a) Describe what the World Wide Web is and how it differs from the Internet. [2 marks]

b) A web page can contain both text and images. State three other features which may also be
included on a web page. [3 marks]

c) What is a Protocol? Give any three examples. [5 marks]

d) You have an image called logo.png. Write down the markup to display it on webpage. (Only
the markup is needed). [3 marks]

e) With example code, describe two ways in which inline images may be used. [4 marks]

f) Explain the difference between an absolute and relative URL. Give an example of each.

a) What is the Document Type Declaration? Provide any two (2) DTD options. [4 marks]

b) Write a link that will target a mail protocol to automatically send an email to
[email protected] and with text "Request for Quotation" as default subject. [4 marks]

c) One of the mostly used terms in Web Accessibility Guidelines is Internationalization (i18n),
explain what this term means. [2 marks]

d) Name any four (4) web-browsers of your choice. [4 marks]

e) Give any three reasons why content matters in web design and development. [3 marks]

f) For planning purposes, Web Developers are always encouraged to define a Site Map.
Describe a site map and state its purpose. [4 marks]

g) Explain the term Accessibility in Web Design. [2 marks]

h) What is the difference between Transitional and Strict HTML 4.01? [2 marks]

a) Below is an example of a URL. The URL can be split up into four (4) parts. Name and
discuss these four (4) parts. [8 marks]

b) The problem with a HyperText medium is that when users click on an interesting link that
takes them off any web page, they might never come back. Using this analogy write an
HTML code snippet that creates a link to http://www.somesite.com and the target should
open in a new browser window. [4 marks]

c) What is the difference between inline and block elements? Give 2 examples of each?

d) By default when a web page loads, the browser displays the top of that page. With sample
code, write down the two steps for linking within the same document i.e. linking to a
fragment in a document. [5 marks]

e) Give HTML commands to achieve the following:

regardless of ability is a critical for Accessibility Guidelines. Name any three types of
