Calibration and Testing of Gas Analysers and Detectors

Measurement Capabilities of Gamma / Testlab laboratories

Gamma Technical Co. has a chemical and environmental testing laboratory as part of the product testing
facilities. This laboratory grew out from internal production testing, but increasingly serves outside
customers too.

Main services:

 Gas analyser and detector calibration and testing

 Chemical filter (personal protection equipment) testing
 Environmental and mechanical durability testing
 Calibration of radiation monitors
 Radiation measurement of collected samples and on site

Gas analyser and detector calibration

The gas calibration activity is accredited under the name of TESTLAB Kft, according to MSZ EN ISO/IEC
17025:2018 for the calibration of gas sensors and gas analysers. The accredited services cover the
calibration of gas sensors and gas analysers measuring the following gases and ranges:

- acrylonitrile (CH2CHCN, vinyl cyanide): 0; 0.62 - 75 ppm (n/n)

- ammonia (NH3): 0; 0,05 - 1000 ppm (n/n)
- argon (Ar): 0; 0.83 – 100 % (n/n)
- dimethylamine ((CH3)2NH): 0; 3.5 - 350 ppm (n/n)
- phosgene (COCl2): 0; 0,0083 - 1 ppm (n/n)
- hydrogen (H2): 0; 2 ppm (n/n) - 100 % (n/n)
- hydrogen cyanide (HCN): 0; 0.17 - 20 ppm (n/n)
- hydrogen fluoride (HF): 0; 10 ppm; 50 ppm (n/n)
- hydrogen chloride (HCl, hydrochloric acid): 0; 0.083 - 10 ppm (n/n)
- hydrogen sulphide (H2S): 0; 0.83 - 100 ppm (n/n)
- isobutane (i-C4H10): 43 – 5200 ppm (n/n)
- isobutylene (i-C4H8): 0; 0.83 - 100 ppm (n/n)
- sulphur dioxide (SO2): 0; 0,005 - 2000 ppm (n/n)
- chlorine (Cl2): 0; 0,017 - 20 ppm (n/n)
- methanol (CH3OH): 0; 4.1 - 1000 ppm (n/n)
- methane (CH4): 0; 0.5 ppm (n/n) - 100 % (n/n)
- nitrogen dioxide (NO2): 0; 0.03 - 30 ppm (n/n)
- nitrogen monoxide (NO): 0; 0.05 - 2000 ppm (n/n)
- oxygen (O2): 0; 0.0083 - 21 % (n/n)
- propane (C3H8): 0; 2.1 - 8500 ppm (n/n)
- carbon dioxide (CO2): 0; 0.005 - 100 % (n/n)
- carbon monoxide (CO): 0; 0.1 ppm (n/n) - 100 % (n/n)
Non-accredited capabilities for gas calibration:

- other gases on request,

- ozone (O3): 0; 0,05 - 1 ppm (n/n)

The laboratory's ozone transfer standard has an ozone source for calibration of ozone measuring
instruments and an ozone photometer for monitoring ozone generators.

Typical instruments that can be calibrated or checked with the above gases and instruments:

- Installed plant safety gas detection detectors, transmitters, and personal gas monitors for the
detection of flammable gases (explosive hazards), toxic gases, oxygen deficiency.
- Gas leak detectors.
- Various laboratory and industrial gas analysis instruments.
- Environmental air pollution monitors.
- Ozone generators (non-accredited procedure).

Other tests: The laboratory designs and execute unique test for customer request. For example gas
chamber tests to monitor the behaviour of an instrument in the presence of contaminated environment.
