SECTION 58: SANITATION CODE

The following requirements as per


Section 58 (a).

1.Sanitary permit procured from the local


health authority;
2. Maintenance of cleanliness and
sanitation at all times; health certificate
secured by the employees from the local
authority.

be observed as per Section 58 (b):

SECTION 59 of the Sanitation Code
provides for the definition of vital
terms pertinent to the sauna bath
establishments and massage clinics:

a. Massage Rubbing or kneading the


body for health or
relaxation.
b. Massage Clinic A place where trained
people give massages.
c. Masseur A licensed person who
gives massages and
supervises others.
d. Massage Attendant A trained person who
gives massages under a
masseur’s supervision.
e. Sauna Bath A place where steam is

the body.
f. Sauna Attendant A person who helps
customers use the sauna
properly.
Section 60 of the Sanitation Code, a
Sanitary Permit is required before
operating any massage clinic or sauna
bath.

1. Issued by Local Authority – The


permit must come from the city or
municipal health office.
2. Required Before Operation – You
must get the permit before opening
the business.
3. Legal Requirement – Its part of
the law under the Sanitation Code.
4. Shows Compliance – It proves the
business follows health and safety
rules.
5. Needs Renewal – The permit must
be updated regularly.
Section 61 requires massage clinics
and sauna baths to have proper
lighting, ventilation, and clean
handwashing, bath, and toilet
facilities.

1. Lighting – Rooms must be bright


enough to see clearly.
2. Ventillation – Roms must have
fresh air or airflow.
3. Massage Room Setup – must
have clean massage table and curtain
for privacy.
4. Sauna Bathroom Setup – Must be
clean have good lighting and a
thermometer.
5. Handwashsing facilities – Must
have clean sinks with soap and water.
6. Toilet & Bath Facilities – Must be
clean and easy to use.
7. Soap & Clean Towels – Customers
must be given soap and fresh towels.
8.Sanitized Slippers – Customers
must wear clean rubber or plastic
slippers.
9. Customer Bathing – Customers
must take a full bath before massage.

Section 62 lists the rules for workers


in massage clinics and sauna baths.
These are shown in a table to help
students understand easily.

assists sauna users.

Section 63(a) defines what a hotel


is and explains its basic features like
lodging, meals, and services for short-
term guests.

1. Hotel – A building where guests


stay for a short time and pay for food
and lodging.
2. Transient Guest – People who stay
for short time.
3. Meals & Lodging – Food and a
place to sleep are provided.
4. Budget Hotel – A cheaper hotel
with basic services.
5. High Priced Hotel – A more
expensive hotel with extra facilities.
6. Other Services – Extra things
offered to guests.
Section 63(b) on motels and
lodges - hotels built for motorists,
with easy parking and direct room
access.

Motel / Lodge – A hotel made for


people travelling by car.
Motorists – People who drive cars.
Parking Area – Space for cars near
the rooms.
Private Cabins – Small, separate
room for guests.
Linked Rooms – Rooms connected to
one building.
Facing Parking – Room doors open
towards the parking area.
Common Area – Shared space for
guests to relax or eat.
Boarding House under Section
63(c):

Boarding House – A house where


people rent rooms and get meals.
Tenants – People who rent space in
the house.
Fixed Periods – Stay is limited to
days, weeks, months, or years.
Sleeping Accommodation – A bed
or room provided for rest.
Common Areas – Shared spaces like
hallways, bathrooms, or dinning
rooms.
Extra Services – Laundry or cleaning
may be offered.

Section 63(e) a Tenement—a


building where four or more families
live separately but share common
areas like halls, stairs, and bathrooms.
Tenement – A building with families
living separately but sharing some
spaces.
Four or more families – At least 4
families must live there for it to be
called a tenement.

Living Idenpendently – Families live


separately, not as one household.

Apartment – A private housing unit
inside a building
Self Contained – Has it own kitchen,
bathroom and living space.
Part of a building – Only one section
or floor of bigger structure.
Single storey – Usually located on

Separate Suites – Each family has it
own unit.
