signal. In
such a case, the false alarm arising from external interference shall be executed first and then
consideration is given to the following reasons: electromagnet failing to act, lid switch being not in
the appropriate position, or electromagnet control failed, etc.

6.8 E51 OVER ROTOR MAX SPEED

Troubleshooting method:
Firstly exclude overshooting (i.e. transient speed over software specified value when adjusting the
speed in the acceleration or deceleration process) and external interference factors, and then check
internal circuit.
Open the front cover and check the circuit relating to speed detection, of main board and around it.
The terminal X12 (marking ③ in the layout of main board) is the connector between main board
and speed detection board; check the terminal whether it is in good condition and check the
shielding wire whether it is grounded in good contact. Then check the speed detection board; the
speed and imbalance detection board is installed below main motor and the lid needs to be opened
to take out main motor and check the speed and imbalance detection board.
If main board or speed and imbalance board is damaged obviously, it shall be replaced.
6.9 E52 OVER ROTOR SETTING SPEED

Troubleshooting method:
The “OVER ROTOR SETTING SPEED” alarm is similar to the “OVER ROTOR MAX SPEED”
alarm and the overshooting problem needs also to be considered, and their troubleshooting methods
are also similar. Firstly exclude overshooting and interference; then check the circuit.
Check the speed detection circuit of main board related to speed and speed detection board and
replace it if any problem.

6.10 E53 SPEED CONTROL FAILED

Troubleshooting method:
When the machine starts, CPU receives the control signal and then controls converter module to
drive main motor, and at this time, if the speed signal can not be received from speed detection
board, or the speed does not reach the preset value, the “SPEED CONTROL FAILED” alarm will
be given.
So the reason for the alarm shall be judged in the maintenance whether it is caused by external
interference or the fault of speed detection system or motor.
6.11 E54 TEMP CONTROL FAILED
Troubleshooting method:
The “TEMP CONTROL FAILED” alarm is usually given when refrigeration is required. At this
time, CPU receives the temperature control command and then starts the compressor to refrigerate
the chamber; real-time temperature in the chamber is detected by temperature sensor. If it does not
reach the set temperature within 30min, the alarm will be given.
In the maintenance, firstly exclude the false alarm arising from external interference. Secondly
check the temperature probe whether it is loose or the plug is in loose contact; check the running
state of compressor whether it is normal and whether CPU outputs the refrigeration command but
the compressor does not run; check the running condition of each fan whether there is blockage and
dust deposit causing bad heat emission; check the temperature control part of main board, etc. And
then check the set temperature value whether it can not reach the set value because set temperature
is excessively low.
When inspecting the temperature detection circuit on main board, measure the voltage of
TP18testing point to SGND with a multimeter and the voltage value shall be within 3.3±0.1V under
normal temperature.

6.12 E55 TEMP OVER 40℃

Troubleshooting method:
The “Temp OVER 40℃” alarm is to protect the separated samples or parts in the chamber from
high temperature damage.
Firstly exclude external interference. Secondly check the temperature probe; check whether
refrigeration measure has been executed in high speed run but the compressor is not started as a
result that the temperature in the chamber is excessively high; check the temperature detection
circuit on main board (the method same as E54) and if any unit is faulty, it shall be replaced.
6.13 E56 SPEED SENSOR ERROR

Troubleshooting method:
The “SPEED SENSOR ERROR” alarm is similar to the “SPEED CONTROL FAILED” alarm.
When the machine starts, CPU receives the control signal and then controls converter module to
drive main motor, and at this time, if the speed signal can not be received from speed and imbalance
detection board, or the voltage value of speed signal is not correct, the “SPEED SENSOR ERROR”
alarm will be given.
Check the speed detection board whether there is a fault by referring to E40.
If the speed detection board or main board is damaged, it shall be replaced.

6.14 E57 TEMP SENSOR ERROR

Troubleshooting method:
The “TEMP SENSOR ERROR” alarm arises from abnormal temperature signal that temperature
sensor transmits through detection by CPU on main board.
Firstly exclude external interference factor; then check the temperature probe whether it is in good
condition and check the connection between temperature probe and main board whether it is normal;
finally check the speed detection circuit whether it is normal.
The temperature detection circuit can be detected by referring to E54.
If temperature probe or main board is faulty, it shall be replaced.
6.15 E58 ROTOR ID SENSOR ERROR

Troubleshooting method:
When the “ROTOR ID SENSOR ERROR” alarm arises, it is because CPU does not detect the rotor
ID signal input by rotor ID board or the voltage value of signal is incorrect.
Firstly exclude external interference factor; then check the connection between rotor ID board and
main board whether it is in loose contact, or whether the rotor ID board has a fault and so it can not
normally output rotor ID signal (detection method of rotor ID board is the same as E40), or the rotor
ID signal processing part on main board is out of order.
If the circuit itself is faulty, circuit board assembly shall be replaced.

6.16 E60 COMMUNICATION ERROR

Troubleshooting method:
When the “COMMUNICATION ERROR” alarm arises, it is because the communication between
two CPU on main board is poor or signal connection between main board and display screen goes
wrong.
Firstly exclude external interference factor; then check the ten-core fixable flat cable between main
board and display screen whether its connection is good, and whether there is breakage and damage.
In addition, check main board and display screen whether it has a fault; if any fault, replace it.

Attention:
1. Earthing screws need not to be coated with thread fastening agent to avoid affecting electric
conduction, but spring washer must be installed;
2. The screws used to fasten plastic parts must not be coated with thread fastening agent to
avoid the spilled thread fastening agent causing corrosion to plastic parts.
7.1 Preparatory work

Before the centrifuge is disassembled, the lid shall be opened to take the rotors out. If door lock is
abnormal and it can not be opened by Door Open key, the door can be manually opened through
emergency door-opening device; for details, see Page 6.
Power switch shall be turned off and power wire shall be unplugged.
Condensate in the inner chamber shall be discharged.
Before related maintenance work is conducted, the parts that need to be dismounted and replaced
shall be determined first; related parts shall be dismounted according to actual maintenance need.
7.2 Dismounting of front cover

Remove the two screws (used to fix the front cover) on the front cover.
Raise the front cover to make the clamp disconnected from upper cover, and then move the front

8. Description of Neofuge13R circuit
8.1 Functional block diagram description of Neofuge13R circuit
Circuit part of TL13R centrifuge is composed of main board, display board, speed detection board, rotor ID board, compressor, main motor,
condensing fan, input and output lines, etc.
Connection relations of all parts are shown as Fig. 1
8.2 Description of circuit boards and devices
8.2.1 Main board
Main board is installed on the front cover, including the most circuit function and protection measures.
AC is inputted through the 3-pole socket with switch at the back of the centrifuge, and via the filter,
enters into the complete machine system from terminal X1 on main board, to supply electric power to
the complete machine.
Then AC is transmitted to the common mode filter circuit composed of L1, C3 and C4 via fuses F1 and
F2, and next is respectively inputted to the analog power supply transformer T1, digital power supply
transformer T2 and inverter circuit.
Inverter part is rectified via DB1 and filtered via C5~C8 and then inverted into 3-phase AC power via
U25 and U26 modules, and finally outputted to inverter compressor and main motor to drive rotor
loading for centrifugal operation.
PWM control signal of inverter module U26 of main control is inputted from CPU2 (U42,
DSPIC30F6010A) via optical couplers U20~U25. The optical couplers isolate strong current from
weak current. Module drive belongs to the strong current analog part and it is supplied with power
from the analog transformer T1. The signal outputted from CPU belongs to the digital weak current
part and it is supplied with power from the digital transformer T2. PWM control signal of inverter
module U25 of inverter compressor is inputted from CPU1 (U39, LPC1768) via optical couplers
U17~U19.
Analog power supply outputted from the transformer T1 is rectified through rectifier bridge DB2 and
transmitted to voltage-stabilizing chips U1(7815) and U2(2575-5) to respectively provide 15V and 5V
voltage for analog control part. The measuring point of analog +15V is in the “15VA” identification
position on the right side of capacitor C6; the testing point of analog +5V is in the “5VA” identification
position on the left side of C15; voltage measurement of both is relative to “PGND” testing point. The
middle is separated b lid switch and control motor temperature switch; if these protective units act,
analog control part will be made power off and controlled parts will stop running, playing a role in
protection.
Digital power supply outputted from the transformer T2 is rectified through rectifier bridge DB3 and
transmitted to voltage-stabilizing chips U3 (2575-5) and U4 (1117-3.3) to respectively provide 5V and
3.3V voltage for digital signal part. The testing point of digital +5V is “5VD”on the left side of
capacitor C19; the testing point of digital 3.3V is “3.3VD” on the left side of C21; voltage
measurement of both is relative to “SGND” testing point.
The control of door lock is realized by CPU upon input command through control tube Q2.
Brake part of main motor is composed of voltage detection and motor feedback energy consumption
parts. The resistors R8~R12 and the comparator U5 (MCP6542) compose the voltage detection circuit;
when the voltage detection circuit detects the rise of busbar voltage arising from motor speed-reducing
feedback electromotive force exceeds 380V, brake resistor is connected to the busbar to make the
energy fed back by main control consumed on the brake resistor.
Power supply of single phase compressor is led out before common mode filter inductor L1. CPU
detects the temperature signal that temperature probe PT100 feeds back and compares the control input
temperature signal with the detected actual temperature signal, and controls the start and stop of
compressor through thyristor T4.
Fan control is realized by thyristor T5 after CPU receives a command and makes a signal.
Detection of chamber temperature is realized by temperature probe PT100. PT100 displays different
resistance values under different temperature; signal voltage under different temperature conditions is
obtained by the calculating circuit composed of U29, U30 and other components and then transmitted
to CPU to realize temperature detection.
In addition, there are alarm circuit, rotor ID and speed detection circuits, busbar overvoltage protection
circuit, module overcurrent protection circuit and rotor overspeed protection circuit, etc.
8.2.2 Display screen
Display screen is installed on the front cover of the centrifuge and its circuit is mainly used to obtain
and display the running status of complete machine through communication with main board.
The screen is 4.3-inch color display screen and it is connected with main board by means of 10-core
flexible flat cable.
8.2.3 Button facing
Button facing is installed outside front cover and it is connected with main board by means of 8-core
flexible flat cable. 13 buttons are available on the facing. The pattern layout of button facing and
functional description of each button are as follows:

8.2.4 Speed detection board

Speed detection board is installed at the bottom of main motor and connected with main board by
means of three-core shielding wire. The speed detection board is mainly used to detect motor speed.
LED 1V1 and phototriode 1V2 compose the light path system to detect motor speed. There is a groove
in the middle of bottom extended part of motor rotating shaft; when the groove is parallel with light
path, light passes and is transmitted to phototriode to generate induction, thus a low level is generated
in the speed detection system; on the contrary, when light is blocked by motor shaft, phototriode can
not be induced, thus a high level is generated in the speed detection system. In such a way, periodic
stable or gradually changing impulse wave will be generated when motor rotates; the frequency of the
impulse valve is two times more than motor speed (RPM).
Signals received by light path system are transmitted to main board through three-core shielding wire
and then processed and enter into CPU.
For the details on layout of speed detection board, see Fig.5 Layout of Speed Detection Board.

8.2.5 Rotor ID board
Rotor ID board is installed beside the upper rotating shaft of motor and it is mainly used to identify the
rotor.
A Hall probe is available on the rotor ID board and it is used to detect the position of magnetic steel at
the bottom of motor to realize rotor identification. When detecting the magnetic field of magnetic steel,
Hall sensor will output an electromotive force; in such a way, if magnetic steel is installed in different
positions at the bottom of rotor, impulse waves with different duty ratio will be generated to identify
the rotor.
The impulse wave signal is transmitted to main board through three-core shielding wire and then
processed and enter into CPU.
For the details on layout of rotor ID board, see Fig.6 Layout of Rotor ID Board.
