A. BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY

Presentation of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.

The Psychology program affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of
Los Andes was approved in a session of the National Council of Universities (CNU) on the day

November 1, 2017. The contribution of this undergraduate academic program


in psychology, the development of the discipline and the profession at the regional level is expressed

through its social and professional impact:


a. The Bachelor's degree in Psychology is an academic program designed to be
taken by high school graduates interested in planning and executing psychological interventions and

psychosocials through the use of techniques to formulate diagnoses, forecasts


and treatments according to the psychological characteristics of personality and
psychosocial aspects that describe the functioning of communities,
institutions and organizations within the socio-cultural context of the Andean region.
b. The bachelor's degree in Psychology is the only one in the region and the country to offer a

intermediate exit, training higher technicians in Psychosocial Research for


contribute to the technical development of the diagnostic research area in social groups of

c. This is an academic program that allows individuals or groups to

professionals with knowledge and skills in the field of Psychology. In such
sense, they propose to train professionals capable of planning, organizing, directing,
execute and control psychological intervention projects in various fields
applied psychology to contribute to the social development of the country and the region.

General objectives of the career

The Psychology degree has fundamental objectives:


a. To train professionals with high moral values and scientific knowledge.

Duration of the Degree

The bachelor's degree in Psychology is an undergraduate program with a duration of

five (5) calendar years, ten (10) academic semesters whose duration is ten and
six (16) weeks. A five-year calendar curriculum plan is required due to
that the set of skills, knowledge, and attitudes must mature in the
student progressively through their training and experience in each phase
of training.

taking into account the ethical, psychosocial, socio-economic aspects and
environmental factors that influence the development of the Venezuelan social reality.

Specifically, the Licensed Psychologist is capable of:


a. Understands and explains concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and

historical trends in Psychology and its connection with other fields


knowledge to apply them effectively in their context of action
professional.
b. Know and apply various research methods in Psychology with the purpose
to contribute to its development as a science.
c. Selects / develops and applies valid information collection techniques
reliable for the purpose of knowing objectively the characteristics
relevant to the psychological functioning of the person or group under study.
d. Individual, group, and organizational diagnostic formulas, through the
methods specific to Psychology with the aim of guiding concrete actions
e. Design, apply, and evaluate intervention proposals and psychological follow-up
both at an individual and group level, taking diversity into account
cultural and the specific characteristics of the environment.

f. Participates in multidisciplinary teams offering alternatives that


contribute to well-being and integral health
g. Prepare reports on evaluations conducted on individuals, products,
services, groups or organizations using oral and written means
appropriate audiovisuals in the context of acting for service
requested as psychological evidence
h. Actively participate in the development of awareness plans,
education and prevention based on the findings derived from the research
in psychology oriented towards the humanization of interpersonal relationships and
of modes of coexistence.

Graduation Requirements to obtain the Degree of Bachelor in Psychology

To obtain the degree of Bachelor in Psychology, the student


must
a. Complete and pass in full, according to the curriculum, fifty
50 curricular units in total, of which forty-six (46) are
mandatory, four (4) electives, totaling one hundred among them
seventy-four (174) academic credits.
b. Having approved a Special Degree Project.
c. Having complied with the provisions of the Service Law
Community of Higher Education Students
d. Having passed a proficiency exam in Instrumental English that
demonstrate your reading comprehension of psychological texts written in
English language.

e. Having passed fourteen (14) academic credits in activities of


comprehensive training.

B. HIGHER TECHNICIAN IN PSYCHOSOCIAL RESEARCH

planned and executed by professionals in Psychology and related disciplines in sciences
